Final Stretch, UCL Qualification on the Line

Jerrell Johnson Season 1 Episode 37
Jerrell:

Episode 37 Boys, Liverpool looking like they're gonna win the Premier League. Does that sound good? Do we like that? It's looking plausible. Are we 99% there?

Will:

all

Christian:

mean, I don't like it.

Will:

to lose five straight league games for the first time since 1953. So there's a chance

Jerrell:

I.

Christian:

It's the miracle and grasp bro.

Jerrell:

The miracle at Anfield For everyone who's not Liverpool fans.

Will:

Yeah,

Christian:

Let's see there. Their remaining games are to nom Chelsea Arsenal, Brighton, crystal Palace.

Jerrell:

We'll get into it. We'll get into it. It's, it is always, as long as we have a will on the podcast, there's a way I.

Will:

One.

Jerrell:

All right, today is Wednesday. We've got a Wednesday pod, April 23rd, 2025. I'm Jarrell Christians here. Will's here. We got so much to talk about. We have socials to plug as well. The Football Fellows on Instagram, blue Sky, Twitter slash x. The website, buzzsprout.football fellows.com. Patreon is somewhere out there. We have a Gmail at football or the football fellows@gmail.com. It's crazy.

Will:

there

Jerrell:

There's so much. Maybe we might even have t-shirts. Who knows?

Will:

Merch.

Jerrell:

Merch.

Christian:

want a t-shirt.

Jerrell:

Mm-hmm.

Will:

We'll

Jerrell:

guys have any, any plugs, any shout outs? What's going on in your world?

Will:

No,

Christian:

I heard, I heard you were out. I heard you were out last week because you were trying to secure a sponsor. For this well-known club called Bangers fc.

Jerrell:

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Christian:

be

Jerrell:

Just trying to get the sponsor from Advent Health

Christian:

that'd be great. Oh,

Will:

have a plug. You have a plug? We have plugs,

Jerrell:

Plugs.

Christian:

plug, plug, plug.

Jerrell:

A lot of plugs. What's your plug? Will.

Will:

oh, I can't, I can't dox myself again. Stop.

Jerrell:

Mm-hmm.

Will:

come on, man.

Jerrell:

You don't want the docs yourself to have a plug. Bangers FC Guys, we're on the up and up. Let's get to the match day. Before we do that, actually Burnley and Leads United, they're coming back to the Premier League guys. They are confirmed through.

Will:

back.

Jerrell:

So what.

Christian:

talk promotion real quick. Relegation. Have you guys seen the social media posts from Leister City?

Jerrell:

No.

Christian:

I loved it. It was just like we have officially secured our position in the champion sleep

Jerrell:

Amazing.

Christian:

championship.

Will:

Okay. That's, that's one way to look at it.

Christian:

half full glass, half full.

Will:

know?

Jerrell:

Yeah.

Will:

Okay.

Jerrell:

I, I, I'm glad they have a sense of humor about it. Good, good for Lester. Lester City. But yeah. Bern, Leeds after one year removed from the Champions League, correct? Yes. They come back. Luton Town will not be coming back. I don't that's they, they can't come back. It's not possible.

Will:

It's like Coventry Mill, wall, Sheffield, and

Jerrell:

through three through.

Will:

Six are the playoff.

Jerrell:

or playoffs. Yep. And that'll take the last spot,

Will:

Mm-hmm.

Jerrell:

but match day 33. There were bangers. There Were draws. Will do you wanna run through it for us?

Will:

I got you. I got you. So believe it. B Brentford gets a four two win. Over Brighton Denting Brighton's. Chances for European spot. This this next season, crystal Palace. Hold on For a zero zero tie against Burn myth. Chris Richards picks up a red at the end of the first half and burn myth they are not able to capitalize on. The man down for Crystal Palace denting their chances at European qualification, man City scored two late against Everson. At Mercy side Nick Nico O'Reilly and Covid hitch Late goals push Man City and strengthen, bolster their chances of qualifying for Champions League. Westham United my fucking catfish. They give up a, they give up a equalizer in the third minute of

Jerrell:

point closer.

