Bad Time to Be a City Fan
Okay, all right football fellows here episode 21
Will:2121.
Jerrell:a man shitty
Will:Oh, wow.
Jerrell:get into that Yeah, it's tough
Will:Man, shitty.
Jerrell:gonna get into that.
Will:Coming in strong this week. That, I like,
Jerrell:strong
Will:I like it more than the, I'm still trying to figure out the sizzle cherry spark. I'm just like, these are three disapparate words that you just dropped down.
Jerrell:Working title off one day. I'll get back to that one
Will:We'll get there. Yeah.
Jerrell:Big topic, Grand City's struggling, but we'll definitely get into that today for sure, because other reasons, and I'll voice my concerns for another team in question in that match. But also, shout out to New Jersey, who else is from New Jersey this week?
Will:Jersey shout out Hoboken boys, we outside.
Jerrell:Yeah, I checked that today, I was like, ooh, New
Will:Okay said good things about Jersey.
Jerrell:The Northeast.
Will:A little winter vacation that came to never hurt anyone. Yeah,
Jerrell:there you go.
Will:Quick admin shout out at match day 13. Pick'ems are up. I haven't posted them on socials. That'll be up soon. Follow us on football fellows on all channels, except blue sky. We're working on that. But and email us at. Footballfellas at gmail. com. If you want to reach out, I should check that email actually
Jerrell:Oh,
Will:much
Jerrell:So much spam.
Will:man
Jerrell:So I got to watch a good amount of these games, but I did spend my weekend going to the NWSL finals in Kansas
Will:A man of culture. How's that? How's the week? How's the game?
Jerrell:the vibes were immaculate. It was amazing So what was interesting is because they hosted in kansas city and the pride beat the current before arriving to the finals A lot of current fans still showed up Cheering against the pride understandably.
Will:I get it
Jerrell:I couldn't help myself But just say go home your team isn't here, but it's their stadium. So I had to respect
Will:Yeah
Jerrell:So great game, sellout crowd, was what they said on the big screen You very fun game, especially for the Orlando Pride, making their first playoff run, winning their first trophy, so they got to win the shield and At the same time we waited. We waited outside the stadium for them to get on the bus and celebrate with them. I saw Grant Hill.
Will:Oh, okay, cool
Jerrell:yeah, I was like, Hey, mister Hill. Nice win
Will:Not mystery
Jerrell:Heh
Will:I don't
Jerrell:that's Grant Hill. She was like, Who's that? I was like, Grant Hill used to be a basketball player. He's part owner. Of the Pride in, in City. And after I, called out to him and, whatever, she's Can I get a selfie with you? And I'm just like, you just knew who this man was a minute ago.
Will:know.
Jerrell:But she did get a, she did get a selfie with Bonda with her MVP trophy. So
Will:Oh,
Jerrell:cool.
Will:that's super cool. Yeah, when we did last week's pod, I felt terrible because we didn't talk about shout out Marta's goal. In the previous matchup because I was watching it with my partner at the time and we're talking during the game and when it happened I literally was just like oh my god oh! And I was like, watch this replay and she's oh my god, that was really good, that was good soccer, good footies, yeah. Yeah.
Jerrell:all the playoff games for the Pride. We were there for most of the season too, so we saw a good amount of regular season games. We saw all the playoff games. We were like, fuck it, we gotta go to the finals. Like, when are we gonna see this again? but yeah, that goal against the current, she sat down four people, just scored that goal, and that was incredible. Yeah, so we waited for the team to get on the bus, they celebrated some more a lot of honking of the bus horn, twerking on the bus too, so that was fun to watch,
Will:Okay,
Jerrell:And the hotel we stayed at, the Washington Spirit were staying there,
Will:no,
Jerrell:We got through, we were walking through the lobby and walked past Trinity Rodman. So that was pretty neat.
Will:did he boo her
Jerrell:Oh no, they booed us I was like, I don't know what to tell you this scoreboard, maybe So we we were going up and down the elevator throughout the night and I guess we took a ride on the elevator. One of the players from the spirit. We didn't know who she was. I don't recognize her starting, but, she was like, what floor do you want to go on? Eight. And then we got off and we're just like, was that a spirit player? That's cool though. We get to stay in the hotel with with one of the teams and, see a women's national team player out there as well.
Will:can't be around like athletes or any like sports teams because I know it just be like, oh, that's the spirit And like instead of saying thank you for hitting it or things like that. It's just like it's the holy trinity, yeah, probably kicked out the hotel pretty quick. So
Jerrell:Oh yeah. Why are you antagonizing our guests? So that, that was pretty cool. It was just like random. We saw the bus pull up when we got back and we're like, that's the I forget her name, but the rookie of the year from the NWSL, she was like standing outside. And we're like, oh, she was at the game. That's a player. Are we walked inside Trinity Rodman? Just you know, it's different when you see them in casual clothes
Will:Yeah,
Jerrell:The hair they have a certain look when they play, the hair is done up and whatever But they're just in casual clothes a hat on you're just like it is though So it's interesting
Will:are people to drill yeah No,
Jerrell:So
Will:reasonable for sure
Jerrell:so So that was a cool experience too, and then 11 hour car ride to Tennessee, and then a 10 hour car ride back to Orlando.
