Newcastle Got a Trophy

Season 1 Episode 33
Will:

It's the podcast, Joe. No, you're doing the drill.

Jerrell:

episode 33. Newcastle gets a trophy in this episode. We don't give it to them, they earned it all

Will:

No, they took it from me.

Jerrell:

you, ever since you fucking cursed the, ever since you said you hate them,

Will:

They've been on the best form of their season. Yeah.

Jerrell:

fuck that will guy. We're about to show him what, what

Will:

We're gonna make history in spite of him. Yeah, it's fucking wild.

Jerrell:

This is Football Fellows. Today is Thursday, March 20th, 2025. I'm Jarrell and I'm joined with Will

Will:

Hey.

Jerrell:

couldn't make it today, but he is here in our hearts. We need to get back on the social media stuff and plugging our stuff, but we have Instagram, Twitter, blue sky at the football fellas. Blue Sky's a little bit wonky. So it's at the football fellas Blue Sky social. Okay. I'll get used to that. And we have match day 29 review and will, get started.

Will:

also wanted to throw out, throw out real quick, so Blue Sky there's a podcast I listen to and they're trying to get blues, blue skies, like tweets to be called skeets and

Jerrell:

boy.

Will:

I don't know, I don't know. Okay. Match day 29 review. So last weekend we only had eight games.

Jerrell:

One at a time or do you want to do it all at the same time?

Will:

Oh we'll go through and then we'll just vibe through it the way we usually do. Yeah.

Jerrell:

perfect.

Will:

so to start off the week the match week, we had Everton versus Westham, the David Mo Darby ending in a 1 1 1 1 draw IP switch. Nottingham Forest ends two four in favor of Nottingham as they secure their move, boost their top four chances with another win. Manchester City versus Brighton ends in a two two draw at that udd Southampton versus wolves, and then ends in a one two win for the wolves. Mout Brentford ends one two in favor of the bees arsenal with another clutch corner and a great header from Marino. End Wins one oh at the Emirates Fullham versus Spurs Ends two oh at Craven cottage and our last match of the week. Chester City loses to Manchester United at home. Zero to three.

Jerrell:

Oh boy.

Will:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

Tough for, tough for the foxes. Look at Everton. Expect a goal won and they got their one.

Will:

damn right. Last minute. Header scored by Jake O'Brien. Keeping them undefeated in the nine games since he's taken over. Huge result for Everton.

Jerrell:

Remember when Everton couldn't

Will:

Yeah. Yeah. I was just like, we had a lot of talk about Molly Bushel and her, her mo, her TOFFEE's going, going bad, but. And they were looking like they'd end up getting relegated. But look at them now. Look at them now.

Jerrell:

Nine UN nine. Nine Unbeaten is great for Everton, but if you look at the forum, I, believe the past four out, yeah, past four have been draws.

Will:

Hey, fuck it. A point's a point, bro.

Jerrell:

points a

Will:

Hey, for where I, if I, if I was worried about relegation earlier in this season, I'm just like, just keep, keep, keep giving me something. Yeah.

Jerrell:

Those little

Will:

S

Jerrell:

One at a

Will:

for sure. And then Westham continuing to play games with my mind about who I thought they'd be. They were supposed to be my mudding him. It's,

Jerrell:

place now tied with Everton and losing on gold Differential.

Will:

yeah, yeah, yeah. So

Jerrell:

16th

Will:

I,

Jerrell:

I don't think I.

Will:

I was just like, my sickness is still holding taking, taking hold of me. He said six. I was like, yeah. Yeah. That makes sense. Following that Ipswich. Christian's not here this week because he's still falling off of that bandwagon. He was on so strong

Jerrell:

Yeah, he Is. There's a rope hanging off the back of that tractor and he's just holding on.

Will:

just all scarred up. Yeah. Nottingham Forest one's four, two. Pretty comprehensive one. Anthony Langa, he hits a brace. He had goals in the 37th and 41st. A minute of this one, four, scored three in the first half. And this game, despite the score line, wasn't, was pretty much decided early on. But nine, four sitting third, which is crazy. So

Jerrell:

For the the freaky Forest fans out there. Yeah. Sitting third for Nottingham Forest at 54 points.