Will:

F. Yep. And so Southampton tied for the worst point total in history. So they won't hold it solo. They have a chance to just not be remembered, hopefully, unless you're self Hampton fan going forward. So trivia is ruined for us. Aston Villa got a huge result of Newcastle because of course, why not? I sung their praises. They give up three goals in 11 minutes in the second half. Aston Villa got a huge win trying to bolster their chances. Champions League more on them in a second. Fullham, Chelsea ends one, two. Chelsea are able to come back late. Buying goals from Tyreek George and Pedro nato, it switched town gets. Yeah, they get clocked by Arsenal. Lose four oh. Get a red card in the first half that really just sealed it. Arsenal able to get some points hoping to postpone Liverpool's championship celebrations. Manchester United lose their 15th game of the season to wolves at home. Vitor Pereira, great job. Shout out to him. When he joined the team, they were 13 points back of Manchester United. They are now level with them. From when he picked up a skipper for the Midseason Ceer city they lose to Liverpool. They clinched relegation, Liverpool also close from Clinching League. Title Spurs lose to nine hand force a game that forest desperately needed a try to remain on track for their championship. Champs League. Hopes and dreams so much champions thrown out. Manchester City. Did. On Tuesday we're able, yesterday we were able to win two one against Villa in a huge game that's could decide Some European places. Aston Villa right now sitting on the outside of Europa and Champions League as of April 23rd, A drill stated and then Arsenal. Tell me if you heard this before, Ty. Two, two gene Philippe Matata as a super sub. He gets a huge goal in the 83rd minute and leaving Liverpool a points away from being able to clinch the Premier League this year with the trip against Spurs This weekend, they're gonna be at home, so a momentous occasion for them considering their last trophy, the last Premier League they won. They was a covid season, so their supporters were not there. I'm gonna go drink some

Jerrell:

Covid season, some might say a fake season and it doesn't count.

Christian:

are we the way that we are? 13 tis fellas.

Jerrell:

ties is crazy. Second most ties in the league.

Christian:

Who's, oh, Everton got

Jerrell:

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Tied.

Christian:

they're also,

Jerrell:

Oh no. Yeah, tied for ties. Not really. Second most ties. 13. It's crazy though to have 13 ties. Yeah, exactly. 13 ties and still second.

Christian:

hard is it to score a goal in the top of the

Jerrell:

Yes. Yes.

Christian:

and the world's top league words are cool.

Will:

But being optimistic, we're also, they're also not losing in a sense, right? So wonky season injury, plague season, it's

Christian:

Tired of being a bridesmaid, bro.

Will:

coming

Christian:

be the bride.

Will:

Marry me.

Christian:

Ah, no, but shout out, I don't know if you guys were able to catch today's game. I was only able to catch half of it until work got in the way. Unfortunately, I. Shout out Ard bro. QR had a really good game. That header, that set piece, that first set piece, I don't know if you guys caught the game. It, it was just a typical arsenal set piece. They all lined up far,

Will:

professionals.

Christian:

they all lined up far opposite side from where the free kick was. And then they just saw move forward, got on sides, and KR just did a nice little header into the box. He was also pretty soft. I, I think Crystal Palace ended up having more shots on gold than Arsenal. And this still was in the first half. I think the first half it was six shouts on gold for Crystal Palace versus two of Arsenal. Ki was also playing well defensively, so shout out to him. but yeah, we tied, we tied.

Jerrell:

The story of the season.

Will:

Arsenal also slightly rotated out. I think Raheem Sterling got a start on the right side. Ogar partial, no bent White today either. But we won four, nothing against SWI on the weekend,

Jerrell:

Counts for something right

Will:

I'm a, I'm gonna take it. That was like one of the only end-to-end games we've had, like in the Premier League at least. So getting to watch that over the weekend was nice. So I'll take it,

Jerrell:

before today's. Absolute balance.

Will:

The balance, the balance is requisite, you

Jerrell:

Yes. And, and they were destined for the, for the draw today. So now they gotta go win one and then lose one and then however that shakes out at the end. At the end,

Christian:

if that's what they go for.

Jerrell:

yeah. But they can't finish. They can't finish even.

Will:

what they're going for. I promise you that's not, not the goal. They're just like, all right guys, we really need to lose today.

Jerrell:

We have to, this is where we find our strength.

Will:

Outside of that, and

Jerrell:

Very unfortunate.

Will:

Manchester City. This week they are able to get wins over Everton on the road. Goon Park, always a tough place to play, and then able to eke out a win against Aston Villa late. Both games left late but both games boling their chances to qualify for Champions League considering what they've done. Too soon to say it's clinched because they're tech, they're in third right now, game in hand. Newcastle's only two points back. Chelsea's currently four points back with a game, game to play still. How, where do you guys see, and we'll touch on it probably more in the off season. Do you think this is Man City's level going forward, or do you expect them to be back to where they were last year?

