Fútbol Fellas

To Quarterfinals We Go

Season 1 Episode 32
Will:

Record Ds motherfucker.

Jerrell:

Episode 32, match Day 28 review. talking about Champions League too. I know we're a Premier League podcast, but we also talk about

Will:

Wear a football podcast. Damnit.

Jerrell:

Ah, we're football fellas. Today's Thursday, March 13th, 2025. I'm Jarrell Will's here.

Will:

Hey.

Jerrell:

here, and. We got some shit to talk

Will:

Some shit to get into, if you will.

Jerrell:

A lot of it. Yeah. Talking about other league activities as well, since Will corrected me. We're not just a Premier League We are a football podcast. All right, let's, let's get into some stuff. It feels like it's been a while. We had Champions League, but we also did have Match Day 28 and games did happen over the weekend. Christian, will you guys wanna gimme a rundown of those? Nose goes or I can do it?

Christian:

Let's do it. Let's do it. Match Day 28 review. We had the tricky trees. That was, Ooh, tricky Trees Beating Man. City One Zero. We got Brighton beating

Will:

Why do you sound surprised though?

Jerrell:

time.

Christian:

feels so long ago. It just feels so long

Will:

Okay.

Christian:

That was a nice little refresher. Crystal Palace beat Attract Boys. One zero. Liverpool beat South Hampton. We got Villa beating Brentford. One zero Wolves in the ch wolves in the toffees tied one one Chelsea beat Lester City. One zero Spurs tied against the and arsenal tied against Manu. It's cooked. Boys. We are cooked.

Jerrell:

The league is cut.

Christian:

Newcastle will beat West Ham one zero. That seat, that's

Jerrell:

Brighton beat Fullham two one.

Christian:

That was the second one I said. Oh yeah.

Jerrell:

Yeah, I I didn't hear it while we were, while we were commenting on how surprised you were by the tricky trees.

Will:

He said, oh look, a candy.

Jerrell:

Yeah.

Will:

look, another candy.

Jerrell:

All right. Yeah, no big surprise. I think I was doubting Forest. I continued to doubt forest. I thought Man City was back on track. At least it was gonna be, I thought it was at least gonna be a draw. But yeah, shout out to Forrest Beating Man City but holding onto, I believe it's third, third in the standings.

Will:

And is it third or fourth? Yeah, but huge for them too.'cause they also, it creates a buffer between them. And city they have, there are four points. Clear city in Newcastle, both sitting at 47 points. Two points up on Chelsea. So this was coming into the weekend, maybe we underscored it just as we were dealing with realization of where our arsenal season was going. A huge game for Nottingham just to see if they were gonna hold onto a spot. There's still a lot of work to be done, 10 match days of course, but being, being able to be man city, man city who's been showing a little bit of a return to form at home. Huge result for them so they can get a little bit of security. Still some work to be done though.

Jerrell:

Work, work, work, work, work. Palace beating the tractor boys. It's, it's hasn't been looking good for

Will:

Speaking of cooked.

Jerrell:

but.

Will:

yeah.

Jerrell:

A lot of chances.

Will:

yeah, yeah, yeah. Both of these teams just really didn't want to win the game it felt is Ismail Asar was able to get, he had a nice little chip shot late. To get a win, but if Switch was able to create 15 goal scoring chances that had eight, eight on target, crystal Palace was also having struggles struggling to get anything going positive as well, but we're able to eke it out. The expected goal contribution from these two teams was almost five and we got one goal out of it. Type one oh drawer with draw. I think Oliver Glasner as well, looks like is gonna be. Re-upped his contract with Crystal Palace, who he was able to write the ship for them after a really, really slow start to the season for them. They're now sitting around mid table 10th, which is good.'cause earlier in the season we were looking at them, it was just like, oh man, that drop's looking real familiar. Great result for Crystal. It switched talent. It really just felt microcosm of what, how their season's gone. Where you saw the, the enterprising, you saw the ideas just aren't able to take advantage of those small slim margins as we always talk about. Huh.

Jerrell:

Yeah, definitely for sure.

Christian:

Yeah, it's tough. Tractor Boys had a few games out there that were really close calls. Shout out to the Eagles this game. I think they're nine. They've won nine of their last 11 games. So like you mentioned, we, in, in the beginning there was a point where we were questions like, oh, this might be a good relegation battle from Crystal Palace. But no, they, they, they stuck it out sitting mid-table. I think they're, they're definitely safe, attractive boys. On the other hand,

Jerrell:

I'd be cheering for them in the championship league.

Christian:

no,

Jerrell:

Okay.

Will:

That's fucking crazy. Christian, Christian,

Jerrell:

Die.

Will:

Christian waited for the bandwagon to slow down to a direct halt and then do dove off safely. Landed with two feet said safe. That's crazy. I need, I need someone to go ahead and listen through the episodes and all of Christian's goal and all his, my boys, and then just cap it with this. No, I won't be watching them.

Christian:

say bandwagon either.

Will:

Okay

Jerrell:

Shean

Will:

okay, but

Jerrell:

you, you get to choose.

Will:

whatever you'd like, Christian.

Christian:

Speaking of how, how's Luton Town doing for you? Jarrell?

Jerrell:

Oh, L Town is dead lasting championship league. They're about to go to League one.

Will:

That's wild.

Jerrell:

Yeah. No, it's, I, yeah. I'm actually surprised I kept up with it, but yeah, they are struggling.