Will:

a nice little buffer between them too, right?

Jerrell:

are you a be Does Forest hold onto to four? Yeah. They have a five point lead on Chelsea who's at 49 points. And how comfortable are you with Nottingham Forest holding onto the top four?

Will:

They're only playing league. I'm not, I haven't, I haven't looked at their schedule necessarily. But you have a five point buffer with nine points left, with nine games left. It's a little scary once you drop a little forth.'cause it's Chelsea City, Newcastle, Brighton, all sitting within two points of that four spot. But they have a, they have a five point buffer, all things considered. We keep on waiting for the sky to fall fall off of for them and they're still holding strong. And third. You feel good. You know me, I'm cautiously optimistic with a lot of things. You don't, you wanna stay, even Stevens, I say a lot, but you gotta feel good with your form home in a way. A lot of the season also playing a lot of tough games. They had the city game like a week or two ago. So nine, four freaky four cautiously optimistic. It's looking nice right now for them, I'd say. I'd give it a, I'd give it a solid seven. Considering performance two,

Jerrell:

how many points do you think they need

Will:

how many points did they, I I, if they can maintain that buffer, I'll, I'll, I'll talk to you in three, three games. I'll tell you how, how, how, how feet. Good. I feel about we'll do that. The power ranking thing, I was looking at the power rankings. I was like, I have these motherfuckers finishing 18th, like I was so wrong on nut forest. So I think you and Christian had him a couple spots ahead.

Jerrell:

I have'em relegated.

Will:

Yeah. Yeah. We, they were all, we all had them around like 18, 17, 16, but I had them fucking in the dumps. So it's been, I'm finishing top three completely wrong. I don't know, Bob, but fuck it. Thank you for listening to this podcast that no one once again asked for. So

Jerrell:

Another non power six club trying to make it to the European

Will:

just try to fill the, try to fill the void.

Jerrell:

Villa. And does Newcastle sit as a power six?

Will:

No, no, no,

Jerrell:

outside

Will:

Yeah, they're outside. They're not a traditional power.

Jerrell:

Gotcha. Okay. So every year we get, we get one non-traditional making it, and hopefully this year it'll be not camp Forests. We'll see if I jinx that. God, I hope I don't. Yeah. Manchester City and Brighton drawing Manchester, just, they're sitting in fifth, at some point the dominance has to, has to end. They, they're not competing for any trophies anymore, I don't think. I. I think all they have left is these eight games to finish out their premier League campaign.

Will:

Yeah. Yeah. Stats 40 Goals allowed is the most allowed by man Cityside and was it under Pep Olo since he took over. And there's nine games to go. I feel like that tells you all you need to know about this man city team this season. Right now their goal has to make it, it has to be obviously qualifying for Champions League. But it's not a short shot and especially coming into the season where, through Arsenal lens or the league's lens, it's just like they're the hill to climb. It's been a very wonky season for them pretty much past October I'd say. Man, city tying with Brighton at that, the odd in a game that was very up and down. There's a own goal. Holland had an early pen but they're just looking shaky in the back of the team. You're used to controlling throughout. So we'll see. We'll see how it goes because Chelsea's a point ahead of them. They haven't had the most firepower with no cold Palmer, no Nico Jackson, and other, pieces just not firing off. So this is the part of the, of the, the table that really intrigues me the rest of the season with our.

Jerrell:

For

Will:

The top, top spot Liverpool's, just been bossing it all season. And then our drop zone looks like pretty well defined. This is the intrigue for me. Rest of the year.

Jerrell:

Yeah, man. City. Also splitting points with Brighton, who is one of those teams that are also trying to compete for a Champions league spot. Not,

Will:

Two points out. Yeah.