Jerrell:

I expect great things from Man City going forward. I have no idea, to be honest. They're, they're they're losing a couple pieces. They will get Roger back next season. I don't know.

Christian:

My boing door.

Jerrell:

Okay.

Will:

They lost, bro. Get over it. We don't need narratives. Jesus Christ.

Jerrell:

Air remains, air remains be seen.'cause who are they losing? Who is, whose contracts are up for Man City? Yeah.

Christian:

Apart from, I'm not quite sure who's,

Will:

more who they might try to move off of I

Christian:

yeah,

Will:

But the Broin, their look, they've been rumored, they wanna get Florian Verts out, lever Q in. I don't know how realistic that is.

Christian:

be tough.

Will:

They've looked at Gui Madre, they've looked at Morgan Rogers Gibbs, Rogers out of Fuck Me Villa.

Christian:

No.

Will:

There's a couple players that they're rumored, they're trying to find like the successor for it. Kevin de Broin kind had a kind of old fashioned performance against Villa. Yesterday with his performance, being able to mend that midfield. And he said, yeah, he was never offered, like he was never offered a contract extension, which surprising'cause considering like his status with the club. But the business, the biz. But it is just so where are we at with that 1, 1 15, the, these charges?'cause

Jerrell:

Okay.

Will:

haven't heard anything about point stock or anything. It's about to be may like I need to know if they're investing this summer or not.'cause. window opens June 1st because of Club World Cup. The competition no one asked for is happening this summer, so I, I'm worried they're gonna retool real quick.

Jerrell:

Yeah. And that's really what it comes down to, right? Like what, what the charges, are there gonna be penalties? If there are, are they gonna be significant? How does that affect the squad for next season? So it's like a, so one big question mark over man city, right? Just trying to figure out like where they can actually land and without that resolving. It's, it's hard to say. There's still gonna be a top six team. But I, I couldn't, I couldn't put them anywhere in, in that, in those six places

Will:

I am a clip that and Kelly Ola leaves and they end up outside

Jerrell:

he signed in.

Will:

year.

Jerrell:

I thought he, I thought he signed an extension.

Will:

Yeah. I don't know, people

Christian:

erase

Will:

all the time, also,

Jerrell:

but real quick, can, can you guys tell me the three teams that were in first place. Premier League

Will:

City Liverpool is a good shout Christian.

Christian:

Say

Jerrell:

more

Christian:

were the trees.

Jerrell:

Will's correct. It was Brighton week one. Match. Match day one. Brighton.

Christian:

You just went for the bees. Yeah. You just went for the,

Jerrell:

Bright Brighton, not Brent

Christian:

Wrong team. bad.

Will:

I was

Jerrell:

Dolphin.

Will:

I was just like, man, Chester Biddy.

Jerrell:

Yeah,

Will:

I remember they started strong and then they just faded a little bit throughout the season,

Jerrell:

yeah,

Christian:

the city question.

Jerrell:

Sure. I.

Christian:

They're, I feel like they're always gonna be a, a top team. I, I was just looking through the squad list and yeah. their midfield, KDB Silva, they're all relatively go by stage.

Will:

to be gone for

Christian:

Yeah.

Will:

season in a little row, but I think they actually wanna move off of him.

Christian:

Yeah. And they're, they're all pretty much 30 and above. But looking at the, what they have, James McAtee has been playing pretty well for Citi on the chances he's gone. You have. Just a great name. Oscar, Bob. Two first names. Who doesn't love that?

Jerrell:

Okay, trust them.

Christian:

the chance.

Will:

Norwegian. Yeah.

Christian:

Sino is only 21 years old. They probably should, if they can move off. Jack Relish, he hasn't really been performing, hasn't been really hitting his market price that they paid for him, but they do look like they have a, a few young pieces in the midfield, which I mean, it's really what, where they need help up Top Highline, android can't do much. Much better can you do from hotline? Mar Moosh has been a pretty solid signing. I think they got him over the January transfer window. Is the intern can double check that. I'm pretty sure it was a summer transfer window and Dokus been

Will:

You

Christian:

winter. Winter. Doku is pretty solid up top. So yeah, as long as they can reinforce that midfield, get those young folks going Man City has a chance to still contend for champions. For next, next season.

Jerrell:

Next, next season for the next two seasons, or they, they're taking a season off. They're, they're still, they're third right now. So they'll make it to champions or they, they're sitting in a spot where they can make it to Champions League right now.

Will:

That went over Villa was huge for them'cause it really

Christian:

Yeah.