Will:

I was expecting you to drop that off the top of your head. Damn. It really is real. Do you? Yeah. I see a fifa EAFC uh, manager idea there. Lu Lud in town from the third league. Work'em up.

Jerrell:

It, yeah. It's tough out there. The hatters are, are not hating.

Will:

Speaking of people breaking my heart, Southampton made me believe for a second. While I was checking results over the weekend, went up one oh before the half. And then Liverpool able to eek it out another most out of brace this time from the penalty spot both times. Yeah. Yeah. Saints, honestly, it's way fair given the run of play, but they did take a one oh lead. I was just like, and then as soon as I believed a little bit, yeah.

Christian:

bit.

Will:

They had, Hey, I,

Jerrell:

On the

Will:

we weren't expecting them to take any type of lead and then Liverpool just reminded us just Hey, that's not what this season script says. And we're able to eek it out. So now given arsenals results, they're now sitting 15 points clear with a game in hand. So right now, what's that magic number at? They need five, 16 points. 86 points is the magic number.

Jerrell:

give'em the trophy after next

Will:

Yeah, it's not over, so it's over. But the magic number's 86,

Christian:

other competitions?

Will:

Karabell Cup on Sunday, they're in the final.

Christian:

do. Man.'cause at this point they could just all go on vacation and they won the trophy.

Will:

That's not how that works. That's not, that's not what I said. 16 points and then they can go on vacation. Christian said, fuck you, go ahead.

Christian:

No, I think, I think Who? Who's gonna catch'em?

Jerrell:

Have they all left?

Christian:

list. Arsenal.

Will:

If they lo, if they go on vacation and in theory don't, don't play any more games, we can, we can.

Jerrell:

need a striker anymore. The left side scores all the goals.

Christian:

use, they just

Will:

Left back FC was crazy.

Christian:

folks.

Will:

It's almost there. We, I understand what you're saying, Christian, obviously, but

Christian:

It's

Will:

not, it's not, it's not cooked yet. It's not fully, it's not fully cooked. It's pretty, it's get, it's almost done though. So magic numbers, 86 points for them. They just need five wins in a draw from their last 10. So looks likely considering some other results that I we'll touch on shortly, but yeah. Yeah. Shout, shout to the saints.'cause the saints nine points on the season. They're, they're, they're well-cooked. They're well cooked. Sin scorched ed. Yeah.

Jerrell:

Oops. Brentford can't win at home again. It is, it is the reverse Uno card

Will:

Fucking Twilight zone ass team. Yeah.

Jerrell:

Yeah. They can now not win at home. So when they go on the road, I think they go on the

Will:

The fucking bizarro bees. Yeah,

Jerrell:

Yeah, they, they go on the road this week against Born. We'll see what happens

Will:

yeah, yeah. It's about to get scary for the chilies.

Jerrell:

Ollie Watkins,

Christian:

we.

Jerrell:

Getting his second half goal to put them

Will:

Scoring scoring on his former team previously had celebrated a goal against Brentford, so every time he gets a touch on the ball, it gets booed now. But yeah. Second half goal for Ali Watkins.

Jerrell:

Why fuck Brentford though?

Will:

Guess it stings.

Jerrell:

I guess so. The wolves in Everton end up tying, but regardless, it helps, it gives the wolves a little bit of padding from the bottom three. They now sit six points

Will:

Yes.

Jerrell:

So it's, they're looking safe. They're getting safe, but they're not, they're not outta the woods yet with 10 games remaining. So can happen. The wolves are a little up and down. They, they, they get a little wonky out there.

Will:

It's hard. It's hard week to week, but yeah, with Estor and Ipswich, but just sitting only six points clear. It's not fully out of the danger zone necessarily, but. Wolves definitely showing infor over the last couple months. That's put them ahead of those other two teams, so we'll see how it goes. ESER City losing to Chelsea over the weekend 61st minute goal from mark Ella. Was able to get the three points for Chelsea at Stanford Bridge. Cole Palmer. He's now seven games without a goal after missing a pen, but the ch the blues are now sitting in fourth right ahead of city in Newcastle. Say it louder, Christian into the mic. One more time. Hold up, hold up, hold up. Say it one more time.

Christian:

said more like warm Palmer,

Jerrell:

Palmer. All right. So running a fever.

Will:

The

Christian:

just let it, just

Will:

this, this man, this man's riding the UCL yesterday. That feeling of when you're in imminent danger and you surprise this man just.

Jerrell:

Oops. Chelsea sitting forth on the table right now. There were six last year, so they're, two spots up from where they were before, but still a pretty good se despite the middle. the campaign that looked super rocky and even up until recently Chelsea's still looking pretty strong.

Will:

Giving themselves a chance to qualify for UCO is about as much as you could have expected from Chelsea. They started really strong. I don't think any of us had them necessarily taking the league with a new coach. A lot of pieces to figure out, but this is definitely a good. A good season for them project-wise. And yeah, they're in a little bit of a rut. Cole Palmer not performing. No. Nico Jackson missing players and other players, my like and whatnot, not performing made to the level they expect, but with summer coming up where they're gonna be able to figure some things out.

Jerrell:

Yeah. Speaking of coming up, Newcastle's starting to sneak back up through the through the table,

Will:

ever since I said fuck Newcastle, they've been playing pretty decent, right? Yeah.

Christian:

So it's your fault. Oh yeah. They're tied. They're in six. Tied with man sitting with 47 points.

