Jerrell:

Do the do. Episode 35. Go ahead, Christian. Take it away.

Christian:

Bang, bang, bang, bang. Are we recording? Are we live? Hold up my computer.

Jerrell:

Real professionals don't ask that. They always assume they're

Will:

If you stay ready, you never had to spend time getting ready.

Christian:

I say already just for other things. What's up guys? Welcome to episode insert number

Will:

Was that a euphemism?

Christian:

Will

Jerrell:

told you it was 35

Christian:

welcome back.

Jerrell:

from the top.

Christian:

on, Al. Come on Al. Welcome to episode 35 of the Fu Spa. Fellas, we just got through a crazy soccer week. shout out to all the winners and the losers. No, we can shout out the losers sometimes too, guys.

Jerrell:

And the people who, who

Will:

May Man was fucking crazy last week and now, now suddenly he was the shadow losers. Carry on.

Christian:

But yeah, man. What's up? Shout out to all the people. Anybody. You guys wanna give a shout out real quick too.

Jerrell:

I want to give a shout out to the date. Today is Thursday, April 10th, 2025. That's my shout out

Will:

Do you wanna elaborate on that a little bit more?

Jerrell:

on the date. You know what, what, what is the significance of today? Nothing really. What is a Bing telling Master's tournament?

Will:

Okay. Okay. Alright. Hey, Re's. Just, yeah, I,

Christian:

news.

Will:

I thought it was gonna be something like, yeah, but no. Yeah. You know what? Drill, you're right. Every day is a celebration. Celebration of more life. So

Christian:

For sure

Will:

shout out.

Jerrell:

Golf. Golf is happening

Will:

No, I can't shout out golf. Unfortunately that shit's boring as fuck.

Christian:

Yeah. I can still run around, therefore I am not into golf yet.

Jerrell:

All right. What about those socials?

Will:

Fuck you golf. I said it here first. It ain't no fucking golf podcast. That shit goes soft as fuck.

Jerrell:

Nobody cares for golf. This is a soccer podcast. This is a football podcast

Christian:

social socials. We have a website. Shout out to intern number two for that website. We have a Twitter, we have blue sky question mark. And I know for sure we have an Instagram

Will:

We do be skating on blue sky.

Christian:

We do be skiing on Blue Sky. That's

Jerrell:

the Football Fellows on all socials.

Christian:

of them. All the socials. Hey, up guys? Welcome back. Welcome back. Long time, no talk. Long time, no talk. How, how, how you guys been.

Jerrell:

were here last week, right? Yeah.

Will:

saw you fuckers two days ago,

Jerrell:

Yeah,

Will:

but you're right, it's been way too long. It's been way too long.

Christian:

too.

Will:

So we had, we're diving into Match day 31, a little bit of premier. Preview the huge,

Jerrell:

a little bit. Go ahead. you want

Will:

oh, I was just asking a question. I was just, I was just trying to set the agenda

Jerrell:

definitely

Will:

this league.

Jerrell:

31

Will:

I'll say it with your chest.

Christian:

yeah. Match 31. We don't have to get into the, the UCL.

Will:

That's why I asked us to go at extra day so I can actually see some other games since life was life

Jerrell:

going into the

Christian:

I

Will:

oh yeah.

Christian:

are on a time crunch today. There's no reason to get into all of it, you

Will:

Uh, I think it's necessary. Go ahead, j.

Jerrell:

won one Draw Tr we got the first half goal, but we Arsenal gave up a penalty in the second half. And, hey, gunner, take one point Nesson Park. A Crystal Palace beats Brighton. The good match actually Ipwich drops to wolves. Their best chance to close the

Christian:

don't hurt.

Jerrell:

getting relegated. They fall a little short. I believe they took a, a lead early on that one. And, and then they just. Fumbled the bag. Westham and Bournemouth. draw 2 2 2 Aston V and Nottingham Forest. Aston Villa beats the tricky trees. Two one Brentford and Chelsea draw zero. Zero scoreless match. Brentford, still looking for that post-Christmas home win. Unlucky Fullham Beach, Liverpool. Three, two. Big shock. Honestly, I was surprised there. Good game, spurs. Take care of Southampton three one. The Manchester Derby is a Manchester Dud zero zero. Both sides. Lester City get blanked by Newcastle. Three zero. All right, guys. Tell me your favorite match of the week.

Christian:

I'll tell you which one was not my favorite.

Jerrell:

I asked you for your favorite.

Christian:

boys.

Will:

That tracks.

Christian:

here. There's no script here. Ch Tractor Boys hurt. I, I wasn't, I was keeping up with the, the score online and I saw first half, first half one goal up. We got this, it's in the bag, and then it turned out we were not in the bag. Actually,

Will:

Yeah, what they pull out of the bag was a big old middle finger to their supporters.'cause shit went sideways pretty quick. Yeah.

Jerrell:

really wanted to give it. They wanted to teach us a lesson to indirect free kicks as

Will:

Oh yeah. That shit was crazy. Watching it live. Was just like, oh shit. It is just like us on Tuesday.