Will:

of a little bit clear. Year Villa has four points back with them, with four match days left. Chelsea four points back with them as well with the, with a game in, like they still have a game to play, but. A little bit of a bumper buffer. Aston V is looking like the odd man out right now, like first out right now for a European spot, no UECL qualification. Why? Hmm. I just pay attention to standings and what they say, but I don't know if it's the fifth spot or why exactly they won't get UECL qualification. But yeah, so would be really unfortunate considering, their strong, nice showing in the Champions League and just being competitive and how they were able to retool with the Sensio and Rashford in winter as well. But, yeah. Yeah, Citi definitely, definitely need to find a way to retool that midfield. And also I wonder if Guardiola maintains just like his structure.'cause Christian mentioned, Jeremy Doku, SVIN, he has a lot of young wingers and you saw with Grish too, where it's just like they give him a rule and kind of removes the, their chance for individuality a little bit in terms of aiming for structure. Interesting problems, but fuck'em.

Jerrell:

Yeah talking about qualification for next season two, I think our race has gotten a little bit tighter. I'm gonna include Arsenal in in it because why not? I think statistically they could still fall. Fall out of Champions League if we're talking statistics, but two to seven, we're down to six teams who are looking for the last four spots. Yes.

Christian:

17.

Will:

with seven to eight points depending on how it shakes.

Jerrell:

Hmm.

Will:

no, that's a lie. What's that? 72 6 points. They qualify for your Champions League.

Jerrell:

No. Clench their spot. Six more ties. I don't, there's not enough games.

Christian:

there.

Will:

stop, stop. No, no. Unless they just win the Champions League, then you know, fuck it. It can do whatever they want in the league.

Jerrell:

True.

Christian:

Yeah. Honestly. Honestly let's talk for a little bit. They have a game in hand for Man City. They're separated by one point and they were able to not lose three in a row this time around. They got high, I don't know if you guys checked out the, the Spurs game. They scored two, their only two goals within minutes that Chris would, he had pretty solid performance during this match. But yeah, it was, it was a quick one, two from Nottingham that the caught. spurs off guard and they were fairly dominant. The Spurs coming up off of a Europa League semi-final birth going into this game, and they just couldn't catch up. They, they were able to get some kind of hope with Richard Charleson having an a, a goal in the 87th minute, but too little, too late, and not him got, got the win at the end.

Jerrell:

Yeah, not a hang, not a ham's in an interesting spot too.'cause you know they're sitting at 60 point. Points. Dropping six points definitely does not help when you're trying to make it to the Champions League. And, if you had those points back, even draws 62 points. You're sitting above man city, a little bit of a buffer, but they're, they're literally like ano one more slide away from just being knocked out. Champions League like Ashton v maybe first Team out, but they're only three points back. Chelsea's only three points back. Newcastle's one point back. I, who knows, maybe like Nottingham, they, they might sacrifice some, some play just to preserve wins and stuff like that. Just to make sure they make Champions League. Who's to say,

Christian:

they can just win on the 27th

Jerrell:

they can win on the 27th.

Christian:

fa, we have the FA cup final against Man, city trees. Semis, semis against Man City. That's gonna be a great, interesting game right there, especially since they're two and three. On the, on the

Jerrell:

Mm-hmm.

Will:

Yeah. Yeah. Fuck him

Christian:

the other side, we got Crystal Palace and Villa. That should also be a pretty solid

Jerrell:

Honestly, if I had to,

Will:

is I'm not leaving with nothing this season.

Christian:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

just looking at the list, if I had to pick like a team who just wouldn't who I don't have much faith in or I wouldn't bet on to make Champions League, it'd probably be Chelsea. They've just struggled. Cole Palmer is just not really scoring. They're not producing. They just were rode so high in the beginning of the season, and then it's just been like a crapshoot with what, what the quality is on the field. I am like much more confident in Villa Leapfrogging Chelsea and making it into Champions League. Even Newcastle probably falling, but like Chelsea's probably have, I have the least faith in Chelsea.