Jerrell:

Yeah, yeah. Two

Will:

Yeah. Car be final on Sunday.

Jerrell:

off Man city and New Castle for the rest of the season. So

Will:

Yeah. So

Jerrell:

say that anybody else won't be Arsenal, still,

Christian:

crazy.

Jerrell:

still gotta hold on to two.

Christian:

between second and eighth place.

Will:

that's what I'm saying. Yeah.

Jerrell:

Gotta keep fighting. There is no

Will:

I think, I think last week when you were like, so we're gonna chill, right? Stop. Christian, stop.

Jerrell:

Let put that out there and let them crash.

Will:

Yeah. But was it five point difference between third and seventh right now? So a lot can happen over the last week, six or a little six points. If you want to count Villa in there, who's sitting eighth?

Jerrell:

Yeah, this is Spurs. The cherries was an interesting game. I actually got to watch that one. Watching Boardman. Go ahead. I was just like, oh yeah. Classic Spurs just, losing to losing whenever they feel like it. And then they surprise me and they come back. A really resilient effort in the second half. I think they scored those the equalizer in the last 10 minutes of the game. If I recall. It's been a while. I was watching a lot of Champion Champions League, so, no, no. I typed Spurs in the, gave me

Will:

Like 76 and 81st or something like that, I believe. That they gave up?

Jerrell:

One second.

Christian:

Was the question.

Jerrell:

I'm trying to help. I can't find it. I won't pull it up. What was your question? Wal

Will:

Oh, no, I think the goals were, if I remember correctly, scored in like the 76 and 81st minute late. I will attempt to pull it up shortly, but yeah, it was, it was definitely a late, late comeback by Spurs able to.

Christian:

First scored in the 67th and 84th 84th

Will:

There it goes, my dyslexia. So yeah, able to get some late goals to save a result. All in all, maybe not a game. Spurs necessarily wants to draw going into it, especially at home, but showing the resilience to come back against the chair as a team that's been sitting around European spots a lot of the season. At the end of the day, I think it has to be like, almost like a moral victory for Spurs burn myth, a tough stretch over the last week or two. So they drop these points against Spurs, they lose the wolves, they lose to brighten. Looking like they're going from a team that was like flirting with a European spot. If they were to miss, they're definitely gonna be thinking about kind of eight points left on the board for sure.

Jerrell:

A really,

Will:

tough.

Jerrell:

draw for, for the cherries because when we acknowledged them, they were fifth, and then they, they've dropped two games since, and then the draw, so

Will:

I guess they sizzled out.

Jerrell:

I guess they did sizzle out and, and we cursed them.

Will:

We is wild.

Jerrell:

We, we all gave their flowers. The disappointing game, Manchester United Arsenal

Christian:

Oh.

Jerrell:

Bruno Fernandez's free kick, which I don't know why I had a feeling that that was going on when I saw them line up, but just like, fuck, why? So that happened with man United, with the lead going into halftime and Arsenal, finding a way to equalize David Raya really in huge. At the end of that game, at, at that point, towards the end, I was just like. Our's gonna fucking lose, aren't they?

Will:

Double save.

Jerrell:

hard to lose

Will:

Yeah. Let's just. Let's, doesn't make it through the rest of the season. Let's just,

Jerrell:

They're saving it for the Champions League apparently.

Will:

I guess we'll see.

Christian:

it hurts.

Will:

And then also bride and fullham result bride and able to get a two, one win after. Late penalty for Draw Pedro and I believe in like the 98th minute or something like that. Brighton able to break a nine game win list streak against Fullham. I think it expanded. I forgot the year. I, I should have put the year, but it's been, I think it's like 2017 was the last time they beat them. Good, good win for Bright and Brighton and team that's just kind lingering around European spots a lot. The Europe beating a Fullham team that for the most part over the last two months has been pretty solid. Week in, week out, except I know they had one blip a couple weeks ago where I was just like, just purchase the game. Forget it. But good win for bride and at home at the Amex for them.

Jerrell:

At the next. All righty, and that was Match day 28.

Will:

Yeah. So I guess end of the day we've alluded to it a lot.

Jerrell:

ago.

Will:

Relegation drop looks damn near defined. First place looks defined, but as we mentioned, there's a lot of wiggle room from second down to eighth, only a 10 point gap. It gets a little tighter in the middle there. A lot of football still a lot of meaningful football being played week in, week out. Excited for the runup. Excited for the runup for sure.

Jerrell:

There's always a theme looking to get,

Christian:

in second.

Jerrell:

yeah. Oh,

Will:

Yeah,

Jerrell:

back. So

Will:

yeah. He was able to come back a week ago, bit by bit, bit by bit. We also, this weekend, Tuesday, Wednesday, we had some champions lead dive through results and then we can hit the games.

Jerrell:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Will:

Cool.

Jerrell:

So Club, club, Bruge and Villa played Club Bruge was not able to score a single goal in these legs and they dropped 6.0 on aggregate. They also got red card in the second game, so any chance of a comeback was completely over. Dot man Advances over Lil Lil needed a little more. Dot get to quarterfinals and. We'll go over it, but yeah, Doman snuck their way back into that one to advance arsenal. PSV is more of a formality arsenal just advanced to quarters nine three on aggregate Madrid. Athletico Madrid was was a fun game to watch. Athletico scoring 27 seconds into the game goes all the way into Penn with three Madrid winning four, two and penalties. Fay nor and enter was. More or less, I don't know. I needed, we needed more from, from Fay Nord they lost four. One on aggregate, but the game itself was relatively close. Byron Munich beats lever Kein. Leverkusen unable to score in both legs, and Byron wins five oh on aggregate. Benfica did not get the memo to score a lot of goals this time around against Barcelona, dropping four, one on aggregate and three one in the second leg. And PSG beats Liverpool. After tying on aggregate one one PSU, advancing on four one and penalties. All right. Which one we wanna talk about first, guys?