Will:Oh, you hit the drive.
Jerrell:Yeah.
Will:Jesus Wow damn. Okay. How so how long was the ride into kansas city?
Jerrell:So we flew into Kansas
Will:Oh, okay
Jerrell:Yeah, because we were like, let's drive, and I looked at 18 hour drive. And we didn't get off work until 7. 30 on Friday, so there was no chance we were going to make that in a reasonable amount.
Will:Nice
Jerrell:We got, we, we took the plane and then ran into the car back.
Will:Yeah, I can't believe that you just listen to the pod straight through on the way back every episode that's amazing. Yeah
Jerrell:Yeah.
Will:for the hive
Jerrell:for the
Will:But dope that's awesome. So thanks for sharing that. So that was our a pride corner. What do you say? You're a proud boy
Jerrell:I don't know if I can say that.
Will:It was a test that's my fault new Kendrick drops, I'm real messy, right
Jerrell:I did listen to the album On,
Will:Fantastic. Fantastic.
Jerrell:it again.
Will:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, real West Coast. So awesome stuff. So cool. So Jerald had an eventful weekend. I do not have stories to match. So that's awesome. You win this week. You're my winner. You want to go into these results? You want me to cover or you want to do? Take it over.
Jerrell:Oh yeah. Go ahead. You can run through the result.
Will:So this week I put normal names on the results because I know I saw sometimes when I put different names I was just like what the fuck is the note, so I'm just gonna read through this
Jerrell:know
Will:real casual
Jerrell:Saints or Aston Villa, and I don't know why that fucks with me so
Will:It's reasonable. It's honestly easier for me. So when I'm like setting up the dock, I can just drag stuff up. City played Chelsea to start the week. Chelsea won 2 1 on the road. This led to Steve Cooper getting fired a day or two after. We'll get into that in a little bit. Burnmith loses to Bryden 2 1. Bryden are now at 22 points. They went up 2. Got a red and were able to hold on for the last 30 minutes to get a win. Arsenal with a return to form they went 3 0 a controlled game against forest Villa crystal palace played it out ended up with a 2 2 draw, with a late ross barkley equalizer, splitting the points Everton and bretford had this game was probably like the game I thought was least likely end up 0 0 ended up in a 0 0 draw brentford got a red and they held on for their first away points of the season fulham and wolves ends up in the 1 4 result in favor of the wolves You City Spurs ends up zero for drill. You called this one actually on last week's pod. Yeah. James Madison brace early on city. At this point they had lost their fifth straight game and they dropped points today in the UCL against fire Nord. Yesterday against fine Nord recording on Wednesday. Southampton liverpool ends in a 2 3 liverpool. They're eight points, on top of the table after Mo Salah once again hits a brace Ipswich town manchester united ends up in a 1 1 draw in ruben emery's first game as a skipper for manchester united Newcastle west ham ends 0 2 west ham getting a huge win on the road. Julian lopetegui he stays on for another game as there's a lot of heat and a lot of You Speculation in regards to his job security over there. So that was the match day 12 results jerome
Jerrell:winners and losers this week
Will:yeah That new I snuck in the That tiebreaker in there. I don't know if you guys saw it. So
Jerrell:yeah, I
Will:yeah I was just like, I'm not last this week. It's a big moment for me. As you guys noticed, Christian's not here this week. Christian's out here doing American things, getting ready for Thanksgiving, spending with family. What a guy. So we're going to go ahead and cover Christian came on top of our winner's losers this week. So his winner and loser will read out then me and Gerald tied. We had a tiebreaker on goals. I was a little bit closer to the goal margin. So if everything's okay with you, Gerald, I'll go second this week and then we'll have to save the best for last. Cool. So this week's winner Christian updated several times since we started the episode, he was going to start with the tractor boys. But. Oh, no, actually he's stuck with the tractor boys for getting the one one i'm gonna assume he's just happy they got some points that emoji
Jerrell:the first away point, the first away point.
Will:Oh, see, there you go. There we go. Wait, no if switch was home
Jerrell:Oh, nevermind.
Will:Yeah
Jerrell:They stood up against Men United,
Will:you go. Yeah, i'm sure it's from a positive place and it has nothing to do with manchester united not winning so
Jerrell:their expected goal is twice as much as Men United,
Will:yeah it switched
Jerrell:fill in the blanks for a
Will:Yeah we'll let them write in next week. Yeah.