Will:

Yeah, so Chelsea currently sitting six. They would qualify for the Europa League currently. We'll see. It was a great comeback and you could see it really means something to these players. Shout out to them noticing like the weight and gravitas of all these fixtures. Chelsea maybe three years ago rode win against Fullham in April. Probably doesn't mean as much, but you can see that the team was really galvanized behind the Netto late strike. Able to keep them going for another week. They're gonna be seeing Everton a home fixture on Saturday. Know, sometimes those results, those late wins can propel you. We'll see. Yeah, we'll definitely see how that goes. But somewhere between, I'd probably say four mm well. Yeah, I don't want to count anyone out at this point. I don't want count anyone out. But yeah, I feel like, I feel like Newcastle, they've shown enough that I swear to God, this isn't me, just jinxing them.'cause every time I sing their praises, they fucking sell. But I feel like Newcastle, they've been looking really solid despite the result over the last match day. So I feel like it's gonna come down to like for Chelsea Villa and that, and nine ham fours coming into the season. Shout out to them once again because this is the most points they've ever had in a Premier League season. One. But two clenching your first UCL birth. Birth, sorry as well would be obviously like an amazing like Cinderella story, so we'll see. But it's all in their hands. They control their destiny. So

Jerrell:

For sure. Definitely. I wanna jump down the list a little bit. Outside of Champions League.

Will:

on Westham

Jerrell:

I wasn't gonna westham, but I was gonna

Will:

go

Jerrell:

sings

Will:

wait.

Christian:

quick

Jerrell:

I

Christian:

Chelsea.

Jerrell:

the wolves. Yeah.

Will:

Oh,

Christian:

real quick. On Chelsea, they have a hard road left. So they have random conference leak, knockout phases sprinkled. They, I think they have two, but three of their last four games are against Liverpool, Newcastle, and Forest.

Jerrell:

Jesus.

Christian:

So they definitely have a,

Will:

in their hands.

Christian:

And also the, the one I I didn't mention is Manu. I would mention it because just historically significant club, just not recently, but yeah, they have a tough road ahead.

Jerrell:

Definitely for sure.

Will:

first Christian said Manchester United, not significant.

Jerrell:

Just legacy. But yeah, wolves. Wolves is the only team with in the past five games where they've won all their games. They've collected 15 points in the past five. A team that we've just watched hang around the bottom in the re relegation zone, just. Decide you know what? We don't wanna be that team anymore. And just start rattling off wins. They're sitting at 38 points. They jumped the Spurs and westham and are now, mostly everybody's secured, but shout out to the wolves, taking that into their own hands and just be like, no, we're gonna go get those dubs.

Will:

Yeah.

Christian:

Manchester, you,

Will:

Go ahead. You go Crazy king. Sorry.

Christian:

manu iss. Interesting as why they couldn't get any, any points off this. The wolves, Jose s got injured during warmups. So like the wolves had a last second goalie replacement, neither team in the first half, they, they both struggled. They couldn't create great chances. And it wasn't until the 77 side I goal that they were able to open the deadlock, but it, it was a match, especially with a backup keeper that man, you should have taken advantage of. But shout out to the for being able to take some three points home.

Will:

efficiency. Their first shot on target, first shot on Globe, Pablos or Abbi, a free kick. Clinches, the three points. And yeah,

Christian:

All it takes is one.

Will:

what, six, seven weeks ago, they, we were talking about them as a potential relegation team and they've just been able to string along results and with the team that really looked dead in the water, like before a turn of the year. Just a great job, what they're doing over there. Get that buy-in and, give in a platform where you can hopefully build something going into next season. Yeah, shout wolves.

Jerrell:

Don't get me wrong, like the wolves did show flashes of what or how they could perform throughout the season in the beginning. Like they could get goals and they could, they could run with decent teams. And it just took, it just took till the end of the season to, to put it all together. Do the wolves finish higher than men United? Five games left.

Will:

The fact that we're even having the conversation. I think it's a, a shout out to wolves regardless. Definitely. Wolves

Christian:

Is it a shout out to wolves or is it just menu?

Will:

I'm

Jerrell:

No, I think it's, I think it's the wolves though,

Will:

Wolves, I

Jerrell:

we've, we've harped on Man United, it's like struggles all season long. I guess the more interesting thing is who finishes Higher Man United or Spurs.

Christian:

shout out. Bottom five. Bottom five. Team. Yeah, let's do it. We out here.

Will:

bottom of the table, but

Christian:

Yeah.

Will:

allegations zone. That's what I'm watching the rest of the season. Yeah, I just, just, it just feels bad down here, fF

Jerrell:

trying to get through it.

Will:

speaking of fucking Westham, as for as much as missed on fucking Nottingham Forest Westham is depressing. I think they just bottomed out tying to fucking Southampton who has been hapless all season respectfully to any Saints fans listening. But Westham United, you were supposed to be so much better. They have pieces all over the pitch and it is just kind of like, it's just been bad. It feels bad. My catfish has continues to catfish me. They have brighten on Saturday on the road, and I just, it just doesn't make sense. So shout out. Fuck Wes.

