Fútbol Fellas
See! We can be Consistent
Episode 26, football fellas! Champions League was today.
Christian:A lot of games, a lot of soccer, lot of goals.
Jerrell:What was it? Eight
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:games today
Will:All of
Jerrell:heard 33 goals in the first half
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:all Premier League all Premier League teams advance to the next round whether you like it or not But we're not here to talk about Champions League what we're here to talk about the premier Yeah, I'll talk about champions a little bit. We're not gonna
Will:champions. I
Jerrell:deep dive into it.
Will:I'm willing to dive,
Jerrell:Oh sure
Will:there.
Jerrell:is our priority Premier League is what we care about.
Christian:You're not my dad.
Jerrell:Okay. Whatever. But I can't tell you to give me the match day 24. Is that the correct?
Christian:I think match day 20, Trace.
Jerrell:I don't know if that's correct. What matched me? Matt, what, what,
Christian:at
Jerrell:what match week is
Christian:It's
Jerrell:it?
Christian:23.
Jerrell:It can't be
Will:I wrote the answer for a
Jerrell:for episode 26.
Will:Yeah, dro.
Jerrell:What?
Will:Technically we should be on episode like or something with our little
Christian:Hiatus, vacation.
Will:8i. Yeah,
Jerrell:alright
Christian:match day 23
Jerrell:sorry, I'm getting sick. I don't know what Match Day it is.
Christian:Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, we just, we just brushed past the, the, the most important part. Any shoutouts, guys? Any, anything to say to our listeners?
Jerrell:Don't get sick!
Christian:That's,
Jerrell:your vitamin C.
Will:Stay hydrated.
Jerrell:Stay hydrated. Yep.
Christian:of the day kiwis have more vitamin C than oranges, sun gold
Jerrell:You heard it here first. New Zealanders have more vitamin C than oranges. Hehehe.
Christian:That's not what I meant when I said eat kiwis.
Will:We'll fix it in post with AI.
Christian:All right. Match day 23 results. Here we go. Also shout out to our listeners. Love y'all. Hopefully within the next 10 years, you guys can pay our bills. With that being said match day, 23 for the
Jerrell:They don't have to do anything they don't want to. Hehehe.
Christian:them to.
Will:Yes, they do. Your overlords demand it. Pay our bills.
Christian:Bam. All right, we got Arsenal beating the Wolves 1 0. We got the Cherries beating Tricky Trees 5 0, an onslaught of goals. We have Everton beating Brighton 1 0, Liverpool, Liverpool beating the Tractor Boys 4 1. The Newcastle beat Southampton 3 1, Man City beat Chelsea 3 1. Brentford beat Crystal Palace 2 1. Tottenham unsurprisingly lost to Leicester City
Jerrell:No, not that surprising. I knew that was happening.
Christian:That's what unsurprising means, no? Aston Villa and West Ham tied 1 1. And Man United beat Fulham 1 0. All right guys, let's let's let's do let's let's dive let's go straight forward. Any of these matches stand out
Jerrell:Yeah. Cherries over forest five zero. I had a feeling the cherries could win that game. I didn't think that they would win that five. Oh,
Christian:Yeah,
Jerrell:That was something definitely,
Christian:pretty impressive in
Jerrell:definitely surprised.
Christian:right now. You have four points differentiating spots three to four tricky trees looked a little comfortable up there at the top. I I see A world worth cherries can can flip flop with the trees. I wouldn't say they make it to the third but I do see the the Tricky trees have a pretty tough schedule coming up if I'm not mistaking. I think their next 10 games I believe i'm the mistake not their next game So the next handful of matches are against all teams that are in the top 10 of the table right now Where the cherries apart from liverpool? And on an 11 game match, they do have an easier schedule ahead of them. So the only four points I do see for me taking over and getting on top of the trees,
Will:So you don't believe in the Freaky Forest, is that what I'm hearing?
Christian:I love me some freaky forest, bro. I love me some Nuno Espiritu Santo.
Will:just have a bad game. We can't just say, hey fuck it, purge this one and move
Christian:Who's we? Yeah.
Will:just saying hypothet whatever guys. Fuck y'all, attractor boys and bees over here. I'm just saying. Forest, they've had a good season. They've gotten some
Jerrell:What are the three one?