Jerrell:

Not that great when you know you're trying to hold onto your spot, but also conceding points to guys who are really close to you. One point Brighton, one point behind Man City Newcastle, who we'll get to has been pretty resurgent, also fighting for a fourth spot. You can go all the way down to, you can go all the way down to, I would even argue down to Brentford and say that all those teams can can sneak in for, for the fourth

Will:

Yeah, I, I like how you snuck the bees in, but yeah, I can see it. I can see it. The realm of possibility.

Jerrell:

I was like, 41 is, it is right there. It's still with, it's, it's within eight

Will:

Brighton with a huge game coming up on the second against Villa Villa's gonna be their next fixture villa sitting two points back of Brighton right now at ninth. So

Jerrell:

Yeah. This is, this is where it gets fun. Maybe not the top of the table, but right here. This is, this is where it

Will:

everything means something to me. Yeah. So, outside of that wolves, they were able to survive the Tus Southampton. They get another three points. There are nine points clear of Ipswich, looking pretty safe from the drop. Once again it looks like the drop is defined out outside of, any weird run of results, but nine points clear with nine points left to go. You figure, I don't know if Ipswich gets another nine points on the season could win for wolves. Another tough result for Southampton. Southampton, I really feel like the few we're running on fumes after, like they had a couple games early in the season when they were up like two, three goals and. Blew some leads at home and whatnot. So Southampton tough, tough, tough run for the season. But more of the same kind of within expectations considering the trajectory of both teams over the last couple months.

Jerrell:

So on the flip side of the table, do you feel like the wolves are. Pretty safe at their spot with, with nine points clear of, of Ipswich with nine

Will:

Yeah, I, like I said, I don't know if between, CEER hasn't scored at home and if Switch they've, they've just been, they just haven't found a way to like score goals despite them trying to play more Progressive. So I, I don't know. Does SWI score even win nine more points? Rest of the season? I'm not sure. So I'd feel pretty g.

Jerrell:

looking at their, without looking at their fixtures. I, I, I see that being pretty hard. They play Bourmouth next

Will:

I feel better about wolves staying up than Nottingham staying in third, just because wolves collapse would have to be on the back of one of Esther Ipswich getting hot. Meanwhile, top of the table, I'm just kind of like, Hey, no, they're playing great. But there's a couple teams where I was like, Hey, all you need is one little one positive patch of form to really flip your season.

Jerrell:

Yeah. Ipswich having to play Bournemouth next in Lester City. Having to play man city, tall, tall orders for those teams. Just trying to stay in this.

Will:

Speaking of Burn. Yeah. Jarrell, you called your shot last week. I was listening to last week's pod. Finally, I'm finally feeling better after feeling like death for two weeks. And yeah, you, I asked you Jarrell does, Brentford went away and you're like, for sure. And

Jerrell:

Yeah,

Will:

went away. Go figure here. So they give up a own goal early on against Burn myth, and then they get two goals throughout the rest of the game to win it comfortably on the road. Yeah, look at the bees burn myths continue like a tough slide of form over the last couple months, honestly. But Brentford still hovering around that 10th, 11th space and within the realm where it's just Hey, eight points, nine games, weird things have happened where it's like, Hey, you have a shout for some type of European qualification if the cards break white right? And yeah. Yeah,

Jerrell:

Yeah, and, and Brent's what is it? Jekyll and Hyde mentality this

Will:

yeah.

Jerrell:

at the start they could win at home but they couldn't win away, and then they flip the script and it's the same problem, literally gonna finish the season. Like if, if you could finish eight and eight like in the NFL, that's B brentford.

Will:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

It's, it's interesting. And I did, I did include them in that race for the fourth spot, but they're, they're really just so fringe just. Because it really comes down to where they're playing.

Will:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

if every game was on the road, they, they would probably be up there at

Will:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

they're not doing that,

Will:

What,

Jerrell:

on the back

Will:

Yeah. Contrasted with their run of the season, like for, I feel like in 2024 was like, they're playing at home. You're fucked. Yeah. I think Thomas Frank has been doing a great job with the team. Getting the most out out of them, but I really feel like they're, the consistency is maddening between home in a way, but I don't know if there's been like a game or anything like that where I feel like it was like necessarily like a bad result that I can specifically point at. I feel like there's a couple where I'm like, oh Fullham had a bad game here. Brighton and Crystal Palace had a couple games that looked like, felt like admirations, where they just blew things. But I feel like Brentford, despite the inconsistency, is relatively, it's balancing out long run for them. Excited to see where they go going forward.'cause I think Thomas Frank is a fantastic coach

Jerrell:

Yeah, B Brentford is a very, like all or nothing team

Will:

yeah.

Jerrell:

They have 12 wins. 12 losses, but only five draws.

Will:

Yeah. With no middle grounds here. Yeah.

Jerrell:

yeah, they're, they're definitely out there to to

Will:

No half measures. Yeah.

Jerrell:

Yeah. Either if it blows up in their face or not.

Will:

Fuck it.

Jerrell:

They're, they're tied with a lot of teams for five draws. Southampton being the one with the least amount, but, we know how that's going.

Will:

Sorry. To our Saints fans listening. Yeah.

Jerrell:

Yeah. Arsenal and Chelsea Marino continues to be arsenal's, best striker this campaign.

Will:

know, Hey, whatever it takes. Yeah. The header was insane. It was a great service, but he like headed it. It was like a back flick off the back of his head that beat Robert Sanchez. Robert Sanchez had a tough gaming goal. I'd say there's a couple mistakes he made that arsenal couldn't capitalize lies on. But what are your thoughts on the game?'cause despite it being so close, I never felt. I didn't wanna say, I'm like, I felt secure. Like it was like a classic response. But it felt, once we got the goal, we were only threatening, I think, Cella. That was the scariest moment. He took a shot at Raya, it slipped between his legs a little bit and just took a weird bounce out for a corner.

Jerrell:

Yeah, so Arsenal is just, want get their goal and then relax on it. I, they understand that. opportunities aren't gonna come very often, and you're playing against a significantly weaker Chelsea team who is missing a little bit of teeth in this match. No. Cole Palmer. No. Nico, not Nico Jackson. Nico Jackson,

Will:

Nico Jackson. Yeah. Yeah. You got it. You nailed it.

Jerrell:

Yeah. Without those pieces to threaten a whole lot a response, I think Arsenal we're just comfortable just taking the one goal lead. You obviously want more but. They don't got a lot to go with and they don't have a, they, they take the opportunities when they

Will:

Yeah, and the one thing I will say about Arsenal is yeah, they've had chance they've been struggling with, finishing chances. I'd say their goal creation's decent. And they might be overperforming their XG a little bit which might skew those numbers as well. But for the most part they've been pretty solid defensively all season one, the better defensive side. So once we got the goal, the onus was on Chelsea to try to create something and I, no, there wasn't any obvious chances that I felt like they were giving up. Yeah, we'd love to see like a second goal just to ice a game so it's not in limbo for the duration of it. It's a little bit more comfortable.

Jerrell:

Why stress me out for the next 70

Will:

This is what we do. But it was a fun game. You saw some counters. I thought arson was able to play a little bit more different and not just passing around then and had some counter opportunities, but huge result for them considering going in an international break. Martinelli, I thought he played really well. He was playing on both sides. At some point he was able to get into spaces of danger. No finish quite yet there, but I thought he looked good on the wings there. A boost over Sterling. No offense, Sterling and how he's looked over the last month. But now the next goal is we'll see if so is able to come back within the next couple weeks and

Jerrell:

start of April.

Will:

that's the rumored thing. But I don't know, I don't know if it's necessarily set, obviously the biggest fixture, outside of, trying to hold onto that number two spot. Biggest fixture coming up is gonna be against Madrid, I believe like April 8th or ninth, but.

Jerrell:

All right, Saka. Just be back for April

Will:

And be healthy, don't, don't risk. We'll see. It's gonna be fun. So

Jerrell:

I, I, I was gonna say, it does depend on like how that result go, that, how that result goes, but I. I think you do want Saka back for your match entry on Madrid.

Will:

if, if, if he's healthy, for sure. Yeah. If he's healthy and you feel like, it's not like he's like risking anything. You definitely want him to. Especially that's gonna be your home leg at the Emirates. Yeah. So they play the eighth and then your follow-up game is gonna be the Vernon Bay on the 16th, which is gonna be like going into a fucking, a meat grinder or something like that.

Jerrell:

Yeah. But with Martinelli coming back it,

Will:

more dynamism for sure. Yeah.

Jerrell:

Arsenal.

Will:

And when there's been playing really well off the right wing as well maybe it doesn't change too much, but We'll, we'll, we'll see. We'll see. There's been more cutting edge I think. Ode guard's been also doing really well outside of just goal scoring, I'd say, but he's been playing really well. You can see how he's been the engine with just how our results have changed since he came back from his injury earlier in the season.

Jerrell:

for sure. Another team that has a do or die mentality spurs, spurs fall to Fulham two zero. yeah. I've had a lot of criticism for the Spurs this season, but at the end of the day, they, they're gonna go out to win or it's just gonna blow up in their face and they have very drastic results throughout the season. Quite, quite an interesting club.

Will:

Yeah, heavily rotated coming into it. I think they had seven players,'cause they had the Europa League on Thursday rotated out of their starting lineup. Fullham dominated a lot of the first half. I'd say spurs were lucky to go into the half, zero zero. They bought in, they bought in sun and they bought in, I believe Solanki at half and they played a lot better. And were able to show a little bit more bite on attack. But late goals from uni and SES and over the last 12 minutes of regular time really sealed it. Not a lot going on in the game, but I also don't, it, it's tough, right?'cause obviously all they have to play for realistically is Europa League currently. Which they did move on, but tough to expect a result against a very gameful on team. At Cravens Cottage considering who you rolled out. So I think it was fair give and run and play, but Spurs also probably have different priorities the rest of the season. Fair play and, onto the next one.

Jerrell:

for sure. Definitely. And speaking of the next one Lester City versus Man, United. Man United, dropping three points on Lester City. Yeah, foxes are, are spiraling and

Will:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

I'm not saying that they've turned things around, but they're looking a little bit better on their own

Will:

I think my concern for Amram is he's not gonna be given the time or resources to do what he's trying to build for the team. From when he came in in what November to now, he just looks so tired already, which is very quick. And it comes with managing one of these big clubs, but considering the injuries and midseason, not hopefully we'll see. I think was it. Holson and I forgot the other goal score, that we were able to break some goals a scoreless drought for the team. I think this might be more of Bruno Fernan also got another goal. So that's back to back games for him. But I think this is more of a product CEER City the first time a Premier League side do seven straight at home without scoring a goal. Yeah, that's, that's about sums up what's going on with the foxes, I'd say.

Jerrell:

Listen man, United win the Euro book Cup, Emin's gonna get an extension too, and he, he can last into half, half of next season

Will:

I feel like you have to at least give him like another full season. I, hey.

Jerrell:

Definitely I, I was just speaking to like how Man United wants to run their club.

Will:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

Like trophies are important, but they only go so far. 10 hog, like that was a mistake.

Will:

Yeah,'cause if you can get Aram to come in the off season and you get like a training period, give given, yeah, there's Euros and whatnot, but given like a, a proper training camp, I think that's a lot different than November, Barcelona, they, even though most of the team was out for Euros, they bring flick in over the off season, he's really able to institute his style of play. We didn't, obviously didn't have a lot of investment over there and there's talent. On Manchester, United side. I don't know that we, we've talked that to death, I feel but it's also just like shit's weird over there. So we'll see. If it gets righted,

Jerrell:

season's a blank check For mrm,

Will:

I, it, it, it should be. And anyone without that expectation thinking they're gonna make a deep run or should win any specific compositions like expectation oh, it has to be a win. I, I think that's, that's foolish despite Manchester United thing, but they haven't been the same Manchester United. What, nine years ago they've, or more recently than that, they were able to finish third, but for the most part, they haven't been a force in over a decade. So we'll see.

Jerrell:

Yeah.

Will:

We also had a final, you alluded to a trophy drill. What happened on Sunday?

Jerrell:

New Castle said, fuck you will. We're gonna get a trophy before Arsenal

Will:

They said, hold my nuggets. Suck my dick.

Jerrell:

Newcastle go up two zero at the 52nd minute in the caribou. And Liverpool tries to salvage something with a, a stoppage time goal, the 90th plus four,

Will:

worst week of the season continued it, it looked like. Yeah.

Jerrell:

Yeah, for sure. Newcastle's first domestic trophy in 70

Will:

yeah. Yeah. So they haven't won one in, in 70 years in their first trophy in general, and since 69. Nice.

Jerrell:

definitely something

Will:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

What's, what's is, strange when looking at a Liverpool Scoreline is not seeing moala with the goal.

Will:

Yeah. They, you could tell just in the recap and whatnot, it looked like they were still carrying, like the, the weight of losing that tie at midweek against PSG at home or whatnot. Dan Burn, he was able to get a header. Local, local to new Newcastle fans gets a header right before half. Esau got ano, he had a goal disallowed for outside, and then came back and scored another goal. And then it was just pretty comfortable. Kisa got one in four minutes of extra time, but this, this one was dusted by the 52nd it felt like, which is weird considering how good Liverpool has been all season.

Jerrell:

Maybe that weight of PSG loss is so heavy they carry that into the rest of the Premier League. They do take on Everton next week, which was a very fun match. The first go round.

Will:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They just the, the re-up they did just last, last month, correct. Yeah.

Jerrell:

yes. Last

Will:

We'll see April 2nd. Everton. Give me, give me hope. Give me hope. So

Jerrell:

please.

Will:

No strikers, no problems.

Jerrell:

All right, champions League we got Champions League coming up. Before we jump into these previews, and I'll reiterate it at the end of the pod as well we're gonna go through our previews for UCL and Match Day 30, but we will be taking. won't have a podcast the week of March 26th due to the international break. So we will also be taking a break and we will be seeing you guys April 2nd after match, day 30. But we'll give you the previews right now. So for the Champions League, it's the Quarterfinals two league. We'll have arsenal verse real Madrid, PSG verse Villa Barcel, v Doman, and Byron verse Enter. these are great matchups,

Will:

Yeah. All, all, all, all, all all hitters. No fillers pretty much left,

Jerrell:

what they promised us when they did the Swiss

Will:

so well I'm sure I could probably guess. Christian's preview. You wanna dive into it a little bit or do you Actually, let's, why don't we do it? The ties on when we come back actually. We'll, we'll do a little research, we'll do a dive, we'll pick a, we'll pick a. Best performing player over the tides we expect,

Jerrell:

What's the eye

Will:

oh, just quick knee jerk reaction to Arsenal.'cause Fuck you Christian. Hope you're listening. PSG, Bara. And then give me enter, gimme answer over. Byron, how about you

Jerrell:

Okay. I, I actually think I, I side with, with with your picks as

Will:

sip

Jerrell:

I, I like enter. Yeah. I actually do enter, I wish I watched a little bit more. Syria. Syria, I would probably pick, enter as my team in

Will:

Available on Paramount Plus, cut the check.

Jerrell:

Yeah. Which I have. It's just, there's so much football.

Will:

Covering Premier League and Ucls by themselves is just all the time, we love to do it. So

Jerrell:

And then jumping into our match day 30 preview, which will be played April 1st and second, so a Tuesday, Wednesday

Will:

10 games this week. Yeah.

Jerrell:

10 games. We're back to 10. Arsenal v Fullham Wolves host Westham Nottingham Forest Take on Manchester United Bourmouth. First ips Switch. verse Villa Man City, verse Lester City, Newcastle and Brentford Brentford on the road Southampton versus Crystal Palace and Liverpool Verse Everton. We've alluded to a couple of those games, but if Arsenal has any chance of at least looking competitive for the trophy this season, Liverpool will have to fall to Everton, but that game is being played at

Will:

I also holding a stretch for Nottingham Forest for a chance to close gap for, we've been having a tough time against Fullham over the last couple seasons. It is at the Emirates. So need that Nottingham?

Jerrell:

Fullham, basically like Arsenal Academy players

Will:

I don't,

Jerrell:

and playing for

Will:

I'm not gonna fully, say, say they're fully that, but there's some guys I'm rooting for over there for sure, is what I'd say.

Jerrell:

Arsenal tree is

Will:

Yeah, yeah. And Nottingham Forests playing Manchester United, Manchester United, we've talked ad nauseum about their struggles this season, almost on opposite ends of the spectrum against Nottingham Forests who continue to having damn near dream season. Those are probably my two games I'm gonna be watching most intensely considering where we are on the table.

Jerrell:

Yeah, and we'll see. Like Newcastle's incredible run of, I shouldn't say incredible, they have dropped three games in the last five. But Newcastle's, bizaro world of the season, I'll play

Will:

Hey,

Jerrell:

is on the

Will:

they just won a trophy is all I'll say. So

Jerrell:

Yeah.

Will:

go, go mags.

Jerrell:

riding high off of their Caribou cup, their first domestic trophy in 70 years, Brentford will visit. What is, what is is it Amex? Where, where do New Castle play?

Will:

No, they play. Damn. Yeah, it's, it's, that's off the top of my head.

Jerrell:

of their grounds? St. James Park. I'm sorry, mag Pies. It's St. James

Will:

Or as Christian would say, considering the, the Brazil Columbia game tonight. St. Thomas Park.

Jerrell:

Ooh, I will be better. I'll learn all the grounds.

Will:

I was about to say gtech, but I know that's breadfruit. So

Jerrell:

That's burn. That's definitely

Will:

bit by bit, bit by bit. We're gonna get there.

Jerrell:

Getting there. We're getting there. That's gonna be closer than most people will think. I'm, I'm gonna give Brentford the win, if not a draw. Brentford comes away with points in this one.

Will:

Bradford's not leaving with nothing. We don't travel. We don't travel for fun, God dammit. Yeah. But outside of that, Brian Aston Ville, as we mentioned earlier, you should be a good tie considering where they're on the table.

Jerrell:

yep. The the table implications there both teams are gonna want all three points of, know, everybody wants to make it to the

Will:

Yeah. Yeah. Villa's they're still alive in UCL, but obviously they're, they're trying to remain in UCL next season and Brighton trying to sneak into a spot for sure not point back so crazy where they're, how tight everything is there.

Jerrell:

Yeah. Surprised that Villa that is still in Champions League. If you would've told me it was gonna be Villa and not Liverpool, I'd be like,

Will:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Shout out to whoever cash that back. But those long moves for Rashford and Asencio have been huge for them over the last couple weeks. I feel like you see their names on square sheets week by week. So good on them.

Jerrell:

Oh yeah. And any other matches That

Will:

outside of, we talked about, but the Liverpool, Everton, you're half mile, your stadiums are like, what, A half mile away, whatever it is. That's always gonna be fun. So yeah. And then considering Liverpool, it's probably on the worst run of form of the season. I'm sure they're gonna wanna put a stamp on this one, considering how the last one ended at Goodison Park. That'll probably be the other one that's gonna go for, just for general vibes. So

Jerrell:

Just play spoiler. Everton loves playing. Spoiler. If and if they could take points, if they could take all points out, Everton, they'll be partying until the

Will:

we, so what, what's Liverpool's magic number at? Is it still at the same spot? So Arsenal can only win 27 more points. So they just need five wins in a draw and they'll be okay. 16 points is the magic number. Fuck, fuck. Yeah, this is fine. This is fine. So 86, the number keeps getting smaller. So cool.

Jerrell:

If they hit 86,

Will:

Yeah, yeah. It's cooked. It's cooked as we continue to keep saying throughout the season. Other slight news, off the side of away from the Premier League is the Oona Barcelona game rescheduled. I'm not gonna go too far into it. Barcelona's trainer passed a coup a few weeks ago but right before the game on game day. Both teams agreed not to play it. La Liga said we're gonna reschedule that for March 27th.'cause the only other free week that it could be played would be on the Runup. It would be midweek between the second and last, second to last and last weeks of the season. Barcelona's schedule over the next couple weeks is a lot. They have four games in nine days, followed up by the next couple weeks are U-C-L-U-C-L ties. It'll be like Una. Then at Leko, then UCL, then another game, and then UCL again. Just something that I thought found interesting over the next couple of weeks. I understand the decision and why it was made for La Liga, but Barcelona may be playing without a number of players coming off of international break. They'll definitely be without. Nia in a game that they over-rotated for and lost. I think their biggest loss of the season was against Una in like October. So should be a good game. Both teams were just what the fuck? But hey, Laga. So sorry. I just snuck that in there,

Jerrell:

when are the, when are the Kobe bars

Will:

bro. I'll buy it. I'll buy it for the squad. That's that be, that's that'd be our 50th episode. Yeah. Especially Christian. I'm gonna get, I'm gonna get him a messy all caps, 10 goat.

Jerrell:

That's fucking

Will:

He'd love it.

Jerrell:

and in other news, in the western hemisphere,

Will:

yeah. Give it to me.

Jerrell:

the USL voted to bring promotion and relegation to American soccer or as the rest of the world calls it football. Exciting. Very exciting.

Will:

Yeah. If we can find a way to make that. All those leagues and all those fan bases and markets feasible enough that the owners of MLS are willing to give up slices, the ca, the, the cake or the pie, so we can get that into MLS and the other leagues. That'd be ideal. But in the meantime just good to see it rel relegation in any way, shape or form bought to US Professional League in the United States.

Jerrell:

The only bad news of it is there's certain rumors circulating about how big your stadiums need to be if you're gonna

Will:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

flight. And the USL does not have the infrastructure. I think four teams fit the bill for

Will:

Yep.

Jerrell:

So yeah, a lot of, and then USL isn't popular either. It doesn't have a big draw, they have two years to figure it out and also get their first division going, but it's trending in the right direction.

Will:

Yeah,

Jerrell:

soccer fans will appreciate what they're trying to do, and hopefully they show

Will:

hopefully you also see

Jerrell:

sure that

Will:

MLS also relaxes, like those barriers to entry that they have set in.'cause I know it was like you had to have pre like much of a metro area or a population base around you of I forgot X thousand people and the stadium sizing thing, which I understand. And we need to see more investment over time. The only way we can also get that is like if we find ways to pump money into this. And also I think it's just a good opportunity for different regions and how, how big the US is for development of professional players to begin in different areas than outside of like major hub cities. Yeah, we'll see how it goes, but, and like you said, positive news, it's a plus.

Jerrell:

Yeah, definitely. All right. Did you have any other shout outs,

Will:

Oh, oh yeah. Yeah. We got one more. We got one more. Tonight's the night drill. Tonight's the night because we have the blood war. We're back. We're back. Columbia, Brazil. Tonight at 8:45 PM Eastern Time drill. Who do you got? Dre

Jerrell:

I remember.

Will:

Colo. Exactly. And if. There's no way they lose. Colombia if you're hearing this, the game's already done. Congratulations on your three points. There's no way I'm going to eat my words next pod circle. Back to the first pod. I believe Jarrell is it? Can we sneak in Cua Negra here at some point?

Jerrell:

I could try.

Will:

Oh, okay. That's all I asked for the attempt.

Jerrell:

We, we moved off of Audacity, which I, which was easy to do, and then I just had to figure it out in the script, but

Will:

I appreciate everything you do because I have no idea what goes on on the back end. You just let me come here and talk with you every week, and that's my favorite thing, so thank you, Jerome.

Will:

Freedom

Jerrell:

We, we are taking our international break and we will back again. April 2nd or third

Will:

two weeks.

Jerrell:

match Day 30, pre go more into Champions League. We might talk about Europa as well because Men United and Tottenham are still alive in that tournament.