Jerrell:

At the end of the day they'll always be blowing bubbles, but yeah, very tough.

Christian:

a 93rd tie.

Jerrell:

for Westham. Heart goes out to the hammers.

Christian:

Was that a moment of silence for for westham here?

Jerrell:

Maybe for me, definitely not for will.

Christian:

Any other games you guys wanna recap?

Jerrell:

I think, I think I'm pretty straight on it. The, the, the season's, huge game for the bees to be honest. But the goal here is just maybe finishing top 10 for B Brentford. Last year they finished 15th, I believe. A game against Nottingham is gonna be tough, especially with Nottingham trying to secure the Champions League spot. We'll see what happens. But that this middle, this middle part, this eight, eight, down to 14 maybe, is just we're just out here now. They're, they're, they're confirmed to qualify and they can't make it to Europe. So

Will:

Just playing for pride now

Jerrell:

I'm just playing for pride.

Will:

move pretty much for certain guys on those teams. So

Jerrell:

Yes.

Christian:

How does award money get there? Is it just like blocks or does like that? Eight, get more reward money than nine.

Will:

you'll ask me a question once every week that I'm just like, let me get back to you next week.

Jerrell:

I didn't know. I didn't know.

Will:

it.

Jerrell:

didn't know that was a thing.

Will:

I am assuming it's based on by position.

Christian:

Sense.

Will:

but I don't know the differences from each end. So

Jerrell:

2%. Every position. Who knows? We wanna talk about Champions League. Guys, I know we talked about a little bit, but we wanna talk about matches, matchups. Yeah. All right.

Will:

excited for it.

Jerrell:

Let's go Arsenal versus PSG. This one, they're both great matchups, but I have no idea which way this one's gonna go at all. Any thoughts guys?

Christian:

I, I think both have a, a similar like flow. Both teams are gonna be a high fast scoring chance creation teams versus an amazing defense. PSG, we've talked about their midfield a couple times. They, they just have a great midfield they're able to attack. And arsenal, our back four is, is, is amazing. We got the timber MLS on the sides. Young, young kids that out there just killing it. Kid we're strongly stepped up into the position. That's gonna be an interesting game. And same thing for the Barcel. Enter game Barcel, we got their high line, but they have that high line because they can fucking hold it together. They're, they're what's the word? They're. Words very disciplined on the back line despite it being so high up. And then, you have your little Mia Ma, which, great, great, great player and he is just cre they're all just creating chances and enter. Like I mentioned last week, I think they, they have an amazing defense. I think, what was it? They only allowed two goal, two home goals all season in I think both of them have that going For them, it's gonna be strong, strong attack versus an amazing defense

Jerrell:

I thought I had a stroke'cause I didn't. I didn't know. I didn't know when you switched over to the bar, enter game.

Will:

Oh no. Christian said one take. I'm gonna give it all of it, and then

Jerrell:

I was like, arsenal, PSG. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I heard a, I'm like, wait, what the fuck?

Will:

Yeah, when, because I thought you were talking about Arsenal and PSG, you're like, yeah, both like fluid moving goal scoring attacks. I was like, arsenal gives it to me sometimes, but but yeah, no, yeah, the bang on,'cause essentially PSG obviously they forward in line. They were able to score some wild goals against Aston Villa to clinch that result, even though they showed a wobble at the end, and then Arsenal in this competition setting with the knockout over two legs. They have the platform with their defense to really assert themselves and get a result. First leg at Emirates is gonna be huge. Who's gonna give the goals? Are they, we're gonna get that triangle between Ode guard, Ben White, and Soka on the right side. Healthy. Both of these teams relatively decided in their domestic competitions. Arsenal, I know we just spoke about they have a chance to wobble out second, but they do have a little bit of a buffer. They showed a rotate today, which came to bite them in that a little bit. But PSG, same deal. They very clenched leg legal. They have a final later on, but they're also trying to chase that UCL final championship that they've been missing throughout the entirety of the ownership that they have over there. This tie to me is really gonna be like one can arsenal assert themselves. No, Thomas parte in that first leg hurts because.

Jerrell:

The yellow card.

Will:

a little thin as well. Exactly. That yellow, he got at the end of the Madrid tie. So in theory you'd want merino to drop down, but then who do you play up top? Are you looking at a false nineish? Yeah. Then you lose your depth off the bench.

Christian:

Yeah.