Jerrell:

I saw that and I.

Will:

Every, everything was exactly like us. He tried to stop it with the studs, which apparently that's what you learn when you're a youth in soccer playing countries. Don't stop it as a goalkeeper with your studs. That's bad fundamentals. And then he had to dive to save it, which honestly was very athletic for him to recover and make the dive in touch to get in touch. But yeah, and from, honestly, even a little bit before that they were looking a little shaky on their own backend, and then wolves were able to. Get the first one. Second one came right out here, but things I haven't seen in a long time was that indirect free kick.

Christian:

sad, came off the bench in the 65, 60 fifth minute and then 10 minutes later he just scored the equalizer. And then I think he was actually involved in setting up Strand Larson's winner. So I mean it, the bench played a big role on this one. Shout out to the wolves for killing all hopes and dreams of tractors.

Will:

Drew, I hope you have the clip ready from last week. When Christian was saying it's in the easy, easy dub, whatever it was last week, when Christian guaranteed the win. Just have that queued up for this one.

Jerrell:

Oh yeah, the sound, the

Will:

Yeah, yeah. We said we would clip it to start that episode, so can't wait. We're gonna cut this whole section. It's just to be Christian being like whatever he said last week, but yeah.

Jerrell:

Boys, guaranteed

Will:

Yeah, tractor voice guaranteed to get relegated. Looks like at this point, unfortunately, so

Christian:

boys. It's cooked.

Will:

cooked. It's like a motif of the season.

Jerrell:

my eyes when I saw Fulham leading Liverpool on I think that was the Saturday match, no. Sunday. Incredible. I was just like, is fullham

Will:

I asked them if they were cow, they weren't, and Liverpool also is showing up. They've had a couple games where they've fell behind early and have been able to get something out of it. But Fullham doing a great job goal up three one. They Lucha was able to give him a goal, Liverpool goal a little bit later, but they're still games to be won. Got the result we wanted there, but we didn't, we weren't able to get another one. So the league continues to be cooked. I'll give you the magic number I guess when we finished that at the end of everything. But Liverpool definitely looking a little lackadaisical. This is their only competition left and yeah, the league's relatively in the back, but you still got put in performances aren't slight. Don't remember the exact quote, but pretty much was echoing that sentiment. Just kinda we still have games to win and we have things we're trying to build on going into next season. Other Liverpool News though, it looks like Sala and Van Dyke are gonna be staying on two year deals as like some, like

Christian:

Is over.

Will:

leeway has gone through. So

Jerrell:

run it

Will:

you have to do it, when you have two kind of damn near legendary figures at the club and the form solo was, has been on throughout most of the season. There's that.

Jerrell:

Grass. Sorry, Barcelona. I know it was thrown out there in the wind, but

Will:

Get the fuck outta your,

Jerrell:

hey.

Christian:

He's

Will:

you.

Christian:

He's too old. The last, too old for Barcelona at this point.

Will:

It's just, whoa. Just skipping ahead. Skipping ahead. There's a lot of, there's a lot of footies going on in, in England this, this week. Speak.

Jerrell:

does close the gap with their draw. I think the gap is now 11 points, but they would,

Will:

I.

Jerrell:

Liverpool they would've rather taken all three against Everton. I think Arsenal tied both times with Everton this season.

Will:

Let's talk about it though, because in no way should MLS have been called for a penalty there. That's just body shielding. You see that bang, bang. And at worst, even if you call a foul, you call a foul as a free kick outta the box. So another frustrating kind of we're talking about reps again, and sometimes it's self-inflicted, whatnot. But. In that, and it was just even on the broadcast, at least on Peacock, they were just talking about, it's oh, there's, you never see a penalty that goes to var, VAR doesn't overturn it, so what's the point? Frustration. So Arsenal, I think it's their 11th draw of the season. And that pretty much, yeah, just tells the tale about where the season, when Ari in a season where I was like going over results. There were loss this season was some two o's. Was in Karabell Cup and whatnot. All in all, still like a solid season. But the goal is definitely frustrating them not being able to get a winner in Go Toton Park. Just a tough place to play. Was tough, but good on Everson to get through Liverpool. Arsen and Lisa, within a punches distance on both ends. Obviously weren't able to get the result against Liverpool last week, but 11 draws and the magic numbers, even though Liverpool loss is smaller now, so Arsenal right now can only get 83 points. So

Jerrell:

point

Will:

yeah, Liverpool's only needs 11 in their next seven to win the league, so we'll see.

Jerrell:

Oh boy. We'll

Will:

Oh boy. Indeed.

Christian:

you believe?

Jerrell:

in

Christian:

you believe?

Jerrell:

Brighton game.

Will:

Oh yeah, that shit that they, they lost the plot. Yeah. Yeah. So first Premier League game with three red cards in 12 years, as looked like me on the night out, just giving out reds to everyone, honestly. Matta and Danny Beck, they traded goals in the first half. And Daniel Munoz, resident Colombian fullback. He was able to get a winner in the second half as palace at when they were with nine men. Were able to hold on to take the three points against Yeah, the te the, the, the red on. I think Brighton was super late, but still, still really weird. Shout Crystal Palace, the form at 2025 versus their form first half of the season to where they are on the table currently. Shout to Crystal Pels continuing to get results.