Jerrell:Yeah,
Will:my, my winner of the week is going to be the Wolverhampton walk Wanderers. They get a four, one, probably unexpected win against Fulham. They were down one early. They were able to get a goal back. And then the second half, they really just stormed Fulham has been playing really well, has been hovering around that like top eight spot most of the season. And then they just got their socks blown off of them. So wolves, I'm writing a string of. Positive momentum with the their last four four or so games if i'm not mistaken So wolves my winner of the week. I was gonna play wolves by kanye west I have to start just in the background, but I didn't have the time to set it up So gerald, you can get that in post. All right
Jerrell:Okay, I'll see
Will:A lot of pressure The audacity of me to ask he said gerald your winner of the week
Jerrell:my winner of the week is Just Orlando just the city of Orlando in the soccer world Orlando City wins their playoff game to go to the their first conference final ever Super exciting and of course we talked about earlier the pride when their First tournament hardware with the 1 0 result over the Washington Spirit. So City I don't know. Would you call it a soccer town? I don't know if I would compared to other cities in America,
Will:All I heard was that it came home drill
Jerrell:It came home.
Will:That
Jerrell:came home,
Will:the trophy came home, so
Jerrell:But, Orlando soccer is Bright this
Will:It's a huge part of the community. I'd say with the mix of population here. So we won't get too much into it, but a lot of Spanish population there and something to be proud of. A lot of teams have cities have a bunch of different sports. We have city, we have some women's hockey and we have obviously like the Orlando magic and whatnot, but a lot of people don't think about sports. When you think about Orlando, but soccer definitely very important. As Darrell, you mentioned, you show out to a lot of the games Orlando city in there. Their game home game their last playoff game was packed to the t so yeah, why not? It's partial city town I think the magic might have something to say it's up there for sure
Jerrell:are, yeah, Magic are doing well
Will:They're on the up and up so
Jerrell:Yeah, it's great. And then, what else? They had American football here in Orlando. Orlando just was just of sports
Will:yeah, you'll come visit you'll come visit too so we have the bubble
Jerrell:We don't just have Mickey Mouse. There's other things to do. But yeah Orlando soccer, my winner for the weekend.
Will:Nice. Nice. So Christian's loser. Let me pull it back up. Was initially city. And then he said it was too easy. Let's do full of them for also conceding four goals to relegation contenders. Wolves Christian, his loser is full of them. I'd say that was, isn't a relegation contender. If they can keep this motor momentum up. I think we have them finishing around 14th on our table, but Christian's loser full of them this week for a very unconvincing home form. So good shout for him.
Jerrell:sure. Yeah, Bulim just was completely flat and we'll talk more about this game and what the wolves What have been doing in the past couple Match days to, to move out of that last place spot.
Will:Yep.
Jerrell:yeah,
Will:Cool.
Jerrell:losers. I see it.
Will:And then so my loser of the week, and you don't really like to see people losing their job is part of the Part of just like soccer all over the world where you know, you're always on the hot seat It's a very results driven. My loser is going to be steve cooper not because he lost his job But because his players were seen in copenhagen with sign is saying oh enzo come back so enzo maresca, he left lycester city to go coach chelsea on the up and up playing really well under him Steve cooper vibe so bad. He didn't make it to Thanksgiving here. He didn't make it to christmas. For city a city licensor city complete continues to slide So my loser of the week was a licensor city
Jerrell:How long has he been manager
Will:Steve cooper
Jerrell:City?
Will:He just came up. So mariska got bought out and they just bought him in for so Maybe five months. I don't know his original start day. So
Jerrell:that's crazy. And the Lesser City's expectations are extremely high. They're, are they sitting in a relegation spot?
Will:They're currently 16th so they have two wins, four draws,
Jerrell:and Ipswich,
Will:yep, and then wolves, yeah, Ipswich tied with wolves on points at nine, Leicester City sitting at ten, so I think we predicted that Leicester City would be in that bottom quadrant, but tough couple weeks for them, they tied with Ipswich. 5 2 against Man City in the Carabao Cup. They lost 3 1 to Nottingham Forest. Their last win was against Southampton when they went 3 2, but since then, they're on a slide. They lost 3 0, Manchester United another 2 1. I think it's tough, but the vibes had to be off if you have players almost, I guess celebrating in a sense, or asking for your old coaches. For me, it had to be like a vibe there. Something wasn't meshing culture wise.