Christian:Yeah. All of a sudden they're top three. It's we. We took our teams. Where were their teams from? The muck.
Will:It it
Christian:boys.
Will:supporting arsenal. But no, yeah, I think it, I think if you're not even for us, you take it as one of those games, four goals in the second half, it was closer than the first goal differential. Wasn't too crazy. It just felt like one of those games that really got away from them. Outlier in the season. Burn myth, they've been getting results against some quality teams as well. If you're nodding him, you just purge this game, get it out. it's a tougher schedule going forward, but every week as we've seen this week is a tough game. So you show up every day, you get the result, and you see what you can do. But I'm not gonna Fade Forest yet. Not, not, not 23 days in. 20 games in? I wasn't a believer, but right now I'm believing in Forest. Top 6 finish. It's coming. It's coming to you now. And if it doesn't happen, I definitely jinxed it. So that's on me, fam.
Christian:Who do you got on top in the next At the end of February, who do you have higher on the table? None of them or the cherries.
Will:I will cover that when I actually do the Power Rankings update that I promised today. I'll do it next week. So I'll
Jerrell:I want to hear it. I want to hear it now.
Will:Pay for the Patreon. Pay for the Patreon.
Jerrell:I want to hear it now.
Will:and other news. And other news. Gerald's sick and deluded. Other news and other
Christian:He's off that tussin. Jesus,
Will:over Brighton. Everton's been struggling a lot of the season. Not a lot going on this game. Ilima, Iliman and Diae He got a penalty in the first half. Bryden just couldn't find anything to get it going as well So Bryden suffering a slip against the lower table team versus kind of the results. They've been getting against higher table
Jerrell:Yeah, Brain looking like pretenders. Had a very strong first half of the season and they've just been They've just been dropping. They, they have no more tricks up their sleeve. They can't, they can't sustain the success. They're, they're falling off. Bye bye.
Christian:bro. That tussin got you crazy.
Jerrell:Yeah,
Will:drills off of molly bushels lean packet over there. trying to feel better but
Christian:What
Will:You we'll see, and the window's still open, they typically do good business I heard Evan Ferguson might end up being a casualty off the team, he might have a deal already set, just depending on if some other transfer dominoes fall over the coming days, so that'll be fun to watch as well. Otherwise, Christian, what happened with Ipswitch? Cause WiseMedia told me that you could get a draw this week. you also said they could get a draw the week before that when they lost
Jerrell:was a lone tractor call from the stadium quickly snuffed out.
Christian:and we'll talk about it a little bit later, is a victory in this upcoming week. We're playing against
Jerrell:We'll talk about today. Yeah.
Christian:They forgot to oil their tractors, 4 1 against liverpool. was a tough showing they just played man city. They they're they've been on a rough stretch of games All right. It's I still believe in my tractor boys. We're gonna we're gonna Make it out of relegation zone. Hopefully, here we go, but not much to say I mean they played a top rank for liverpool lost 4 1, the season is just starting, so
Will:Still a lot of games left. Still a lot of games left. We can touch on it real quick. Spurs upset by the Foxes in this one. We're,
Jerrell:My favorite thing from the men in blazers. Ranking list, Leicester City healed by Dr. Tottenham.
Will:yeah Kulusevsky, he had some comments in regards to Ansh Postakaglu talking about when they dismantled Man City earlier in the season and the fact that his words is that we're 10 guys who are healthy every week week to week with how many fixtures we play. So I'd say bright side, ON seems to still have the buy in from the locker room hats off to some of their better games, I mean that gold differential is still in a good place. Spurs have been dealing with the fact that, I saw like a graphic where you could put together like a decent starting 11 with just the sheer number of players that are out currently. You're midway through the season in the Kind of just working through like just a kind of a tougher part You know before European spots and just like with the congestion December Carabao Cup FA Cup and whatnot Currently, so I think it's good despite them what one win in their last 11
Jerrell:Stats took five. I
Will:pie in from your spurs You still have buy in for those players It seems like more directed at the board where you're seeing just kind of like well This is a time to get some investment. And so Yeah, you want to keep the momentum forward? I think they started the season Okay a little bit inconsistent and you're seeing just kind of like this wrong long drought and this is the time when you reinforce so that way know, a team that I had, they should be challenging for some European spots. I feel like that
Jerrell:think we all did.