Christian:

Not all at once.

Jerrell:

Yeah,

Christian:

as the resident Madrid I was never worried.

Jerrell:

sure.

Christian:

I know some, some, some casuals might be like, oh, it is a close game. Oh, we might lose. I was never

Jerrell:

That's crazy.

Christian:

to be known I was watching the pens completely cool, calm and collected as one does. yeah, that shit was crazy. I was watching it by pieces'cause work was working on Thursday. And the pieces I saw, I saw a lot of, all 11 players of lithium Madrid were pretty much parking the bus and they were able to squeeze out a few moments where they just fucking booked it. Shout out to Kaga, who had a fucking amazing just stopped in the second half. overall, the game, the game was pretty good. It was a really fun game to watch. It was a little who was gonna score here, who's gonna score there? Vinny ate a pen that in the 80th something minute I believe, and then went into penalties and. Holy crap. Leaving it to Rudiger as the final kick taker was crazy. Very controversial. There was a very controversial call as Julian EZ slipped on his pen.

Jerrell:

Yeah, they're so quick to be like, Nope, double touch.

Christian:

I wouldn't say they were very quick.

Jerrell:

It's pretty quick. It's pretty quick.

Christian:

to review it. And then, yeah, I was watching the, the, the recap afterwards. As soon as he saw it, Titi Barcelona player, he was just like, yeah, no, that's too touch. Obvious rules are rules. Meanwhile, Michael Richards was just like the fuck. So it was very close. Pretty hard to tell. I, I could've seen it gone either way. If it would've said, if they would've reversed the call, I probably would've been like,

Jerrell:

I.

Christian:

Not enough there. I would've probably been like, all right, fair game. Not enough there. But it, it, it's tough. It's tough to slip on that. And then Ru Rutger's final kick was very stressful because that was a soft ball. If it wasn't for Blas, caved the right leg, he would've blocked that.'cause he got to it. It was just a lucky bounce. But shout out to Madrid. It is always Al Madrid. know,

Will:

We're unbiased and we try to do our best to be professional in podcasts. So yeah. So this time for me, coupled with the Liverpool PSG, were I think my favorite ties of the round. So just a quick preface. I hate that, with what both teams were going, it a lot of the discourse surrounding it is going on with just obviously the penalty situation that was like. Massive implications as far as who's advancing in Europe. I thought it was a great game plan. Athletic Madrid was able to do get the quick goal 27 seconds in from Connor Gallagher. And then in pre-game Michael Richards and Titi, where they were both went over. Just kind of like, key moments from each game and how, how slim those margins were for this game and what they were looking to achieve. I thought Julian Alvarez had a fantastic game. With the chances and that LED Equal was able to ex execute their, their space. Royal Madrid, for the most part, they were in possession. And remind me almost a little bit I felt like at LED Equal, despite not having the ball, dictated the game more, they didn't get on the, under their chances. Royal Madrid. I really thought that was very surprised that Vinny Mista Pen great play by MB Mbae, he was able to get free after KA of Ingle is sub don. Get loose and just create some chaos that left Langley having to reach, grabbing, draw the pen. But yeah, the, obviously I'm gonna preface this with Christian, I know we always joke, but I, I don't even like to talk about necessarily reps just because I think my least favorite part in soccer is talking about like a call that was made that affected the game. Shirt like, blank shirts. Just seeing it is just like the whole. By letter of the law. It, that's the rule. I don't believe that's what the rule was in place to prevent necessarily. They've already talked about how they're going to, which not even 24 hours after 24 hours after the game ended. We're recording March 13th at six 30 Eastern time. They're talking about, oh yeah, we're gonna have to change the rule for a minute. They're talking about changing the rule necessarily. The touch is obviously supposed to stop a player from taking a dribble and then shooting. For me it's just like marginal and avar check on it, I just hate that the tie ended in a sense where it's just so much was going on that we're gonna put 120 minutes of football players on dead legs and just like these great moments of football is gonna be defined by minuscule contact if contact, like something that with three, four different angles. I think there was one that I was like, okay, I can see it more here. Yeah. Interesting.