Jerrell:

See, crystal Palace can win with only nine men opposed to other teams who need all 11 to

Christian:

Was it like eight cards in the second half? That was just, you get a card. You get a card, you get a card.

Will:

Yeah, not, not, not the best Reving display. Probably definitely lost the plot a little bit,

Jerrell:

but that does move Crystal Powells up to the 11th spot. They have just been their form has just been so impressive compared to the first half of the season. So good for

Christian:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

Honestly they're probably not in contention for any European spots, but it's good for morale. It's good to see the resurgence and getting behind the manager and just going out there and getting those wins. Especially something, especially a win like this that seems so improbable. So there's still palace on the rise. We did talk about Ipswich and wolves. Very depressing for Ipswich. Sure. They, they might as well be relegated, but the math is still

Christian:

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, everybody. Relax. Yeah. No, they're cooked.

Jerrell:

still

Christian:

They're done. We'll never see a tractor again.

Will:

I don't think that's accurate, go off game. West Ham, after a pretty flat first half at the London Stadium, they're able to get a tie out of their result with burn myth trading goals in the second half after Nielsen gets a brace. Nicholas only his second appearance since after he took a knock in mid-January that he's been out. He was able to get a goal an assistant like West Ham looking like more to form and a tight two, two result. I think Mitz got probably played better, maybe deserved the points a little bit better, but good response. Second half by West Ham. Forgot if the team was rotated actually after FA Cup stuff, but maybe not. We also had Villa Villa continuing their strong form as they were coming into UCL this week. They hit their eighth straight win in all competitions after two early goals in two minutes from Morgan Rogers and Danielle Mullin and Forest. Drop points and what's been a very good season for four. So as soon as we were like, oh yeah, they're good they stand now. Four points clear of fifth, five points clear of six as the England's confirmed to get the fifth spot extra performance spot for UCL next year. So top five will be making the UCL competition. So nine ham four is still with some work to do, even though our premature praises, but still great season.

Jerrell:

Yeah,

Christian:

I feel if I give them more praise, I'm just gonna jinx them. They're gonna end up like 10th,

Will:

They're gonna be your new tractor boys.

Christian:

eh, trick trees.

Jerrell:

no, you leave them alone.

Will:

Tricky tractors. Just copy and paste the Yeah, look what you've done to my boy. Chelsea looking hapless still throughout the last, I feel, I wanna say two months, they just have looked like a shell of the team we saw especially November, December for them. There is another zero zero draw this time against Bradford on the road. Cole Palmer's really, really, really ice cold right now. Missing strikers and yeah. Yeah, I don't have much to shout. As Chelsea's looking to also clutch some odd Champions league places right now. Chelsea's currently still sitting forth only a point up on Man City, two points on Villa five points on Fulham, but Chelsea started the season. I feel like their strength was all the ways they were scoring goals and. Now, yeah, a little bit of a slump for them. A little bit on the downturn. It against a very game brentford team at home. Brentford not getting, the winners are all set, but hey, a point at home, it's a, it could lead to something the rest of the season.

Jerrell:

It can, it can. Yeah, Chelsea just bleeding out. They were hemorrhaging, they stopped that. Now they're just to a light bleed. Just now they're just a little bit inconsistent. to hold onto that fourth spot. If they can get the, if they four or five, I guess that's fine. That's gonna work for, for this campaign. But they need to get on the right track. They got their next matches against Ipswich. So how do, what do we say boys get right game?

Christian:

For if Switch. Yeah.

Jerrell:

might c

Will:

There it is. I was trying to see if he still had the, the optimism going, I wasn't gonna rain on him,

Jerrell:

little fight in.

Will:

At home? Nope. Hmm,

Jerrell:

No.

Will:

hmm. Spurs gotta win. Spurs on post colu. Just looking super depressed. In all these post games. Just talking about just the expectations on Spurs, a little bit of just with some of the criticism towards them. Just like even when you pick a penalty kicker that, spreads, they just can't get anything. But. Spurs were able to get a win this week at home. So three, one. Getting a win very far. Cry from the preseason comments when post Colu was talking about, Hey, everywhere I go, two years, we win something.

Jerrell:

Has a chance to do that though.

Will:

Oh yeah, he does. He does. He's still Oh, he's, they're still in the Europa League. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I was more focused on the Manchester United tie with Leo just because Oana and mania Mad was getting into, I forgot about Ty on him, which is shame on me.

Jerrell:

that, yeah.

Christian:

Is it though?

Jerrell:

he's still alive.

Will:

See Southampton's not.

Jerrell:

Sy Hampton definitely is not. They've, they've literally became the earliest. Team Reg relegated in the Premier League. And they could still be the team to have the least amount of

Will:

Their magic number is two still. Yeah. So we need two points. One win, two draws. Flee. South Hampton, we already broke one record. Let's not break another one. We're rooting for the Saints.