Jerrell:Right? don't see, yeah, lives have to be off. You don't see Southampton firing their manager or anything like that. I don't know, that's odd. It's a very I always think the NFL, I think the Carolina Panthers specifically, when they
Will:Haha,
Jerrell:their coaches in
Will:yeah. Yeah,
Jerrell:I know he wasn't the manager who got them promoted, but I don't know, there has to be like a learning curve being in the Premier League. I don't know Steve Cooper's resume
Will:I started to do a little bit of a lookup, but yeah, it's tough when, especially considering just like his previous like it's not a team with high expectations coming in. So you're not really expecting him to, bring you guys top 10 or anything. It's just a slider game. So like I said, for me, the biggest thing is it had to be just like there's something on a cultural level and like a buy in level that just wasn't happening. He was previously. Head coach in Nottingham Forest and Swansea City. So it was his first coaching gig since what End of 2023. So I mean he wasn't out for too long, but it yeah something definitely Some something just definitely wasn't jiving there So loser steve cooper not because of that but just yeah the buy in obviously wasn't there and they're on the slide So hopefully foxes find the right man to lead them through the rest of the season. They can hopefully stay up Yeah. Not
Jerrell:because I didn't double down on Tottenham I still picked against them and if I would have picked them, I think I would have at least been in a comfortable second
Will:to pick them. No, I
Jerrell:not the pickums. It's just it's just flip floppy Tottenham and I can't wait to get into that one because i'm just like the fuck?
Will:I yeah, a fan has to be very confused about what to feel about what's going on over there right now. So yeah, good shot drills his own loser this week. Self depreciating. You're a winner to us though.
Jerrell:appreciate it. Yeah, so we can jump into the matches I Didn't watch the luster city chelsea. No, I did watch that one. Actually. It just was not good. It was
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:for
Will:Yeah. Yeah.
Jerrell:obviously the better team sitting pretty in third right now on the table i'm if I remember that correctly and just taking care of business
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:good one. Good one for good, one for Chelsea. Unfortunate for Steve Co. Steve Cooper.
Will:Yeah, but yeah, we spoke at length about chelsea and what they're doing They're tied at third 20 22 points So chelsea arsenal brighton all the point back of city even though city's still on their slide They're point back with liverpool up. So as good as the start of the season I think chelsea could have asked for considering so
Jerrell:Yeah, for sure. I think I said it last week, it seems to be true if we're gonna go back to back weeks, but the cherries yeah,
Will:They got sizzled
Jerrell:Yeah, they got Sizzled it's Boardman drops points again to Brighton we're no longer riding high as well. Fashion, a pan moment, they helped out teams at the top of the table and they went right back To where they were I guess so we'll see. I don't really have high expectations for Bournemouth but unfortunate result Brighton definitely on a tear this year and proving a lot of people wrong at least the podcast.
Will:no, yeah, because even when they had their initial I think it was like the first eight games. They had their hot form We still had a lot of questions about them and they're just finding ways to get results in brighton So shout out the seagulls. I'm still playing well tied there Seven points clear of burnmouth. So I mean burn there and they're nine points out away from liverpool right now I mean they're there's a world where next week's results hold and burnmouth is sitting second and second in the league I mean Shout out bryden. I also meant to shout out nicholas jackson as well He continues this vehicle scoring monster for chelsea I totally spaced on that and then your sizzle cherry spark bought it back to me Shout out nico. He's just fantastic to watch an electric. But yeah burnmouth. They're The sizzle of the cherry the spark. I don't even know what the fuck it is. I think i'm a little drunk right now but burnmouth and Focus on the positives there. They wrote some positive results to start the season and They're a little bit more clear of the relegation zone and so hopefully they can get a turnaround coming soon. So yeah
Jerrell:Yeah, for sure I was expecting a match between Arsenal and Nottingham Forest it Arsenal was just like,
Will:Return to form.
Jerrell:They were just like Odegaard being back his second game back, I believe,
Will:Yeah
Jerrell:Helping putting it all together, Sokka's goal was disgusting. That team, Arsenal they look good. If we could roll back the clock and just, let's get a restart on three weeks, they would, could get all those games back. But yeah, no, it's a good response. It's a game that they needed. It's a statement game, I feel like. They tied in goal differential, I believe, with Chelsea, so they're technically tied for third. They're staying a striking distance.
Will:Yeah point back to city and like it really just felt like a throwback to games early in the season where there's just control and if anything to odegaard just putting his stance put his stamp back on the team and where I really feel is just like It is odegaard's team and everyone around him. There's plenty of quality But just like I think this team ticks with him because he's been playing For a guy who just came back from a ligament injury and out for two months. He's been in the game. He hasn't he's I know he got subbed this week But he's just putting up more minutes than you expect the guy working back in he came back He's there and you see the creation and you see there's, there hasn't been like a lot of like stagnant moments in the games and just the work he puts in so vital. So Arsenal is autoguards team in my eyes and we're glad to have him back because now we're back to comfortable, thrill results like start of the season, like against a wolves that we saw. So good. Good to have him back for sure.
Jerrell:Yeah, so hopefully arsenal hopefully for us. I don't know about anybody else who's listening to the pod,
Will:We're impartial. We're perforce person. We're perfect. We just want to close. We want a good run up to the title, right?