Will:

lined up?'cause definitely gonna be interesting and is PSG able to find goals because their forward line is amazing. So I think Arsenal needs to win this with their back line in defense. And just create some areas. But if they're able to impose themselves and control the tie of the game and kind of like let their defense have that platform, I think they'll do Okay. I'm leaning Arsenal currently despite their little wobble in the league, just because I think their defense will be able to give them a platform. But it is very close to close to call. So I think the tie at the Emirates is gonna show a lot for them.

Christian:

in five bro.

Jerrell:

Arsenal in five.

Will:

I arson one five is crazy. Waka Flocka baka Arsenal one five.

Jerrell:

Tell me about the Bara Inner.

Will:

Yeah, touching on

Jerrell:

What does Bara need to do to overcome Inners defense?

Christian:

Score more goals.

Jerrell:

Yeah.

Will:

If they score more this tie is a little bit different. It juxtaposes with the arsenal just because you see these teams are both in the middle of chasing a trouble and their fixture congestion is crazy. From end of March on usually April, more ties. Napoli can no longer get the trouble they just lost about two hours ago to AC Milan where they lost 3.0 in the second leg of their semi-final there. So there's goals, oh, I'm sorry, sorry. Answer loss to AC Milan today. They

Christian:

Ooh,

Will:

So there's goals to

Christian:

the derby.

Will:

Doing a rewatch'cause I am disgusting of the buyer and enter. One of the things that struck me is just while enter was imposing themselves in kind of game. Flow. Byron was chasing pretty much the majority of it. Byron really wasn't as clinical as you'd expect Byron to be. Hurricane we talked about the chance he missed in the first leg.

Christian:

Yeah.

Will:

was tight. They were able to score a couple goals and despite enter good track in UCL but Barcelona at the same time, they're dealing with as many fixtures. So I think I ran it up. Entered, did have played 12 games in 37 days. From March 30th to May 6th, they're looking at that as they're tied at first. Right now with Napoli as they try to win. Sara Barcelona, they have a four now four point bun bump. Madrid was able to win 1 0 2 earlier today. They're playing 13 games in 40 days. So both teams, you can see that there's some fatigue. They're trying to refine spaces to rotate. Barcelona just lost Toky. It doesn't look like he might not be available for these ties unless he's able to come back quick, so you lose. A little bit of the clinical finishing you'd like against the team with entry is gonna minimize the number of chances you have. So see. I think Barcelona, realistically, I think they need to have a strong home performance. San you saw that it gets really loud there, it gets really live. And you saw how they struggled on the road against Doman as well. Some of that might be a they thought the tie was finished winning four oh the first one, but with all the fixtures coming in Copa del Rey on Sunday, on Saturday and against Madrid. I think this first leg might give you a good idea of, thank you, Christian. A good feeling about where it goes. Even though Barcelona's been pretty much near untouchable outside of that doorman wobble, they would, they lost their first game of the year after 24. All these matches you can see, it's starting to build up. So the goal is to get through and answer's built to do that, honestly. So we'll see.

Christian:

Yeah, both teams are coming. It is gonna be tough for both teams. Like for inter Milan has that game three days before on the 27th against Roma. Hasn't officially won city. They're tied 71 points with they're tied with 71 points with Napoli.

Will:

You're doing the thing. I love you.

Christian:

So it's not like they can rest players. They, it's a, it's a game. They have to win and three days later is gonna, they're gonna go to count now and try to get more points and try to try to win that first game. Same thing like as you mentioned, bar Barza has the copilot ready match. They can't rest players. It's, it, it's a, it's a trouble watch. So both teams are gonna maybe, maybe be a little fatigued. They're not gonna be able to start most rest any of their starters. If they're trying to. trophies. So definitely a lot more riding on the Bara inner first game than Arsenal PSGI don't. Arsenal and PSG don't have really anything else to play for coming up. Nothing that really matters.

Jerrell:

No.

Will:

rotate. Arsenal needs tolin, those points, but they have a couple chances and like some weaker fixtures. But in PSG they have their final late and the, these two results'cause their leagues are already crunched versus Yeah. Bars to enter every game

Christian:

Yeah.

Will:

I was hoping Madrid would drop something just so we can have a little bit of a, just Hey, we can rotate out a game, but no, absolutely not. Obviously I'm gonna lean barley because I'm biased, but see, we'll see how fluid they look and attack with no Lewandowsky, fer Torres probably starting Fathy. Started a game on Tuesday. Almost cried. But yeah Copa Delray probably might have a chance to really define the season,

Christian:

for sure. I think Barcelona, I know you're more of just don't call it yet. There's still two seconds left to play, but no bar. I

Will:

Yeah.