Jerrell:

You

Will:

yeah. Somehow though, somehow

Jerrell:

We're

Will:

keep saying that and you sound less and less like confident week by week. So

Jerrell:

because he's reading the schedule that they have.

Will:

you got a schedule in front of you, Christian.

Christian:

yeah, they got Westham, then they got Fullham, Lester, man City, Everton, and they're finish, they're finishing off with us. Arsenal,

Will:

Hmm. 2, 2, 2 draws. Two draws. Hey, all, all we need to do is just pick up a red and maybe they can speak something up. Probably not.

Jerrell:

Can

Will:

somehow South Hampton. Not

Christian:

can tie lyer or

Will:

Hampton though. Just not the most depressing team. Yeah. Christian, why assess your city can't score a fucking goal? Eight. Straight home losses without a goal. Jacob Murthy. Newcastle, Jacob Murphy. He has a brace in 11 minutes at home. What the fuck? Why Sister City? It's honestly depressing.'cause it's okay to have a shit team. It happens, sometimes you're not in the best run for, but at least give me something to cheer for. Give me a goal and like I, I said it last week and I, it is just like the body, the spirit. Everything's broken right now in Chester City. You're going down, you have PSR concerns just. Ru Van Roy was bought in to be skipper for the rest of the season. It's just, it's all bad there. It's all bad. If I had a power rankings on like the worst vibes in the league, it's the foxes followed by maybe the saints, maybe Christian after with the tractor voice, but, but fucking God damn. Please, Fox, just give us a goal. Just give us a goal, please.

Jerrell:

Eight straight home games. They're stuck at 25. Southampton's at 23. Does Southampton score more goals in Lester City

Will:

All right. The only thing I can ask, the only thing I can ask for Southampton is two, two points. That's, that's all I want. I don't wanna, I don't wanna remember them for this.

Jerrell:

squirrels.

Will:

I, I don't wanna win this trivia night in the States, I just yeah. Yeah. And then we also had, speaking of no goals, we had a Manchester Derby. Yes, sir. Yes sir.

Jerrell:

Derby day. My stepdad texted me. He was watching the game. He was like, I don't know if I should go for Manchester United or Manchester City. I'm like, definitely Manchester United. I don't care how bad they're doing, but if they're a good city, you go for United.

Will:

Manchester United was really good for really long guys, but Yeah. Yeah. Zero zero is fair, fair, fair game. City dropped to six though. They're now a point outside of UCL qualification, so their next seven games. Super important. Also Kevin Debr shout Kevin de Broin. He announced that he is gonna be leaving city rumored with maybe an MLS side. Apparently I learned about de

Jerrell:

Miami.

Will:

about destination rights in MLS continues to as makeup terms to describe Yeah, just

Christian:

rates?

Will:

destination rights is that, I don't know how the name picking goes, but you can apparently name I think five players. Where you get first bidding rights to sign them. So this is designed to avoid having teams send up the, a price on a contract for a player. So pretty much my inner Miami Kevin de Broin, they can offer him his first contract. And because portions of players' contracts over a certain value or something like that, the whole league pays for it. As an enterprise, which is really fucking weird. So destination rights, it's yeah, you're cutting off. So pretty much just like Orlando City and it's not a bidding war considering like caps and, designated players and all this. So Dero apparently would be able to make eight 20 5K initially. And then they'll probably be able to re-up him for a bigger deal, but they also have to figure out their designation players.'cause with Suarez messy bus gets elbow out there and whatnot. So I think they'd have to let a player go and everything.

Jerrell:

I don't know. That's the thing I don't get with, and I don't wanna get into MLS too much'cause it's just

Will:

It says for formula,

Jerrell:

with, with Inner Miami where you have,

Christian:

Can you trade DP spots too?

Jerrell:

players, I think you have to the player has to

Will:

so yes.

Jerrell:

or you send'em to a non DP contract. I don't know. DP means that you can sign them for more. Than like the

Will:

So what happened was Laan, I think a couple years ago, and fact, check me if you're listening or whatnot, I was reading about it on The Athletic'cause I was like, oh, this is fucking weird. How the fuck are they gonna get dero and also Dero mess. He overlap with abilities, but whatever. But so Laan, when he first went to the Galaxy, they didn't have the space for a dp. So I forgot if they released a player initially or they signed him on like this bullshit$800,000 deal. And then after the season, cut a DP and then gave him a DP contract after, which was like pretty much under the table, Hey, do this, we're gonna send you money. And also I think he got like ownership rights to like some club or an affiliate to like the Galaxy as well. Athletic did some reporting. It was like really good, they'd just be making up rules because the whole league's paying for it anyway. So they're just trying to keep down the price to have these players join the league.'cause apparently everyone pays for these contracts because there's further enrichment of the league.

Jerrell:

of competition.

Will:

competition. It's just also like weird marketing built in because I'm just like, Orlando City, please. Someone.