Jerrell:

in trajectory and I just didn't see

Will:

It, it's like that it gets the lift going over it. But at the same time, for me it's just kind of like, it's, it's almost like Arsenal Byron last year where like technically there was a handball made because a player made contact was just like to what advantage he was kicking to the left. And the reason they even talked about, so if a goalie steps off his line and there's a retake there reason there's not a rule for a retake is'cause no player really tries to like. Intentionally take two touches when taking a pen necessarily. Tough break. I'd say for Atco I think just the annoying part is just kind of like, especially with the discourse.'cause for me, real Madrid they're obviously, like one of the greatest clubs in the world. And considering just like their. And considering just like even the dominance they've had in Europe, even when they're maybe not fielding maybe their best team at times, it's just yeah, there's almost like a magic to them. They're decently liked all things considered. It's not like the Steph Curry warriors or like the Miami Heat and this 2010s were like, everyone's hating them or whatnot. So seeing this happen on the tail end of just kind of like what's been almost like me passively watching, just like the Vinny Ballor. Situation when they're boycotting. When I was just kind of like, I think Bellingham might have been the best player on that team, or lately what's been going on with the whole ref scandal where like this, it's just annoying that I'm not saying I'm necessarily buying into it. But now I know like athletic supporters are gonna be like, see this is why they're doing the campaign painting in Real Madrid. So they can get calls like this. For me, I'm just kind of like, it's a tough situation, tough goal, great tie but it's just frustrating that I don't think VAR was necessary implemented to stop that specific instance. And it is just a huge decision to make on a var check. That's crazy. Also, in the stadiums, can we get like better explanations for things? As well, because I think that's also part of the confusion almost like when we went to the Orlando City game that playoff game a couple years ago where it's just like we have no idea what the fuck's going on. That just adds to the chaos. Tough, tough night, great ties the results of the result and hopefully, hopefully going forward there's more, some common sense because I know, I think I joke about like spiritually on side and whatever, but. That was, that was tough. That was, that was tough to watch. But great game. Great game.

Christian:

So a surprisingly good note. I really liked the refereeing in that game'cause there

Will:

Yeah.

Christian:

lot of.

Will:

I'm fucking with you.

Christian:

apart, apart from the penalties I really enjoyed there was that he was equally, guess, dismissive. He let the players play. There were some calls that you could see definitely be called like a soft fouls, but there was a lot of people on the ground that on both sides he would just like not ball he fucking playing. And I really appreciate that. I'm not a fan of a game that where like a referee is calling a foul every five seconds. Soccer can be a physical game, is a physical game and just let them fucking play.

Jerrell:

You are paid to play the game. What about Liverpool and P-S-G-P-S-G? Shocking Liverpool at Anfield.

Will:

looking like the most rounded version of PSG I've seen in 10 years.

Christian:

Is fucking nasty.

Will:

Vinia has been fantastic for them. Bels found all the goals to start the new year for them. He's looked dominant Barolo on the other side. And there's just a lot of freedom around everything that they're doing. A lot of the time, obviously when you have a talent like a Mi mbae, your natural instinct almost is to just funnel it through there.'cause you know you're gonna get like moments of greatness for them. But I think just like maybe more sustainable in how they're playing. I don't think anyone had them. Beating Liverpool, especially not at Anfield, especially considering how last game went where they dominated so thoroughly at home. It looked like they had their chance to win. And a lot of the times you see a team just roll over and get, folded, they're able to get a goal. Allison fantastic. It just took a almost a glance off of he hit the ground and Dan belly over, able to hop over a defender or two and just kind of like. Finish up a play well and then show being able to, show the stones on the road to go to penalties and win. So convincingly, PSG, I think is the scariest PSG team I've seen in a while. Not just obviously from obviously they don't have a talent as great as in bapi, but just like top to bottom from their back line. Donna Rua was amazing the way he was dominating the box, just punching everything away. He dove on the ground and was able to punch away. Cross earlier, like later in the second half. I thought PSG well, deserved win against Liverpool, who I think I sat on POD last week or two weeks ago, just like probably the best team in Europe. Most consistent team for sure in Europe over the year. PSG shaken and demons and able to get a result that I, I did not have on my cards.

Christian:

Can't win everything. They can't win everything.

Jerrell:

Yeah. Crashing out of everything except for car about the Premier League.

Will:

They, they started losing as soon as someone mentioned quadruple, and then they lost that first one. And it just shows how hard it is to win trophies. Yeah. I don't even think it was anything bad. Nuno Mendez. I also wanted to shout him out. Everyone's oh, Sal fell asleep. I think Nuno Mendez just did a great job just marking him and staying with him. And as a team they did great things, but Nuno Mendez has left back. That was, that was really fun to watch as well. Sala a lot of the time looking to defer to other places. And also Darwin Nunez the ultimate fucking wild card. I never know if that man's gonna be like amazing magisterial or if he's gonna have a tough game. But seeing him miss his pounds, he extra time, he missed some shots as well, I think. I feel like his time at Anfield is wrapping up all things considered. I feel like they might try to sell him. I think it might be good for him to get a change of pace just because for what he was bought for and what they expected him to do. I just too inconsistent and you see it throughout almost. So I, I don't know. Tough but great, great tie. This was my favorite tie before getting to watch the fucking Madrid Derby, where it's just kind of like two tactical teams. It's who's gonna bend first?

Christian:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

I don't know if there's a whole lot to talk about with Club Bruja National,'cause that,

Will:

Oh no. We're spending five minutes on this one the way we just did about rail Madrid. Fuck that. Go ahead Christian. Give us, give us everything.

Jerrell:

I was gonna give you the floor for Barcelona. I was giving you five minutes for Barcelona,

Will:

I love it. I love it. It was, it. I only had two, so

Jerrell:

Oh, okay. But there, there wasn't a lot that happened here, like Club Brew, got the red card super early in the game and

Will:

the wind out of their sails. Yeah. Yeah. Which is tough.'cause I think what, 80 minutes through the first like one. Oh. And then they kind of like imploded a little bit penalty here and then another goal given up. But that red card, it was like, what, 16 minutes in or something? It was just kind of like, whoa. It was, it was a good run. It was a good run. So villa threw as well. Yeah, I, I don't have much to add on that. You're right.