Jerrell:yeah, that's all we want. I wanted to come down to the last game One goal like to make it happen,
Will:And a Sokka banger to bring it home so I can cry and get, name my first child Bukayo.
Jerrell:to draw huge surprise for me, crystal palace sitting I believe it's 19th now and villa seems to be struggling. I they what that's five straight losses You
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:points in five straight games. They're struggling not as much as another team that we're going to talk about but their schedule congestion might be hurting them.
Will:Yeah, obviously we've mentioned a lot that they're gonna be, they're contending with Europe a lot, but they're, some tough results, 0 today against Juventus in Champions League. Crystal Palace was in control of this game for a lot, not in control, I'm sorry, cause I thought Aston Villa was bossing the game, but they were up 2 1 for most of the game, and Villa just kinda had to like, spark back and get it. I don't want to be i'm not like, 2020 vision hating but also a lot of their results They were getting a lot of late goals as well from john duran as we mentioned or whatnot So I mean between that close games being played fixture congestion right now their goal differential on the season. Is that zero? 19 scored 19, giving up so Between the pictures and whatnot. I Wonder how much of this is just an aberration and how much of this is like maybe this is their level but they have some questions and they have a lot of good pieces and whatnot So hopefully they can get back into it. But yeah tough stretch for them as well as they fall down to eighth on the table
Jerrell:Yeah, a lot of teams that we weren't expecting moving up to take their place Everton Brentford, I believe makes it back into the top 10 with the draw like you alluded to earlier. I was also expecting like a shootout here
Will:Yeah
Jerrell:Brentford goes down to 10 men, I believe it was before half time, and, basically just had to build a wall and keep Everton out. There was a moment late for Brentford, surprisingly, they could have gone ahead, but it didn't materialize, and yeah we get no points in this one.
Will:brentford tough result, with the tie so as you stated I mean shout out to them for being able to hold they get their first away points on the road, but not a lot going on in the recap that I tried to like skim through this game, honestly. It's just like Brentford held on, Everton couldn't get a goal. 0 0. Go figure.
Jerrell:Yeah, only 0 0 of the match week,
Will:And then I think the rest of these results and games got a little weird, yeah.
Jerrell:Oh, yeah, definitely. Yeah, full of wolves definitely got weird. I was watching that one I was just like on the gold rush and I just kept seeing goal at the bottom goal at the bottom I was like, oh it's full i'm winning and then you just check in and it's just no wolves are just scoring all of these goals So it's crazy. Wolves and their past four. They've collected points in their past four they went draw win and then another win. So definitely working their way out of Relegation zone and some might argue that they never really belong down there. Anyways, they're always like a middle table Maybe to the low, but they were never like threatening to be relegated. So we'll just finally putting it together. It was a completely different team
Will:8 points in the last couple games for them when they started with one point through that city loss they took a couple weeks ago. Yeah, so shout out Wolves. There's a lot of like tough games to start their schedule, which I don't think did them any favors, but great rebound for a team that looked like they were cooked a couple weeks ago. So yeah, wolves shout out to them because if you told me 4 1 and Fullam was at home without Fullam's been playing, you'd assume Fullam would have taken the results. So Fullam's at 9th. And wolves sitting at 17th. They're tied with ip switch, but better goal differential point away from city licensor city and two points off of everton
Jerrell:yeah, what was expected goals 1. 3. So they were just like They're just scoring
Will:the margins are thin man
Jerrell:Yeah Just wow. All right Man City and Spurs. I said it last week Spurs were gonna beat Man City cuz I don't know why But I didn't think they'd beat him 4 0. I didn't think James Madison was Like
Will:cleared them,
Jerrell:and Quickly,
Will:yeah
Jerrell:points up fast.
Will:Madison showing class with a brace in over seven minutes in the first half and said he never really bounced back.
Jerrell:That one and subbing on, and I don't know, maybe Man City should have subbed on Des Moines earlier, I think he came on in the 72nd minute, but he's also coming back from injury, so you don't want to too much, and maybe the game was already just out of sight at that point,
Will:Yeah
Jerrell:huge win for the Spurs, I would, any other team, I'd be like, the momentum is building, but knowing the Spurs, they'll probably just straight up lose next week,
Will:What i'll give them is just like even though their results have been very like wish washy it's just like they're they're not They're it's either a win or a loss and over two games. I'll take one win one loss I mean they're three points away from third realistically, so they're they're
Jerrell:the table.
Will:a couple weeks ago, we were just just oh, are they gonna get it around? That experience not for me personally like because each week you don't know what you're gonna get from them I think this might be their biggest win of the season I'm guessing and to get it on the road at that the head that's that's huge for them. So shout out spurs yeah, and this is also great for the
Jerrell:I don't put a lot of stock into that match because that was a struggling, probably
Will:And I think it's also like a big moment for postacoglu as well because I think this is like This can be like your standard like this is something you can point to and be like hey when we get it on a given day This is how you guys can play so you can point at that It's not you looking for something. It's something you can point to just hey when we get things, right? We can get a result we can do things. We just have to stay consistent and believe that we can get these results. So hopefully this turns into a more consistent run of form just impartially for them and they can you know make some noise at the top of the table I think I had them finishing like third this season was my belief in them. I'm coming into the season So
Jerrell:you had them really
Will:I had them in flip flopping take a liver spot, which, we'll see how that goes,
Jerrell:yeah, Spurs, absolutely clinical.
Will:And,
Jerrell:was a
Will:fuckin
Jerrell:by them,
Will:Yeah, what are your thoughts on Citi right now? They also tied to Feyenoord, they gave up a 3 goal lead to Feyenoord yesterday.
Jerrell:I haven't looked at the Champions League stuff, but as far as from a Premier League lens, you dropped three in a row now. But they're getting some players back.
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:I think it's really hurting them that they don't have Rodri on the field. I know De Bruyne was injured as well, so you are just missing pieces. It's like the same thing Arsenal is going through as well. You're missing key guys that you need on the field. City's gonna start getting some of those guys back, and they'll bounce back. It's still City. They're still talented, and Pep is still the manager, so it's no cause for concern, and they're still second place. You can lose three in a row and still sit in second, is, you don't, you're not that, you don't get that lucky. But I think they lost five straight matches between Champions League and Premier,
Will:Yeah
Jerrell:time in Pep's career
Will:Five and then dropped another one. So yeah, that was a lot of a lot of firsts and more records by pep Yeah, definitely losing five straight was the first and I think it's the first time since 56 since Defending champs have dropped lost that many games in a row as well So just more records more history, you know as he re upped on that two year
Jerrell:i'm just i'm not ready to Hit the panic button on man city yet if they lose next week, maybe we can readdress it, but it's still man city. It's still talent. It's still talented team still pep. Guadalajara. So
Will:I, I think the only note I'd have on it is just my only kind of thing is that people will point like, Oh yeah, Rodri's out and they're missing like a lot of players or whatnot. One, I thought it was wild that Grealish isn't getting More play and I feel like maybe that speaks a little bit to Jack Grealish's spot on the team But also Spurs are missing a lot of players as well. So Spurs playing without Rodrigo Betancourt missing Romero and whatnot So like I think they're missing like a good amount of players as well and something that like you manage so for like I said Maybe it's just me hoping it's more of a drop off than it actually will be they'll probably end up being fine for All the losing they've done. They're still in second. And closest to liverpool right now but just Weird, weird. 2024 finishing weird,
Jerrell:yeah, very weird southampton liverpool, I wasn't able to watch this game the scoreline suggests it was Extremely close. I don't know if that played out
Will:Saints were up 2 1 and then Mo Salah is just he's more out than in apparently contract wise. I think he said as far as my lineups, he's more in and out. But Mo Salah is on a fucking tear throughout this Premier League season. Another brace securing more points. We saw him do it against Arsenal when he put us away was able to equalize with us. He did it last week he's just been fantastic the more that his contract talks get closer and closer to a winter expiry. Yeah, Mo Salah was the difference, but Southampton Saints, they were up two, one, two, one. And then Salah hit the bun.
Jerrell:seems to be a theme with southampton
Will:and then now he's here. And then tractor boys got some points.
Jerrell:and the red devils split points with men united. I don't know men united is they're like He's restructuring a thing A rebuild is that even a thing in premier league because that's just where I sit and it's just like their results Are their results at this point? I don't think there's expectations for Man United this season, especially when you fire your manager during the season. So
Will:So yeah,
Jerrell:on
Will:yeah, for the most part, I'd say they got a quick goal from Rashford and but you bring in a new manager, you're going to be waiting to see, it's going to take them a while to mesh those ideas together and see what they can do. So it's not just Yeah, maybe sometimes you get a new hire and it galvanizes the team and pushes them through to a result. But Manchester United is in a position where there is going to take some time, especially with Them having to adjust to amaranth having to adjust to the fact that manchester united even though he was at club de portugal Which is huge there it's like a new another level of like just Size as far as what they're dealing with one of the biggest clubs in the world. They're sitting 12th on the table It's just it's we're coming up on december. So there's going to be a lot of pictures, but we'll see how that goes especially as they're still waiting for players to get healthy get back and get a little bit more clarity as far as what their lineups are but if you're just expecting emeryn to come in and all the problems to be, you know fixed as a United fan, I don't think that's a reality This is going to probably be something that's going to take a while to get right in you hope you sneak back into europe. It should be like maybe the end of season goal, but not an expectation per se
Jerrell:Yeah. I think that's like a stretchable for Man United. I feel like there's a lot of clubs that are playing better than them right now. Brighton is playing, Nottingham Forest. Yeah. They went down 3 0, they're still up there. Just Man United. I think if Man United gets in the top 10, just ten. They're trending in a good direction. We'll see. It's just wonky for them. It's just so weird.