Jerrell:

other league do this? Like outside

Will:

mean, I'm,

Jerrell:

outside of football, just basketball, baseball? Does this happen anywhere

Will:

wow. I, I wanna say no off the top of my head, but I'm sure that there's a lot of different leak structures out there. Maybe the biggest leak to do it considering MLS. Even though they're getting more competitive, like relatively l ranked on other teams in the like world, other leagues in the world. But yeah, I, I'd have to do some research, but I'm assuming not, I'm assuming not unless it's like the NFL or something like that. The NFL, like they share revenue between their teams because they're like, no, we do need parody between all these markets. So that way, it. It's like what? The water rises, all ship rises or whatever. So they do a version of it, but it's not to the extent of just Hey, we're all paying this player's contract. I feel like. So different revenue sharing model. So weird stuff, but whatever.

Jerrell:

For sure

Will:

And that was the MLS corner.

Christian:

Corner.

Will:

we did it again. The Synergy Christian.

Christian:

That was crazy.

Will:

Did we miss anyone? I think we killed.

Jerrell:

No, we

Will:

Yeah

Jerrell:

Every fair representation across the

Will:

magic number once again. 11 points for Liverpool.

Christian:

Two points for the Saints.

Jerrell:

We're on Saints to watch

Will:

Yeah. We're on St. Wash. Yeah. Yeah. So cool. Sit. We also had UCL this week.

Jerrell:

Champions League quarter finals. Every match was worth

Will:

Yeah, all the ties were fun for one reason or another. And I think honestly, every match next week is also fun to watch for one reason or another. Yeah, so we can start with it. We can start with it real quick. Arsenal, real Madrid at the Emirates ended in a three oh result. Declan Rice, he hit two free kicks, two beautiful free kicks to beat Tbo, Courtis, and Marino. Had a a, a quick volley, first touch volley that he hit with his off foot that hit into the side and Marine nine. So 3 0 9 and what's probably like the biggest night in the Emirates ever.

Jerrell:

think we were all a regard on Declan Rice's second free kick. Did you see him? He just puts his hands behind his head. He is just what the fuck?

Will:

It was beautiful. Yeah. Yeah.

Jerrell:

That

Christian:

kick goal, right? Like it was his first free kick goal ever.

Will:

yeah, so everyone's throwing the stat around. He's played 388 games previously it's his first two goals. He also only had 12 attempts in total now with those two. But yes, his.

Jerrell:

To 13.

Will:

okay. But beautiful, beautiful, beautiful attempts that he took. And just honestly considering, I guess to recap the game early on, arsenal was early pressing, pressing play. Madrid looked relatively comfortable accepting some pressure. It looked like they were doing the Bara formula where there's we're just gonna counter you to death. Early chance where in MBA and. Vinny almost connected. Vinny couldn't get the pass just right to get to MB Mbae as it got blocked in what was a dangerous situation for him. And Mbae had another look when Ja, Jacob KiOR he misplaced the pass and I MBA had a look sky it. But really I think it was like two really good chances. One half chance I'd say, and one really good chance on a counter where Bape had Raya like dead to rights a little bit and he just mis hitch shot it right at Raya. And then you saw the struggles a little bit with the back on Devo Court while amazing game because,

Christian:

had a

Will:

I think Jude Bellingham said it after that, we could have, we probably could have lost a little bit by more considering the chances are collected. And as someone who's watched a good amount of real Madrid ucls, he really felt like it was edging towards a just oh, this, you, you, you can't give him these chances. You can't give him leeway. You gotta finish it. And this is Arsenal story over the last few months, and then out of No. Declan Rice. Yeah. He hit the first tower and then he hit the, he hit the second one with the second free kick. Yeah. And even then it was still like a little heady, right? Yeah. You sent that shit to me. Or, or was I was like, that was disgusting. And then Marino with the third goal was huge. Late, you were almost expecting to see if Ra Madrid could get a goal just to add a little bit of intrigue, but I think us talking about the lead up about, hey, what does each team want to go, go, right? In this first night, artisan was able to accomplish, say you got the lead.

Jerrell:

That piece.

Will:

yeah. Not the set pieces we thought, but Yeah. But them being able to go 3.0 out of them or it's obviously you're still playing Royal Madrid, you're still. You're still dealing with the dark arts over there and you never know what the fuck had happened.

Jerrell:

not like you're, it's not like you just played

Will:

But and another thing I wanted to touch on was that people were trying to say that this was an indictment of Angelo Christian was talking about it in the group chat where he is just like, you know what? Christian was going through the stages of denial. He had accepted this real quick. He is you know what, this is good actually. Yeah. But but yeah we talked about it before. It's just real Madrid, their balance has been awful. A lot of this season you're asking a lot of guys to fill some holes and they'll work on the back line. You expect some spending to be done, but even in January you expected signings to be done and and so

Christian:

to assign some people and we just didn't. Now

Will:

yeah.

Christian:

three midfielders playing in our back line. Verde, who's a fucking Verde, is good as fuck. he's playing great wherever we put him, but we need him somewhere in the center.