Jerrell:

Do Doman and Lil was a little interesting too. Lil took took a one one oh lead early in the game and they held onto it for a

Will:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

like a. Really silly penalty to allow doman to tie in the game. And then actually beer. I don't know if you guys saw the goal, but he just kind of like, a touch, had like literally a, a guy in front of him was just like, yeah, all right, I'm just gonna shoot from

Will:

Just gonna whip this one around him. Yeah. Yeah. He was like, this is actually to my advantage. The goalkeeper can't see the ball,

Jerrell:

and it puts Dotan up two one and then puts it up 3.2 on aggregate and just closes it out. It all kind of like stemmed from the penalty that Lil gave away and just gave Dotan that that momentum

Will:

Y Yeah. Once. Once Doman was able to find the equalizer, you, could it say not? Not, obviously. Not to the extent of group, but it really felt like just. Fuck, like you could see it on the players and whatnot. So when then, then the, next goal came in shortly after. It was just kind of like, it was a good run, but I don't, they didn't really even thread too much later in the game, unfortunately. But a great run for them, a team that was about 30 minutes away from making quarters.

Jerrell:

Arsenal and PSV, like I said earlier, is more of a formality. The nine three aggregate,

Will:

check out that Z Chanko banger. Check out that Z Chanko banger and check out PSV celebrating in the Emirates to like down nine, two, and the Tide. Just having a great time. That's what fandom should be. We're just happy to be here. We're having a good time. We're gonna support our guys down seven goals. So

Jerrell:

For sure. You gotta walk away and be like, at least we had a.

Will:

what was that, Christian?

Christian:

They knew what it was when going into it.

Will:

Hey, sometimes you're playing with House of Money, bro. And whatever happens, happens, that's gonna be me and Pit.

Jerrell:

Had a lot to do in this game and, and inter made sure they didn't really get started. That was quite simple for inter just cruise through,

Will:

A team. We're not talking a lot about just given some of their matchups and getting flossed in the UCL format and also being a little prem focused thing. But their high key like scary like they're.

Jerrell:

goal. They've allowed intent games, I believe.

Will:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're, they're, they're looking like front runners. I think we mentioned it when we were doing our

Jerrell:

that.

Will:

Yeah, we were saying when we were doing our previews that they're a team that hey but them being able to get through and could thing and a tie coming up. We're gonna get into it, but Byron Munich, lever cin, NS 2 0 5 0 1 aggregate lever. Cuson. Couldn't find anything, any more magic Munich straight through Kane and Davies scoring at the Allianz, I believe. And. Going into the next round Byron Munich returned to form, or are we expecting more of what we saw against Celtic and threw out a lot of their qualifiers?

Jerrell:

I think they're, that, that they're they're gear up. Barry Munich has taken this tournament. Harry Kane wants a trophy. Damn it.

Will:

The

Jerrell:

I think he, he's, he's,

Will:

League is looking good for them. So at worst.

Jerrell:

to get one in

Will:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he's not that it's crazy'cause hurricanes like such a complete striker that's, it's so loud that. Spurs just cursed him. And then England that like they got so close or whatnot. Yeah, I'll probably be watching the game. That o clinch for Byron. I'm not like, oh, like a huge bunes legal watcher or anything like that. But I think that's just an important one.'cause honestly, he's probably top five striker of the generation without just with bad marketing is what I'd say playing for Spurs. Shout shall Byron and that tie coming up, I know we're gonna get into it in a little while. That's my tie of the round.

Jerrell:

endorsement,

Will:

yeah, yeah. Ben FICA Barcelona and one three in Bara it really felt after the first leg on the road, they get the red. Able to win one home behind Nia Finio, who if you told me could be in a belong door, even conversation after last summer I think you're smoking crack shout flick. Being able to get the best out his polices, and it's like a very ballsy way to play. I think I spoke to you guys about how it's I, I don't know how this is gonna work. I just feel like it's just like a really, like high risk, high reward type of style to play. But this is probably like the most controlled I felt or most confident I felt about Barcelona. Since what, 17, 18? I know we had messy to wash over, but just what he's being able to get out of these players just and despite like little accident injuries and whatnot.

Jerrell:

Is

Will:

I, so I, earlier in the season, I'd say he's 17, we gotta chill. But he's, he's not from this planet. Like I'm, I'm fully off of the, but he's. His goal was discussing his assist. Anytime he's on his right foot, you expect a TLA or you expect something, I'm sorry, you expect either a cross coming across or even when he gets on the inside of his left foot, you expect a tla. That pretty much functions the same way as the Ru winger's regular cross, and it's consistent how, how he's able to get the ball to the spot on the back post for his teammates to get there, the chances he creates. The maturity shows, you can have three guys that had it in front of him and he's able to dribble through. It's scary. And he's 17 and it's not he's

Jerrell:

this summer.