Will:outlandish. Yeah. You're now sitting more still around like those West hands and whatnot. We'll, we'll see how the rest of the window goes. We had to the third to make some moves. But it's really easy to derail. They've already said that they're going to stick with Ange, but it's really easy to derail that positive momentum with a three month, just bad run of form just off of sheer Not having the bodies to get through the season. So I know we usually shit on Spurs and just talk about Oh yeah. Obviously Spurs has done and do the thing, but tough situation for them in North London.
Jerrell:Yeah.
Christian:any chance they go ahead and just sell this season? I mean they they do have they are in the europa league. They're actually sitting sixth place They have a game tomorrow against hold osborg So any chance they could just go ahead and sell this season just to see how far they can get in the europa league
Will:Week to week, you still have to be competitive though. Like you can't just tell the players, Hey, we're going to focus for these fixtures coming up in February, March, April, because then if that, you don't get the results over there,
Jerrell:Then what,
Will:the
Jerrell:what do you have? Set a
Will:what is the equivalent of their spring break,
Christian:Laughter
Will:that I'm thinking about it? In the NBA, so it's Cancun on three, one, two, three. I don't know what they do. Is it, is it
Christian:You beat him?
Will:that's a C s maybe,
Jerrell:course for Monte Carlo.
Christian:That's amazing
Will:That'll be all, Donkey, that'll be all. But I don't, I think for what they're trying to build. Same kind of thing with Manchester United. It's just Hey, we, we got to find a way to get results. Despite the constraints we deal with. And then when you get healthy, hopefully you can keep it. But who knows? Who knows? We'll, we'll see if that, maybe that's the thing they have. They're still alive and care about, didn't they have a result over Liverpool in their first fixture or they might've tied, forgot. Christian's working on that. He's my stats guy.
Jerrell:Stats guy, go!
Christian:On the carabau I
Will:Sass guy tractor.
Christian:have to do further Laughter
Will:and on the flip side, shout out to the foxes. They are able to come back. They snapped a seven game straight where they hadn't gotten a win. So that's big for them especially in consideration that they're looking at a relegation battle. So I think that moved them,
Jerrell:Puts the one point above the, above the regulation spot. Yep.
Will:one point above the drop. So that's big for them going forward. Spurs just fucking up everyone's season. So
Jerrell:Yee.
Will:My stats guy is still downloading so we could, we could, Oh, I thought you were ready, my fault.
Christian:1 AFL Cup and they beat Tamworth 3 0 in Tamworth.
Will:Yeah, so second leg of the Carabao will be against Liverpool, so There's still a chance for them to get, it's a lesser cup, but hey, a trophy's a trophy with the way their season's looking, another team facing relegation since we're in the area, we can go ahead and do the Arsenal red card watch. we want
Jerrell:Oh yeah
Will:Arsenal get the 1 0 result over Wolves and Molyneux. Tough game red card first half on
Christian:I'm lost.
Will:Lewis Skelly. Christian saw, saw my reaction to it when I showed it to him. I was cursing up a storm while dressed up like a pirate and shit. Second half, Joel Gomes, he picks up another one after, he probably had a couple opportunities to pick up another yellow, and Ricardo Calafiore, the beautiful Italian we have over there, he's able to get a very nifty, shot goal, just four minutes after the second red that was given out Arsenal gets the three points, but Michael Oliver under a lot of heat for his past track record against Arsenal.
Jerrell:He will not be reffing the Arsenal Man City game. I
Will:Yeah
Christian:Is that for sure or we still don't know because I
Jerrell:think it's for sure. I think the VAR guy I've, I don't remember his name, England will be, yep, he won't be officiating that one either. That's from Reddit. But, I would have to confirm.
Will:From our sources!
Jerrell:Yes, one of our sources read, read it.
Will:Dit.
Jerrell:Yeah, yeah.