Will:

you, I he, he can play. Yeah, he can play anywhere. He is a very talented player. You will, you'd prefer to see him in that midfield set of luum over obviously great career at 39, having to be dependent on so heavily throughout the game. It's, it's tough and it's just shows in their depth because. You didn't wanna start Luca Lucas Vasquez necessarily on that side of when Martinelli's in relatively good form over the last couple weeks. And then on the other side, David Alba for, as great of a career, he, as he, he's still working himself into form and you get to see a bca Yeah, you get to see Bcao fucking AKA who also coming off of injury but is also like 10 to what, 13 years? His junior and Saka had a great game. He didn't get a goal necessarily, but he was creating a lot of danger on that side and you could see it really destabilized. Madrid and what they typically like to do to soak up pressure on that back line.

Jerrell:

Oh yeah, that one that he sent acro across the face of goal.

Will:

Oh, yeah. With the right foot. Mm-hmm.

Jerrell:

wasn't there? Yeah, the run just wasn't there. I was just like, that could, that could have set things off. But yeah,

Will:

SI mean.

Jerrell:

they're not outta the woods, yeah. I think real Madrid's done it before where they've been able to

Will:

Everyone

Jerrell:

split the.

Will:

everyone's toting just not three. Oh, technically I'm just like, oh man, dude, don't tug on Superman's cape. But yeah, we'll see. Still some questions go, but yeah, if Madrid can score early and just maybe put a little bit of uncertainty towards that team, but also Arsenal, I'd wanna say that this seems like a fruition of years of development in that project from when they first came to Emirates after Highbury Park. And then just getting to this point where it's just this is probably the biggest result they've had in us, like Champions League specifically since they would be able to take the first, like against Barcelona that, that team in 20 11, 20 12. Shout Arsenal. Ha, halftime. Halftime though over there.

Jerrell:

Yeah, I wanna jump over to the league representative as V of dropping to PSG three one. Yeah, PSGs on a tear. They, they've definitely started finding goals in this quarter final.

Will:

Yeah. And Emmy Martinez, solid game, but like the two goals scored by Desiree Duhe and Skelly they're worldy, there's they're goals. You can't really do anything with. Necessarily. The two, one result, if they could have held onto it, they already gave up one in two minutes left and night extra time it seemed like, Hey, if you're hitting a home leg, hey, you expect to win by a goal at least. Hey, let's see what happens necessarily with your team behind you. Going down. Two goals though against a PSG team that's been firing on all cylinders. Especially this half of 2025, they clinched legal already with six games to go. Over there. It's tough and it just says a lot about Louis Enrique, his project over there. That frontline k great signing in January to pair. With dut Barla they have Usman Dve as playing as a false nine. And that's with we talked about the midfield and everything going on there. Great project scary team, and they have different ways that they can beat you without necessarily a focal point. So shout out PSG. Tough break for Villa, but hey, you're headed home, so you, stranger things have happened, right?

Christian:

I think this it'll end up being if the scores stay like this, it'll be PSG arsenal, right?

Will:

Yeah,

Christian:

matchup.

Will:

that is correct.

Christian:

what it takes to take on a red hot TSG team?

Will:

So what I'll say about Arsenal. What I'll say about Arsenal is that even though it's been a relatively disappointing season with our expectations and goals for them coming into season, with, what the trajectory looked like two back to back second place finishes. They don't, they haven't really been out of any games this year. We've been frustrated a lot by some draws them not being able to ecal goals. They're worse goal like they've lost by two'cause they're worse result. I think it happened three times this year. Two times in the carrabelle, one of the games they were chasing the game trying to get a result. And I think it was, don't quote, I don't remember. I wanted to say burn with, but I'm probably fucking lying. But, and one EPL game.

Jerrell:

Sounds That sounds

Will:

So I was like looking through. So it's just our TE is ball and just oh, it's not enterprising enough and we need a nine. All this. They've controlled games relatively well. There's been issues with obviously the ac crew of red cards and but it's rare that you see them like fully tilted, like we don't necessarily give up like. Multiple goals. I think earlier in the season it might've been Villa where they had given up two goals in nine when they were up like too low at Emirates. But for the most part, they're able to, and I think that's what they're able to do with Madrid, where Hey, maybe the first goal, second goal, you hold on whatever. They continue to impose their play to get that third goal, and it was an important goal.'cause two, at Madrid you don't feel great about it necessarily. Just'cause of what they've done before. I think they definitely have the pieces. I think it will be an interesting battle in the midfield. And it would turn into just yeah, who's gonna be able to exhibit that control and how would they handle just kind of like those three wings, those three creators up top.'cause all the, all the, those guys in their front line can just play for PSG can play in any fucking position there with the false nine they run out there. I think Arsenal definitely has a shot. I think Okta has them ranked as favorites right now out of everyone to win based off like the coefficient and whatever they do, but, one game at a time

Jerrell:

Enter and Byron enter gives up their third goal. Of the Champions League campaign to

Christian:

Ooh.

Jerrell:

and

Will:

and it, and it was almost a Cinderella goal. Yeah. Thomas Mueller gets subbed on late Thomas Mueller after 17 years, I believe with. Byron, he's not being, he's gonna be let go as a free agent. So he's gonna have a new club for the first time in two decades. He's able to, yeah.