Will:The table is also Super close. There's only three points out from Spurs who were just singing their praises So there's a lane. I just what I Wouldn't expect it. I guess like I don't expect Manchester United like break off 7 8 strong results or anything like that I feel like this is gonna be like very wonky especially until they get a little bit more healthy despite the talent on that team
Jerrell:that one so we can revisit it.
Will:Yeah, we're gonna, we're, I could, someone's going to be screaming through, it's these fucking quints, fucking, they don't know shit about footies, and then last fixture, that Newcastle West ham, 0 2,
Jerrell:the Hammers, they did it!
Will:They're fucking catfishing me, bro.
Jerrell:Laughter
Will:just they get the result, I don't even you, what are your thoughts, cause I'm upset I love that they won, but, I'm upset, cause I thought Newcastle would walk.
Jerrell:I didn't, I wasn't able to catch this one. It's just on paper Newcastle should take it. We know the Hammers have a leaky defense, but it is, West Ham who gets the clean sheet and two goals. So that one's just a weird one. If you missed it
Will:it seemed like a very Newcastle win. If you told me it would be like a 2 0 result or something like that, but yeah, tough. They got their early goal from Tomasz Cichek in the 10th minute and then they just kinda held out. I think Newcastle United, some of, maybe their shooting boots missing came up again, but we'll see how West Ham if they can keep up their 15, they're sitting on 15 points right now. So they're Only a point back of Manchester United, but I don't know what to think of this team, honestly.
Jerrell:Yeah. Yeah. That's how I feel about the Spurs.
Will:So quick UCL roundup, we mentioned City loss other notable results today. We had Liverpool, Real Madrid, Liverpool 2 0. They were able to get a result against Real Madrid as Real Madrid continues to, Be like a bizarro version of themselves. We'd shout out villa for the premier league. Angle of the pod outside of that yesterday psg lost 102 byron, gets a good result vincent company stated, when asked about oh, do you pay attention to where you're on the table? He's I don't fucking understand it. So I don't look at it. I'm assuming if we win we'll be higher up So I appreciate that. And outside of that, we also got Arsenal five, one got some revenge on sporting global, the Portugal rematch from last year's what was it around a 16 matchup where we eked out an extra time and then outside of that Barca gets a three Oh, went over breast at Letico Madrid, six over Sparta Braja. So right now if you're looking at the table, we're teams out PSG sitting 25th, they wouldn't qualify as of today. Outside of that, the other, I say most surprising team
Jerrell:24th.
Will:24. So yeah, they're in, if it were to end today, Aston Villa for finishing just right outside of that knockout, we'll get to play real Madrid as their lucky tie for finishing ninth. Three match days left. So it's starting to get a little dicey PSG realistically could miss real Madrid. You don't want to say they're gonna miss but like they haven't been able to put games together Unless it's against minnow. So weird results, I don't expect anything to really I don't expect either of those teams to miss but four points through five
Jerrell:a playoff?
Will:Oh fell out the group stage i'd have to look into that All right, my first I feel like it in the history of european europe possibly but Not any time recently for sure. So
Jerrell:right, yeah. Man, City's sitting 17th on this table.
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:They've been struggling as of late, I think they're our lowest League
Will:I think the biggest thing with them is just they've lost the control because even their goal different their expected goal wasn't terrible. From their, the Spurs game, but they were up three Oh, on Feyenoord out of Rotterdam, like the second biggest third biggest team out of like the Netherlands. And they fell apart over a span of 15 minutes. We'll see how it goes the vibes are not immaculate in city hence why the title between them and lycester was turned that city off turned that city after I don't know If you caught that little tidbit, I thought it was clever. It wasn't but yeah We'll see how the city goes over the next couple weeks
Jerrell:Yeah, we'll see how that all shakes up. All right, match day 13. I'll run through the
Will:Give it to me
Jerrell:we'll have Brighton vs. Southampton, Brentford vs. Leicester City. Crystal Palace and Newcastle, Nottingham Forest vs. Ipswich Tractor Boys, The Wolves vs. Bournemouth, West Ham vs. Arsenal, Chelsea vs. Villa, United vs. Everton, Tottenham vs. Fulham, and Liverpool vs. Man City. Ooh, Liverpool vs. Man City.
Will:I think I found gerald's game of the week. Yeah
Jerrell:Yeah! Is Man Premier games
Will:it, it doesn't get easier, yeah. Yeah,
Jerrell:kinda need Liverpool to start dropping points, so
Will:Just take a little bit of the pressure off yeah.
Jerrell:sides, so I always come out on
Will:It's time for that draw, that, the immaculate draw, right?
Jerrell:Arsenal, let's see if the hammers can rally off of their performance last week
Will:Fuckin hope not.
Jerrell:yeah, make it a little bit competitive for Arsenal. We'll see if Arsenal is truly riding the momentum and are they back. I did want to give a shout out to their 17 year old,
Will:Ethan Winery?
Jerrell:son, yeah, They were glazing him, hardcore when he subbed
Will:Not the glaze!
Jerrell:When he stepped onto the pitch and he got his, I believe his first Premier League goal. After subbing on, so it was a pretty solid goal too. So shout out to him, I meant to do that earlier.
Will:and he's come in a bunch of games this season where it's just like you see that he's playing with like passion and he's playing like to be decisive and make a difference in games as a 17 year old. So I feel like he really understands what Arsenal stands for and what the shirt stands for. And I think he has four goals of the year. Youngest player to play in a Premier League game as well. So Ethan Nguyen Eric coming alive, 17 years old. Go figure. Yeah.
Jerrell:When he works his way into the starting rotation. any other games you're looking at? I hope Brentford can beat Leicester City, we'll see. They're, Leicester City's in limbo, so yeah.
Will:I'm hoping Crystal Palace can get a result. Crystal Palace is having a tough season. Obviously, as we've spoken about previously, but let's see if they can get a result against Newcastle. They need to start getting something to shake because they're sitting in like a weird spot on the table currently. Outside of that Chelsea Villa, I feel like if we were talking about this game two weeks ago, we'd be like, oh, this is going to be a banger of a matchup. That'd be the other game that i'm also looking forward to currently
Jerrell:Oh yeah Chelsea's proving that they can compete with the top of the table time and time again. I don't think we need to say Oh, litmus test, let's see where they stand. They're fully capable of taking this game, especially against a reeling Aston
Will:Yeah and at home, yeah
Jerrell:that'll be a fun one to watch.
Will:Yeah, but I think that regardless of what the biggest result is going to end up being, that Liverpool Man City, there's going to be like a side I'm going to have a side eye to that Tottenham result, just to see if they can like, string anything together. Because if anything's told me is that we should expect Fulham to win this game by two goals. But we'll see how it goes, just off form, just more just like off trust. We'll see how it looks, but so definitely some fun matchups honestly. I don't really see a game that like, I'm going to be Completely swerving if i'm being completely honest because bryden's where they're riding that high flip side, I think the other game that maybe looks a little funny when you're looking at wolves burn myth But wolves is riding a streak. This cherries are trying to sizzle that spark. So I don't know
Jerrell:yeah, no, it's been sizzled, it's been sizzled. They
Will:my fault
Jerrell:yeah, they just need to play top of the table
Will:Yeah
Jerrell:To keep winning. I think Christian said that last week, they can only beat the good
Will:They're playing down to their competition, yeah
Jerrell:Yeah, this one that match is fun because you got one that's just they got all the momentum and the other one is just They're just falling straight back down to Let's see if there's a equilibrium
Will:Yeah, but yeah besides that anything else going on drill anything you want to shout out
Jerrell:Oh, yeah, shout out to orlando city conference
Will:Book. Yes, sir
Jerrell:If they can win I may or may not be buying tickets to la or seattle. We'll see
Will:What's that the crazy road trip bro, let's see
Jerrell:No, if it's in L. A., the round trip is 200 a person, so that's
Will:That's not bad at all. Oh my boys already putting in the work But this man's putting his eyes to it bro by the tickets now, bro. Don't don't cower out
Jerrell:I can't. I gotta get the insurance.
Will:that shit.
Jerrell:get the insurance. If something goes sideways, I just say I have COVID.
Will:There you go. Oh no. Oh no. They're like, Hey, Drell. So you said you have COVID and they're just going to play that back. I'm going to be like, okay, we have a listener in Seattle. Here we go.
Jerrell:We, we do have a listener in L. A. though, so
Will:Oh shit.
Jerrell:No, see, I was a little bit more
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:fly I'm like L. A. Galaxy, maybe, but L. A. Galaxy looking real scary. They won 6 2 against Minnesota
Will:What? What?
Jerrell:Sunday, I believe.
Will:Can't wait to see how that goes. So we'll be watching that game so I can hear about drills. Next journey, next adventure. And
Jerrell:won another trophy in Orlando, come on! I want to see the banners!
Will:home again,
Jerrell:Yeah.
Will:but
Jerrell:parade.
Will:yeah, but next week we'll cover match day 13 Christian should be back. Maybe we'll be here. Who knows? Besides that drawing things, do you want to shout out anyone on to say?
Jerrell:Oh, no, that's it for me who appreciate you guys listening and we'll catch you next
Will:Happy Thanksgiving.
Jerrell:Happy thanksgiving everyone