Will:but, it sucks because I know we always joke about it and you squint at the lines and it's like a little weird, but it's just also the thing where it's just kind of like, naturally, there will be biases typically, like especially for big clubs against smaller clubs, and That's hard to foster out, but it's just I think the track record that he has covering Arsenal games or Everton games or whatnot. It's just so much worse versus City, who he has Saudi ties for with the money he makes refing some of their games or whatnot. So it's just kinda,
Christian:Money, money, money.
Will:tough game. It's a tough line where it's just you don't want to undermine your refs that you have week to week, because then everyone, everything could fall apart, but it's also right in front of us. It's a yellow, I think, on MLS, it's a reckless challenge, but to be a straight red, I think that's a tough call, especially when it's someone who's not giving red cards to City, considering he's trying to keep the beauty of the game going and whatnot. Outside of some other results, so tough luck, obviously, the death threats towards his family and stuff, it's a lot. But also, We don't want to have this season come down to just Oh, these couple calls are looking a little funny in the light,
Jerrell:yeah, for sure. For sure. Tough challenge too. I don't know. I, I was able to watch it as well. This is but where's denial of scoring opportunity? Don't see it.
Christian:never
Jerrell:Just,
Christian:last man foul in the opponents, the other two thirds of the field. That should be no sense.
Will:too, than him, so it's not like he was like, Open field whole field in front of him, and also the other thing was like, It was, I think the reasoning was that it was a high studs challenge that would put him in danger, but it just wasn't enough for me to especially hit that threshold of straight red, and I don't think you'll usually see that called. Other Arsenal news, they seem to be really trying to get a 9, but I'm worried that We're not this point. So me and Christian were talking beforehand, Arsenal Benjamin Sesco looks like he's not leaving. I think that's who they were really holding, holding out for to see if they can get a January move. It looks like if that business were done, it'd be in the summer for around 75 million pounds. So it looked like they tried to put 60 mil down for Ali Watkins today that got rebuffed and John Duran. He's headed to the Saudi rig, pack your bags out in the desert for 77 million euros. He has a five and a half year. Christian, as our Colombian correspondent how do you feel about this?
Christian:not, not great. We have like our other he doesn't start for the Columbia national team. He, he sits on the bench. Like our other starter Cordova, he plays in Russia. I wouldn't say it's a more competitive league than I guess Saudi at this moment with all the money they're dropping, but it's tough to see. I mean, they're all grown men, but
Will:Duran's 21 and Cordoba is just like
Christian:yeah, he's a, yeah. Okay. Yeah. yeah, that, that's, that's another thing. I'm sorry, dude, I has a lot of experience, like a lot of time to get better, to, to evolve. So going so early yeah, they must've thrown that money on them. Also Aston Villa probably didn't want to sell him to someone in the same league as them. But yeah, making that move to Al Nasr it's, it's, It's a little disappointing. It's a little disappointing. You you'd want to see him like excel in the, in the major tournaments in the major leagues. But now he's gonna be getting assists or assisting CR seven. So shout out to him for securing the bag, taking care of his family for the longterm. But it sucks because he does have a lot of potential. He is he's a great player for being so young, but we'll see. Hopefully he develops. Hopefully after these five years, you can go and actually. something better in a better league. I wouldn't say do something better, but play in a better league. That's more competitive.
Will:Yeah, and even for me, even like the, from the villa standpoint, I get it cause John Dren's also just you haven't seen him do it over a full season. It's a lot of potential, you can
Christian:They don't let him shine
Will:there's some other tendencies you see where he's very much just like a score first striker. A couple times where he might not be like the, he won't cycle the ball as much as you'd like sometimes. Just because of the irrational confidence. Maybe even you have to be, Not just to be an athlete, but also just to be like a fucking nine at that level.
Christian:shooters. Shoot.
Will:Other things with temperament and whatnot just coming off the bench frustrated with the role and whatnot but yeah, I would have loved to see Just to see if he could become like a burgeoning like danger man, especially at a higher level But as you said can understand I thought business wide villa would move off of walk ins get a good fee and then develop their own But I guess the money was right It but it looks like I doubt villas gonna want to move off of walk ins considering where they are on the table So that leaves arsenal Cunha for moves. I don't think he'd be worth the price I guess or Also, the opportunity to maybe get a Benjamin Sesko in the summer. But, I, I feel like the fanbase might riot if we don't win the championship if there's no, reinforcements spotted in this window, tough decision, I think, at Arsenal boardroom level.