Christian:

wild.

Will:

Yeah. Thomas Mueller, the, the space interpreter there for a lot of huge moments that, all the huge moments I can remember since I started following football for Byron he gets a equalizer in the 85th minute that they were searching for Byron. I think was, and it might've been game script a little bit. We're trying to get on the front foot more. Harry Kay missed a very unusual goal. You expect him to finish where I think they started celebrating before he hit far post on an open look he had. But an able to get a goal late at the Allian. So now they're going back to San Sierra with a lead. So fuck answer, Darrell, you called it I think four episodes ago.

Jerrell:

Is scary.

Christian:

Interesting.

Will:

Yeah. So

Jerrell:

very

Will:

buyer just missing that little bit of edge to end their play.

Jerrell:

we expect a little bit more too, right? Because who does interplay? They haven't faced like a true striker in Harry Kane. they did play Byron earlier in this, in the champions league. They won that one too, I thought. No, they didn't. be confusing all that, but they did get a goal. It just didn't come from Harry Kane.

Will:

Yeah. Yeah.

Jerrell:

But can Byron fix the issues or can they figure out where they can attack? Inter, inter is just solid.

Will:

yeah.

Jerrell:

just a solid team.

Will:

Yeah, they provide kinda like different questions. Byron was able to create chances. They just didn't have any finishing to go in this one. Out of all the ties obviously just based off Scoreline and also just kinda. Based off Byron's pedigree, it's just this looks like the most likely to be overturned but enter right now looking strong. So we'll see what, we'll see if the Byron's able to respond early and try to avoid having to press too much.'cause that's what Enter wants. They kinda wanna hit you in the break with Ludo playing really well next to ku for them in that 3, 5 2

Jerrell:

And last but not least,

Christian:

Football.

Jerrell:

dominates Doman four zero

Will:

yeah.

Jerrell:

to tell. I I've, I've got home late and I was like, oh shit. The Barcelona game's on. I tuned in. I was like, oh, it's four

Will:

It. It's like watching a high stakes gambling every couple days for me right now.'cause it's just like that how line, that high line and how it kind of like goes with how they play in their midfield and everything. It just, it really does. And the amount of offsides or whatnot when they got into places, positions like goals disallowed, it really feels like I'm playing fucking roulette every week. But we just. We're just winning. So I thought Barsa was more or less the score line's relatively fair. I think Gu Rossi had a really tough game. He had I wanna say two solid looks where you expect him to finish a goal. So it's not to say that Barcelona was in Paris, but they also could have been up two goals within the first six. Nia gets a goal. He stole a goal off balcony Barsi off a corner where G Barsi toe tapped it and Nia was like, I'm gonna knock it off the line. And it went to a var check and he was almost offside. Lewendowsky gets two and then was able to get one late with the toe poke. And then I almost cried at then when ti was able to get five minutes of run for the team. So for nothing early on, I think this is as good as a result that Barcelona could have asked for, obviously before they head out to Doman. And just tough break. It's one of those games where I think, I think it's fair, but also I think it's a little harsh, but Dotan was, was poor. They had opportunities, but they were poor at the end of the, at the end of the day. We'll see what theirs to play for in the next run

Christian:

One thing, Barcelona's definitely gonna create chances. I mean that, that, that's not gonna, they can justify that high line. They use their defense a little bit to, to start up from the back and you

Will:

and.

Christian:

Nia and Lewandowski leading UCL as, as the top two goal scores,

Will:

Yeah, I think

Christian:

chances

Will:

is on 20 or 21 Goal Assist in this campaign. So I think he's two or three back of Ronaldo's record. And that's what's actually game played, obviously, but Hanzi flicks really unlocked the best version of him. Luman the other wing is just, I, we s summ his phrases enough, but it's just like literally, it's just. You can't do anything with them there, there's times where there's three or four guys with them and it just creates so much space and yeah, the high line and their ability to win the ball back is just you doorman never really looked comfortable. There's a couple times where they able able to break the line and they instilled the defensive intervention in the back. Had a great double kind of block in the second half. Ingo Martinez by like metric of just no mistakes. Leading the goals has been like one of the most solid defenders in the league, which is crazy considering I think his background is athletic bill B, and always known as like a solid league of defender, not known as like a world class defender. Just all things Rollings. But Barcelona, definitely, it really feels though with how they place, like they're either gonna win everything or they're gonna win nothing and it. It's exciting though, and I think they're like the most exciting team to watch in Europe currently. But we'll see how it goes next week. So those tag are gonna be reversed. So Bara Doman and PSGV will be played on Tuesday. And then Wednesday we'll get rail Madrid Arsenal and Byron enter.

Jerrell:

Very nice. Very nice. And EPL confirmed to receive the Fifth Champions League qualifier. LA Liga is looking to get the Europa

Will:

No. So that's the European performance, the SS for something, but it's pretty much the second team

Jerrell:

Performance.

Will:

stutter. Yeah. But it's just who's going? The top two based off UE is weird. Coefficient leagues get fifth qualifiers to the Champions League. So last year it was Italy and Germany. Which, yeah. Yeah. So it's something you can track and it's based on how far teams get into each tournament and how they do domestically.