Will:

18 in July. And it's not like he's like brazing fast. People with like pace or anything like that. It's just like control and understanding of the game and it's fucking crazy. It's like I, I, I'll, I'll Beit like next to other people I haven't watched the most football I've been watching for a little more 10, 10, 11 years, 12 years, whatever. But it's 17 years old and he does like the decision making in traffic in these big moments. The euros last year that like you don't expect also shouts out. Nia as I mentioned, the, it's not just the goals he scores or the sissy caused, but the presses, the pressing that he does the speed all throughout the season, all throughout every game, no matter what fixture, just really showing that he deserves that. Captain's armband. Just back and forth. I haven't seen anyone press at Barcelona, like from a forward spot. Say what you will about Anton Grisman, he's always done like the dirty work that doesn't get shown often. He makes it runs and whatnot, but Rafini has so much more speed, almost maybe not as technically sound, but just. What he's able to do. And then Lewandowski it is just, it's, it's honestly a joy to watch Ben fca, obviously not a team, you expect to win the Champions League, but I've seen us struggle against him over the last couple seasons, earlier Tides or whatnot. So seeing them get the one oh win off red and then being able to go into this tie and it was just calm throughout, it's just, it says a lot about the way they're playing. Just wanted to shout out honestly, Lam, he's a fucking freak. Shout out to him. Shout out to his parents.

Christian:

When did he get to la?

Will:

There's pictures of him, like as a ball boy with Sergio Ram, like being like the kid that walks up with Sergio Rames, like way back. So I had, I'd have to check the exact age he came in, but like he's just been around bars still a lot of his life and it's just say, say what you will about Laia, but it's just like the way he fucking plays and the decision making he makes. As like a, a, a child with all those adults in the fucking room and like how the team almost like is already looking to him to make something and the the moments to call him, like not to shout like a specific result, but like even the goal he scored in the super Copa against Madrid where last year we gave up a goal and then you guys scored a, a second goal real quick. We gave up a goal and he had the most calm finish, slotted past, like probably what? The be maybe the best goalkeeper in the world in Kurtis where he didn't give him a chance with it, just with his patients, his such, his presence. It's just, it doesn't make sense. It's like a FIFA character. It doesn't make sense. So

Jerrell:

Champions League will continue in April. We'll have Arsenal v. Madrid. We know who Christian's going for. PSGV,

Will:

Arseno

Jerrell:

v Doman, and Byron v. Inner Byron's gonna be really interesting.

Will:

you, yeah.

Christian:

the one I'm, I'm looking forward to outside of the Madrid one.

Will:

You mean the Arsenal one? This is a Premier League podcast,

Jerrell:

you heard him.

Will:

Yeah, so p yeah, we can do like a, we'll do a picks like maybe in two weeks time, like after our international break. We'll get a little bit deeper into that since we've gone a little log today.

Jerrell:

All right.

Christian:

then if it's Madrid, Barcelona, in the final will and I are gonna sit down and watch that

Will:

That shit's not. Oh, which one? I'm, I'm over here thinking, I was like, there's still things to do and then there's still things to do. Christian, you can't, and obviously I, I don't think I'd be able to talk to anyone, honestly. I'd just be stressed in watching it at Home Lake.

Christian:

Can be stressed together.

Will:

I don't think we can Matt Fate 29 preview y. No, we've done it a couple of times.

Jerrell:

was some news this past week for Men United's best efforts This season, they get rewarded with the new stadium. And old Trafford is going away. I think there's a hundred years of history at Old Trafford and now they're getting into a circus top. I don't know if you guys have seen the renders,

Will:

Hmm.

Jerrell:

it looks like a fucking circus.

Will:

I've been focused more on all the cuts they've been doing to like their staff and the redundancies they've been pointing out in mass over the last couple years. And I feel like announcing a, a full new stadium, not even just a renovation, is probably important taste right now. But hey, I'm not a business decision and I don't have supporters that I have to answer to who obviously hate the glasner and obviously honestly hate IIOS at this point. Good on them I guess. But we'll see how that goes.

Jerrell:

And a quick rumor too, Moala is open to moving to Barcelona. Will deal. How do, obviously you have to like it, right?

Will:

That shit's not happening. That man, that man's just raising the price. He was just like, oh, I'd go there. But we just signed Ingo Martinez to a one year extension today, and I think it's the first time in three, four years that someone didn't talk to me about fucking lovers. Or say we couldn't, sign someone or anything like that. We're not bringing most solid to Barcelona unless that man's playing for a deep discount either on ti goes and he, he, he comes in. But even then, it's just if I got Yamal on right wing, I don't, I think money can go somewhere else, hey, hey. But no, that he's just driving the price up

Jerrell:

for sure. All right. Who wants to give the preview for our eight games for Match Day 29, because Liverpool Villa have already played back in February,

Will:

think I did a preview or review.

Jerrell:

and Palace are scheduled for April 16th. So we have eight games.

Will:

All right, match. Day 29, we have Everton versus Westham. Will my catfish come through? Probably not. IP switch versus Nottingham Forest. Freaky Forest looks to keep their UCL spot Ipswich set. Trying to show that there they, there is a wagon to band onto Manchester City versus Brighton. At the et the hud Southampton Saints versus wolves. If they're gonna do any, anything this season. The saints versus is their last guess bird myth. Brentford showing up bees on bees on the road road. Do they get a win?

Jerrell:

Yeah, probably.

Will:

Crazy Arsenal versus Chelsea coming up this weekend, full home versus Spurs. And then we have Chester City versus Manchester United.

Jerrell:

Listen, Chelsea's struggling. Chelsea's struggling to score. Arsenal struggling to

Will:

We.

Jerrell:

gonna be a zero zero

Will:

We didn't talk about it outside of Raheem Sterling looking like he was trying to break Johan and Bacca Yoko's leg late in the 92nd minute for no reason. He did have two assists. It looks like he's fighting for of playing in time,

Jerrell:

the match.