Christian:Yeah,
Jerrell:right.
Will:Okay.
Christian:Yeah, definitely. It's tough. Like we've been on striker watch for the longest time now. And it was like, maybe we just need a nine. We just need a nine and we just are not getting our nine. So yeah, hopefully summer, summer window, better signings.
Will:just grow on trees, Christian. It's not like you can just, oh, go to I don't know, a school of sorts and just pull out, teenage footballers out of nowhere that that wouldn't make any sense. So
Jerrell:I was going to say, just
Christian:can,
Jerrell:crawl down into your nine cannon and shoot yourself off to nine land where you could pick nines off trees. I think always sunny's back.
Christian:you got
Jerrell:It's an always,
Will:You're
Jerrell:an always sunny joke. Yeah.
Will:Probably fixture that we coming into it city chelsea at that diode, city able to get a 3 1 result nanny, nanny madueka. He's able to get our early goal off of a mistake from kuznov man city Looks like they're firing off and getting some signings in this window Um Uh, last minute but then Man City gets back on track at a comfortable 3 1 lead Over Chelsea putting them back despite Man City's run of form. They're back in fourth to finish the match today
Jerrell:Are we surprised by this result? I think I am. 3 1 over Chelsea. It's pretty solid.
Christian:I think your cat is too. Yeah.
Jerrell:Yeah,
Will:She said wow
Jerrell:yeah
Christian:A little bit. Chelsea has a lot of young talent like Chelsea has been playing really well this, this season. So we were hoping and also on the fuck you man city energy. Yeah.
Will:chill
Jerrell:yeah, I need to, I need to bring them in,
Christian:I thought the cat said, fuck man, city two. but yeah, I, I I wasn't necessarily surprised that they lost, I was surprised by the scoreline.
Will:Sorry, I muted myself, but no, I reasonable city Chelsea's had a little bit of a slide cities obviously were more expounded on it looks like cities a little bit of reinforcement. Kyle Walker's gone. That kind of affected almost their result today against Bruges in Champions League. But, City looks like they've rounded out and, found some semblance of stability again. In patches at least. Edsy had at home. I don't think it was like, City bossed or anything like that. I think they just were able to come back, take the lead, and then finish off. Make sure they got all the points. Didn't leave anything on the plate, we'll have to say I wouldn't say it's fully surprising, given Chelsea's run of form. They've been a little cold, but also don't want Sidney to be back when Arsenal's about to play him within a week or two. So, want them to stumble a little bit more, but we'll see how that goes. And then, Jerell, your bees, what happened over them with Crystal Palace?
Jerrell:They, they won, they got that, they got that road victory, so I wasn't able to really watch it,
Will:The
Jerrell:but
Will:ride again.
Jerrell:the road bees, they barely ride when they leave the hive, but they needed it today, or sorry, on Sunday against Crystal Palace.
Christian:Yeah. Snap. The five game unbe streak. Shout out for the win.
Will:know, they MBMO had a retake for the first goal and they're in, they're able to win it late. So B's back on track. They keep that gap over them. They're, they're sitting in 10th. I believe.
Jerrell:Eleventh,
Will:Ah, ah, almost, almost,
Jerrell:yeah,
Christian:10.
Jerrell:two points out of the top ten,
Will:outside of that, we good with the match day results.
Jerrell:we are, we are,
Will:All right. Y'all ready for some, you're ready to talk about a chance champions league experience.
Christian:Yeah, let's do it.
Will:I watched all these games concurrently, right? And I feel like the whole UCL window is leading up to just like the spectacle of what the last day could mean. Realistically, I think the only teams that were on like shock alert for like a casual is probably man city, PSG, PSG, we're able to take our early lead behind Usman Dembele early brace. They had a crazy corner kick that led to a crazy set piece situation where Barcola was able to get ahead of her So they were through on Stuttgart pretty early. Man City left it late though. They were down 1 0 at halftime they were nervous. They were definitely nervous, but they're able to eat through their result as well early on but we finally after I don't even remember 189 games. I forgot the exact number of games played We finally have a top 36 the group phase is complete guys I'm not sure how much you guys were able to watch but what are your thoughts on the format after this four month expedition we've taken the season. Any surprises? Still need a little bit more time to take it all in. Where are you guys with it?