Christian:

bar Bara got, got the Laga, they, they won it. Hopefully, we can walk out with a trophy,

Will:

We

Christian:

but on Sunday.

Will:

have you guys. On the 11th or 10th that weekend, and then I think we closed out society that away and then Bill Bow at home. So it's, I don't, it's not done at all.'cause you, you've seen it before where a team gets a bad result, let's say in a Copa dore, let's say we lose or in the U Cs, and then it kind of like puts a fog or a haze over the rest of the season, especially with the, the injuries we're starting to see and just guys tired or there. Hopefully with tougher opposition coming up, they're able to hit the levels that we've seen them throughout the year. But I think this tie is a little bit more dynamic in what I'm looking for just'cause I think it's who's gonna impose Arsenal. PSG is can arsenal score goals'cause and can

Jerrell:

Only in the Champions League.

Will:

can their midfield still dic to dictate and can they show the composure that they showed against Madrid. So same thing with PSG. PSG was able to do it at infield, belt sides are in, are, are wildly interesting, but each one's a coin flip it feels like. So we'll see.

Jerrell:

Very nice. Any anything else about our Champions League corner?

Will:

May 31st catch me watching Arsenal Barcelona and just crying for 90 minutes.

Jerrell:

I'm gonna stitch both jerseys together.

Will:

I'm just like, no, no, no.

Christian:

May 31st.

Jerrell:

May 31st

Christian:

anything

Jerrell:

and

Christian:

that's.

Will:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

All right. With nothing else, I'll go ahead and do our previews and start closing this out.

Will:

yes, please.

Jerrell:

right, so FA Cup is coming up too. On the 26th. I believe that's Saturday. Yes. Crystal Palace will take on Villa and Forrest will take on Manc City in the FA Cup semifinals. Obviously, the winners of those will go to the finals and we'll have that date later. Or you could Google it totally up to you. But match day 34, preview, got some games going on. We've got Chelsea v Everton, Brighton in Westham. Newcastle lip switch South is gonna try and get that point. Maybe three points against Fulham. We'll see what happens. Wolves and Lester City, will wolves continue their winning ways. Cherries, verse Man, United, Liverpool, and Spurs. If Liverpool wins, I do. They just need the draw. They just need the point.

Will:

One point.

Jerrell:

They just need the point to get the title. We'll see what happens. It spurs play spoiler. I doubt it, but we'll see. Nottingham verse Brentford, and that will be on May 1st. Any games? Catch your guys' eyes. Maybe the Liverpool one.

Christian:

game.

Jerrell:

Which one?

Christian:

We're just gonna hate watch the Liverpool game.

Jerrell:

Sure. Yeah. I I have no ill will towards Liverpool. They've, they earned it this season, so

Will:

done the job.

Jerrell:

Yeah.

Will:

but Liverpool will be good. Chelsea as Jerrell mentioned on the wobble, let's see if they can get something. And then

Christian:

Don't need that, that result.

Will:

it, let's see that New Castle Whips switch game too. See if Ipswich can shake things

Christian:

I.

Will:

a little

Jerrell:

I think if this,

Will:

on, fuck

Jerrell:

or it was Lester City maybe. Yeah, Lester City is just there for fun now. They've already announced them clinching champions, the championship spot, so I don't think anything's really gonna come outta that game.

Will:

Yeah, if you don't have a game to watch though, watch a Liverpool.'cause you're gonna get to, to see that, potentially see that crowd celebrate a Premier League title like properly.

Christian:

Yeah.

Will:

be a nice moment at own That Anfield.

Jerrell:

fans with the actual parade.

Wind down. Whoa. All right guys.

Christian:

your rope league next week,

Jerrell:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Christian:

since we got two Premier League teams in there.

Jerrell:

Tottenham and United, they still have something to play for.

Will:

They said tying him has a chance to win a trophy with their worst team in recent memory. And that hurt me.

Jerrell:

I hate it.

Will:

shit's crazy, man.

Christian:

Yeah.

Jerrell:

You could say the same for United, right?

Will:

They, they won every hiccup cup last year at

Jerrell:

That is true. But is this team, is this team worse than last year's team? Yes.

Will:

gonna say they're more injury riddled this year,

Jerrell:

hearing worse.

Will:

we'll, we'll, we'll dive into it more. I, it still doesn't make sense that they didn't, if they were gonna do Ammar m they didn't give them a preseason, but whatever.

Jerrell:

Alright. Till next week guys. Peace.

Christian:

Yes.