Will:

of the match, but also that challenge that we didn't talk about was fucking reckless. It looked like he was about to break someone's leg. So if he were to ever turn up for a game though, this would be the one right, you sent me away.

Jerrell:

Yeah.

Will:

know, you sent me away on the season. I'm not part of your team, haven't done much, but he's gonna get his goal this week.

Jerrell:

I want him to get a goal. I want him to

Will:

It is gonna happen. He probably won't, but, so someone has to score. It's at the Emirate, so go arsenal. We're gonna, we're gonna get back on track.

Jerrell:

Not necessarily so,

Will:

to believe.

Jerrell:

yeah. Southampton and Wolves. Southampton wants to, know. I don't know.

Will:

Give anyone else in the race. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty much.

Jerrell:

Maybe take three points off wolves, make up sweat a little bit more. Unlikely. We'll see. They got the lead against Liverpool one. Oh, how long did that lead last? The, the whole first half? Or do we know?

Will:

I have to look up the, the stats. Honestly, it wasn't long enough. I thought that was Christian, honestly, but I'll look.

Christian:

About 18 minutes

Jerrell:

18 minutes lead. Okay,

Christian:

I confusing my stats? I might be confusing

Jerrell:

we'll go with

Will:

Stat guy's gone Stat, crazy.

Jerrell:

Oh no. Oh, I got pass it off to the stat intern. Now

Will:

The staggering. I don't know. Not, not good. Not good. Any other fixtures? We're looking forward to this week.

Jerrell:

Fulham spurs I don't know. Spurs are funny, but it should,

Will:

Christian. Christian, you got you. You believe an N switch One more time.

Christian:

46

Jerrell:

you, you've heard it,

Christian:

that they scored. Of course, bro, I always

Jerrell:

you've heard. You heard Christian, he said once single gold championship is over,

Christian:

They're not in the championship yet,

Will:

They're in the championship of our hearts.

Christian:

the tractors are

Jerrell:

is that good?

Christian:

over those trees, bro.

Will:

I walk those lines. It's a home game. We got that for them. So we'll see how it goes, but.

Jerrell:

I Ed Sharon will be in attendance, so

Will:

you heard that? Did you hear it from Ed himself?

Jerrell:

Nah.

Will:

he's, if you're a player in that locker room, do you get more, do you get more, do you play harder if Ed Sheeran shows up?

Jerrell:

Yeah.'cause he walks in the locker room playing shape of you and they get really motivated.

Will:

like that fucked me up. I feel like I, I can't, I feel like I can't do this.

Christian:

What's, what's the toughest edge hearing song that you can get hyped to?

Will:

Yo. The song that they for desolation of Smog, that's my shit, bro.

Jerrell:

where he, the one where he had a cameo in Game of Thrones.

Will:

No, that shit was trash. The Desolation of Smoke song, bro. That was my shit. That and a team.'cause if you play that, a team with Travis Scott's a team. Back to back, bro. Bangers on Bangers, bro. Catch my DJ Mix on our Patreon.

Jerrell:

Nice.

Will:

Thanks bro.

Jerrell:

Didn't know we had that.

Will:

The Patreon or my DJ mix.

Jerrell:

Yes.

Will:

Christian's nipples are all over our OnlyFans, which is different from Patreon. You're right. So

Christian:

It's just cold.

Will:

more like warm Palmer, he said. All right, close us out. We gotta get the fuck outta here.

Jerrell:

We go, oh I think it falls to you will, but,

Will:

Oh fuck. Okay, cool. I'll double duty. I don't give a fuck. All right. We didn't plug the socials, so we are on Instagram at the Football Fellows. You can catch us on Twitter. team.

Will:

I'll make time for it. I'm I'll probably be very drunk.

Jerrell:

The stadium is right on the river.

Will:

I hope I don't fall in it. Next week we're gonna go over match a 29 results. We'll also touch on the karabell final on Sunday. That's gonna be played that we did not talk about. We'll also do a way too early match day 30.

Jerrell:

fuck Newcastle.

Will:

They've been winning since, right? It's been working out for someone a way too early match day 30 preview. That's gonna be played April 1st, but we're gonna do that next week considering it's international break baby, international break for them and an international break for we, I also wanna say, shout out to Rell. Will:

on our blue sky, actually. Anything else you guys wanna say to the tens and hundreds of fans at home?

Jerrell:

Of course Orlando pride's banner raising ceremony is tomorrow there will

Will:

That's crazy.

Jerrell:

and the NWSL banner.

Will:

I prefer NWS all over MLS plugs, honestly. Christian, you got anything?

Christian:

No, I'm good over here. We're gonna be in Pittsburgh. It's gonna be a fun time and for. Some fucking reason Steelers resigned. Mason Rudolph to a two year contract earlier

Will:

I was gonna flame you on that later. Yeah.

Christian:

Yeah, completely unrelated to the podcast, but Jesus

Will:

It's football of sorts.

Jerrell:

Hey, who's the quarterback? Who's the, who's QB one

Will:

May Mason Rudolph,

Christian:

Rudolph, bro.

Will:

we Christian's gone five years into the future to see that Mason Rudolph is still his QB one. It's great. That being said

Jerrell:

Yay, your day to Pittsburgh.

Will:

the odds ever be in your favor this weekend, and we will see you next week.

Jerrell:

All right. Peace out.