Christian:I don't think I'm a fan of all the games at once. Like I, I love me Mia. NFL, red Zone situation. We're just switching back and forth, back and forth.
Will:but yes.
Christian:Yeah, but just as this like this final game, I wasn't a fan because like soccer, it's hard to bounce back and forth between like soccer games because like you like to see the development. You like to see how the game goings on. It's not like just just like scores and stuff like that. So a fan of so many games at once. I did only watch breast in Madrid. And that was fun.
Will:Rodrigo said put some respect on my name today.
Christian:Yeah, that first goal was, it was really nice. Shout out, shout out to Rodrigo. He, played really well today.
Jerrell:yeah, I only caught the Arsenal game today, I could not find the Colosso network because I was trying to watch from my computer. So it was, and I was going through Amazon or prime video. So it was a little bit more awkward to navigate that. But yeah, 18 games is a lot to keep up with. I just, I found myself clicking between that one and the Barcelona game. He's no, what I'm just going to settle on the Arsenal one.
Christian:But
Jerrell:just going to watch that one.
Christian:but if our listeners wants to keep up with all of the shit show that happens whenever there's 18 games, they should follow us on Twitter because our, we got a new intern. He was really killing it in the,
Jerrell:Twitter slash X.
Christian:It's still Twitter. It's still Twitter. Yeah, our Twitter account, we kept up to speed by we, I mean our intern and by our intern. William Rodriguez.
Will:it
Christian:Yeah, kept up to speed on every single game.
Jerrell:Did you tweet every goal?
Will:I,
Christian:almost
Will:bit of a gap in some of them. I'm not gonna lie. I think there was like a 10 minute window where around halftime where I was like, I could just take a nap. That'd be crazy.
Christian:We, we let, we let our intern have bathroom breaks.
Will:I don't think y'all did. y'all did.
Jerrell:I didn't even know it was happening.
Will:But, obviously they had to do it concurrently because if you're a team that you know needed a result like let's say Stuttgart they finished on 10 points and you're going into it in your Bruges let's say or something like that then you can obviously just wait out a game or just force out a draw depending on how it goes out so I understand that part. It's also Definitely jarring. I just wanted to do the goloso on this one just because I was just like how many goals could be scored But I definitely would prefer to probably just lock in obviously on one team. Liverpool get their first loss. They finish top of the table. Um Well, I guess i'll just go through the top eight essentially that who so they won't be playing in the knockout round so one day we have liverpool barcelona arsenal enter atletico madrid leverkusen Lille and Astonville, Lille beating the shit out of Feyenoord, just beating their head against the wall
Christian:Yeah,
Will:It was just cruel at some point.
Christian:6 1.
Will:said chill, they get it, damn, at some point. But tough day for Feyenoord after they equalized early. But all of those teams will not be playing in the knockout stage, going straight to the round of So we have three EPL teams there we have two LaLiga teams, And then, what one of French, Italian, and,
Jerrell:German.
Will:thank you. Would you guys say Lil is the biggest surprise out of all these, or?
Jerrell:I don't, I don't know,
Will:Reasonable, fair enough. Outside of that, 9 24, I won't touch on all of them. Atalanta, late after, couldn't get a result Villa was also able to pull ahead in their matchup today. Celtic they finish in ninth Real Madrid 11th, Manchester United 12th. So one of those teams will be facing Man City who eked it out in the 22nd in their first matchup. The other person will get Celtic. We might see some more fun matches early up earlier on in this tournament than we'd usually see. I don't know if that will be the norm going forward, but when you have a window between 4 points from 9th to 24th there's a lot of variance that can happen. Does it mean a lot? I don't know, but I enjoyed the 18 game experience of just a lot going on, a lot of shifting. I thought there was like good coverage on it, so you can keep track of what each goal meant. Towards the end, I think a lot of the spice was out, especially once Bruges folded over. They played well against City, but just couldn't. Hold on to give us our big surprise of the day
Jerrell:you can only keep the magic going for so long
Christian:Yeah, let's, let's look at this table. Surprised. You've got Borussia Dortmund sitting at 10th. They're on a slide right now. I think they're sitting like 11th in the,
Jerrell:and they just fire their manager
Christian:did they?
Will:got fired last week. Yes, sir, and I think they they're bringing in kovac Not nico. Sorry. I should be better. But they did now it's like their new coach I think earlier today or yesterday something like that. I'll check on that in the meantime
Christian:Yeah, but we got Dortmund sitting on 11th in the Bundesliga. Made it up to 10 on the, in this one. I don't know who they play on the next one. Let's see. Nope. Can't.
Jerrell:In Bunes League or in Champions League. Is that out?
Will:they'll get they're gonna do a drawing to decide but since they're not what 10 11 Yeah
Christian:Yeah.
Will:So 9 10, I think they're either going to get 24 or 23, so I think it's either going to be Sporting or Bruges. If I remember it correctly, because that shit is fucking confusing. Go figure, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be
Christian:Oh, they play Atalanta.
Will:24. Why?
Christian:I don't know.
Jerrell:the doorman play's at Atlanta.
Will:What?
Christian:So it's, it's a weird bracket here. So it's going to be Atalanta plays Borussia and the winner of that Either sporting Lisbon versus club Bruges then fight for the right to play. I'll, I'll send you guys this quick link
Jerrell:Is it because they're seated? I don't understand.
Will:one. It's not that they're playing each other, it's going to be one of those two teams are going to be playing One of those other two teams, so it's like 10 against 24, 23 and 9 against 24, 23 So it's
Christian:Oh, that's weird.
Will:yeah. Yeah, I was just like I was like if that was the case I was like, you know what we're done with UCL this year cuz that's that's dumb cuz then you'd be penalizing like Teams who finished best by playing against better teams and going out early
Christian:Oh shit. So the switch, the toughest one here, it looks like it's going to be in the same one you got man city or Celtic versus Bayern or realm Madrid.
Will:Whoever City's playing. Yes, pretty much
Christian:That's crazy.
Will:Yeah, yeah, and then so they'll do a draw
Christian:Or Celtic.
Will:remember right on Saturday. Hey what was that a couple years ago when I think it was like inter Barcelona and Bayern Munich and then it was like Victoria Pilsen or something who was there and there's a meme related to this historic video Scene you might know from your youth but that was highlighted. I was just kind of like, this is what happened. And then Barcelona finished there. They, they went last on the train. However, anyway, but yeah, they'll do a draw for that this Saturday. And then after that the, when they do the seating for the round of 16, we'll have a full out bracket. So usually round around, they would do a draw each time. We'll know exactly who's going to play one at who, at what time after the knockout phase. All these words are new to me. Fun stuff. Fun stuff. Very easy. Not hard to follow at all. Streamlined for the casuals.
Christian:This is fucking weird.
Jerrell:I think we're not a Champions League podcast.
Will:Yeah. Anyway, Matchday 24 preview. Are we ready for it? Do we have our UCL fill?
Christian:filled up.
Jerrell:All good. Ready for the next.
Will:Alright, I'll take it. Matchday 24, coming in for your head top. So this weekend we have Forrest against Brided. They said Forrest was dead, I think their future looks bright. Burnmouth, Liverpool, Liverpool, please lose. Everton, Leicester, this might have big ramifications for who stays up at the end of the year. Ipswich Tractor Boys,
Christian:Oh,
Will:me! Don't sell, but the Saints are marching in. Newcastle Fulham, we have Wolves against Villa. Will they have Olly Watkins? Most likely they will, but they won't have John Duran. Brentford versus Spurs. Spurs, are they healthy enough? They're playing at the G Tech. Good God, may God bless their soul. Man U, Crystal Palace, later on the day. Man U, look like shit this week, but three points are three points. Arsenal City, I knew it was coming, I swear to God,
Christian:Oh, that's this week.
Will:fuck on me
Christian:That's this week.
Will:the Emirates, here we go, and then we have Chelsea vs West Ham. Rounding out match day 24. Hey guys, which one of these games look fun, fun for you? Which ones are you
Christian:To find fun.
Jerrell:Give me the bottom of the table matchup. It's Brits vs. Southampton.
Will:For the sickos.
Jerrell:Everything's at stake.
Christian:Yeah, definitely, definitely
Will:Christians
Christian:Track the Boys Vs. The Saints and then, fuck, I wasn't ready to suffer. What you guys doing Sunday at 11 30 in the morning?
Jerrell:I don't know. Maybe, hopefully not sick. Hopefully.
Christian:a while since we made it out to
Will:mean citizens, obviously.
Jerrell:Ugh.
Christian:Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. It's not that kind of pot
Will:bitisons. So yeah, we have a bad, we have the reverse fixture. It's going to be at the Emirates Arsenal, dealing with a couple of injuries, a couple of a couple of knocks across the team. Man City, they got a big win against Bruges today, even though they looked very vulnerable on the counter a couple of times against Bruges.
Jerrell:But man, city's down, referee advantage,
Will:we are unbiased subjective podcast. So big game especially for arslan as arslan looks to keep keep pace with liverpool see if the cherries can get give them a You know a little bit of help, leading into the the run up for the day.
Jerrell:I, I never said anything bad about the cherries.
Will:You really don't actually
Jerrell:Nope.
Will:You really don't at most you're just like looking a little funny in the light, but not lately.
Jerrell:Giant killers,
Will:So
Jerrell:that's what I called them.
Will:And then I think also the Brentford Spurs game should be fun to watch. Just see if Spurs can find a, they could find any type of motivation or any type of thing to try to help right their shift is going to be a tough game away at the G tech against 11th place Brentford.
Jerrell:They can wait a week longer, they'll be fine.
Will:You don't know that you literally don't. I don't, I don't think you have their best thoughts and not wishing the best for them, honestly.
Jerrell:Nah.
Will:You
Jerrell:What have they done for me lately?
Will:they've,
Christian:How do you not have a bee costume yet,
Will:bought you joy? How do you know he doesn't?
Jerrell:I don't. Nope. Nope.
Christian:would out of popped up on the pod video
Will:No,
Jerrell:a, I was like a beekeeper slash butterfly catcher for Halloween two years ago.
Christian:Not the same.
Jerrell:Hey, I know. I'm sorry.
Will:Anything else you guys are looking forward to this weekend? Joe's just I'm sick. Help.
Jerrell:please. Is Chelsea West Ham a get right game for Chelsea? So maybe, maybe not. Okay. One win in their last six. How far back does that go? Okay.
Will:West Ham continues to ride the vibe, yeah,
Christian:won one of their last five games sitting on the six. Won in their last five.
Will:it's six actually. I forgot I had a stat last week. Hold up. Shout out to
Jerrell:Still struggling. They were, they were second. They were second place at one point.
Will:So last week against Wolves they got their first win in six and then they lost again. So
Christian:Oh, yeah. Damn. And they lost to the Tractor Boys.
Will:seven is their track record. Not that much better than Tynehem, one in eleven. Still decently better, but
Jerrell:argue Tottenham is worse.
Will:But West Ham, West Ham over the weekend against Aston Villa. Villa came out strong against them for 15 minutes and then I'm, I think West Ham actually bossed the rest of that game. So I think that's good for them considering they were my catfish of the season the first half until I deleted their number. Yeah, match day 24 coming, coming to you this weekend.
Christian:To a weekend near you.
Jerrell:Saturday, Sunday, Monday night football.
Will:yeah, Monday is the Chelsea West Ham
Jerrell:Oh, okay.
Will:So yeah outside of that, as Christian said, follow us on X thefootballfellas at Gmail, Twitter. Thank you. See, I might have to delete it. We're on Instagram. Jerell's the website. Up yet.
Jerrell:No, there's no website.
Will:website for you guys until you subscribe to Christian's
Jerrell:No website in Ba Sing Se.
Will:embossing set. Next week, we'll do a review of these games. We'll celebrate Arsenal getting the win in the Emirates. And I will do the power rankings
Jerrell:Old. Okay.
Will:Wednesday, I'll let you guys do the two man.
Jerrell:We got it.