Jerrell:

All right. Pretty cool. Pretty cool. Okay. out this episode. We got match day 32 preview. I'm gonna go ahead and run through that for everybody, if that is all right. We have Man City versus Crystal Palace Brighton versus Lester City. I. Nottingham Forest v Everton. Southampton's. Gonna try and get those two points against Aston Villa, arsenal and Bruford. Chelsea v Ipswich, Liverpool Westham Wolves V Spurs, mag pies verse Red Devils cherries, verse the Cottagers. then mag Pies will play again against Crystal Palace after a reschedule from Match Day 29. Any exciting matches here?

Will:

I, while you're reading the preview, I was like, I'm gonna call my shot Southampton does it? They're Bill's gonna rotate, but then I pussied out. Yeah, I was just like, I, I,

Jerrell:

do rotate South

Christian:

Bro,

Jerrell:

has a lot

Christian:

give him, give him a tie at least.

Jerrell:

Double down, get one point

Will:

south Hampton, you got it. South Hampton over Villa. They're gonna find the answer somehow. They're gonna get a point. At least, at least, at least it's high. I'm gonna slightly pussy out again, actually,

Jerrell:

Nah. Villa's going to, Villa's gonna take all three points, so they wanna make sure they stay close to the top

Will:

let's see if Nottingham Forest can hold on against Everton, right? They need, they need their points, they need to hold that lead. Got a little thinner than I'd feel comfortable with all those teams shopping on a bit.

Jerrell:

Everybody who's in contention for a European spot wants all three points,

Will:

we're gonna need it all. Yeah.

Christian:

You. So

Jerrell:

do we have

Christian:

do you feel slightly bad for Aaron Ramsdale, though? I think in the last three, four years he's been relegated three times.

Will:

Yeah, I think it's like over the last five or six. But yeah, I think it was like them burn myth and fucking don't remember west, west El could be wrong, but Yeah. I do, I do.'cause I honestly, I don't even think Ramsdale was like a bad, he, he was a good, he was there the first year when like arson was able to get back to in that top four finish. So I'm just kind of like, I do feel bad. He's I feel like he just missed the boat a little bit just'cause arts Head was looking for like a different profile. And then even when he was about to get moved that first season, he wanted to hold onto him as like a backup keeper. I feel a little bad that he's getting relegated again, but I'm sure he'll get bought up by someone. Hopefully on a, outside of the championship.

Jerrell:

I think the only match that, top of the table implication cherries and cottagers, where both teams are looking for all the points. Fulham's sitting at eighth and the cherries are at 10th. The cherries desperately need it. They, since we gave them praise when they

Will:

Since they sizzled.

Jerrell:

they, yeah.

Christian:

Huh.

Jerrell:

they sizzled, they they've, they've really fallen. They've, they've hit hard times and if they wanna. At least be competitive in this race. They need to take all three so that, that should be an interesting match. See which way it goes Full. I'm riding hot after, after beating. Liverpool. Should be a good

Will:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I also wanted to shout out, I lost it. I wanted to shout out the matchup. Crystal ball is riding hot right now. They're still in fa cup. They're playing man City at the, the odd man said he needs points. Man said he needs points.

Jerrell:

Powell is just set off. Man, man, city's losing streak last time, right?

Will:

I'll take your word for it. I, I don't have the Carfax off the top of my, but I believe you. I'm, I'm gonna take your word for it, yeah. But yeah.

Jerrell:

They're at least in that, in that like span of

Will:

If you told me before the season that one of these teams are, pla like reaching the apex of their season and hitting their best round form in April, and the other team's just middling and trying to hold on to their season. I think it's the other way around. But shout out Crystal Palace. It's a road game and stuff, but city needs it. So let's see if they can find a solution. Still have the pieces, still have the talents, still injuries, but crystal Palace has just been hot over the last few months I think that'll be an exciting one to watch before the New Castle replay.

Jerrell:

Run it back,

Will:

yeah,'cause.

Jerrell:

any matches you're excited for.

Christian:

Obviously the tractor boys are gonna take down Chelsea on the road.

Will:

Quote it again,

Christian:

watch that one. Just quote it until they actually win.

Will:

or the season ends. Yeah.

Christian:

gonna continue until next, next season, bro. They're coming back. They're not coming back.

Jerrell:

Palaces got the tie and then it set Man City on a skid for the next two, three games where they lost twice and got two more draws. I just wanted to put that out there. Sorry. Anything else? Are we ready to close you? Will you ready to give us that closing

Will:

think, I think I've ready to close you. We talked about Newcastle menu.

Jerrell:

Coffee's for

Will:

That's fine. Once again, as Christian said earlier we're on Instagram, we're on Blue Sky, we're on Twitter. I. At the Football Fellows, you can hit us up on Gmail. I check the emails, I swear to God, once in a while, the football fellows@gmail.com. Next week we're gonna dive into the UCL semis. Anyone you wanted to thank?

Jerrell:

Thank you.

Will:
