Episode four, season two guys. We're well on our way in the Premier League and other things are happening too. Today is August 28th. It's Thursday, it's 2025. It's all out of order. I'm Jarre here. Christian's here. We're gonna run through a lot of stuff. We've got transfer news, we've got Europa, we got draws, we got Match day two.
Will:My boy said we got draws. I like the energy.
Christian:We got winners, we got losers, we got draws.
Jerrell:previews got winners, losers got everything. How's everybody doing?
Will:Good, good, good, good. The soccer never
Christian:The food spot never stops. Yeah, I'm, I coughed out too much, so I'm ready for this. Gonna say some dumb shit per huge. Here we go.
Jerrell:Just, I'll just clip it.
Will:I'm excited for Jarre to just start us off with the Ports Ville south End game over the weekend.
Jerrell:I got news for you. No. But tomorrow we'll have the Europa League and Conference League draw. It'll be on Paramount. Plus tune in to see what group Crystal Palace winds up in and continues their European
Christian:as long as Dean Henderson keeps his hat on, bro.
Jerrell:He hasn't been wearing
Christian:Obviously
Jerrell:But it's still winning. Still winning. We got transfer news, transfer window's almost over. That window will close on September 1st, but until then, we still have a couple more transfers. Will, what do you got for us?
Will:Whew. So this is just the up busted down wheel, not the first time I've heard that from you. Renado Vega. He got moved from Chelsea to Villa Rail as Chelsea continues to try to shorten their squad up. They sell him for 30 million euros. Ruben Diaz gets a new four year deal with Manchester City. Luis is back. The Enthu experience, experi experiment didn't really work out too well for him. He's gonna be joining Ingham Forest on a loan and there's gonna be a 30 million euro option for him to stay permanently after the season. We saw some movement from wolves over the weekend. A lot Rei, he plays midfield and center back. He's gonna be moving from gerona to wolves for 35 million euros. Fabio Silva failed a strike your experiment. He's gonna be headed to Bruce Doman for what a deal that could end up being 26 and a half million euros. Arsenal, they're in the market looking to get Ero off of Leverkusen. Seeing him as a market opportunity that's looking to maybe be finalized. I think Friday, tomorrow will be a crucial day to see if that goes. If he comes in, yeah. Ka Kiwi yours, most likely he is gonna be going to Porto or Milan's been coming up lately. Nicholas Jackson off the top of my head, he has an agreement in place to go to Byron that deal's looking to be finalized. And Ku Christopher and Ku, he's moving from Chelsea to AC Milan for 42 million euros. Mattos Fernandez, he's moving from Southampton to Westham. Hammers aren't giving up on the season yet for a deal that could be 41 million pounds. Biggest thing that happened recently in, in light of our Esoc watch. Vol he is, he plays for Stok Guard, Stryker. was heavily linked with Byron, but Stuttgart wasn't looking to move. He just made a move to Newcastle for 85 million Euros. With also a chance for more on add-ons to him. So now that Esoc door is suddenly open for Liverpool, they'll have to offer more than. Was it that one 20 bid but the door's not firmly shut with Esoc. Got caught up to the Swedish national team for the upcoming international break. So he is healthy. He said he's not playing, so we might have a resolution for an exciting deadline day transfer. And that is all I have for the time being freedom free at last.
Jerrell:With those recent sales, Chelsea moves up to. Most sales in the summer window. Not maybe most sales per player, but 276
Christian:They had 87 players on their roster.
Jerrell:Yeah. Yeah. They,
Will:it's not easy to sell guys. It's not To sell. Arsenal hasn't sold
Jerrell:they, they sold, they sold slash L 19 players. They brought in 23, so they had a net gain,
Christian:funny.
Jerrell:On the, on that front. Second team was Bourmouth, actually Bourmouth bringing in 237 million pounds. Actually, surprising to see.
Christian:I'm so used to,
Jerrell:at least Bournemouth made
Christian:I'm so used to midfield being labeled as CMS cam or CDM. So I thought you were calling Eshi in the docket as mid, he's like a mid center back. I was like, whoa, whoa. We haven't even seen him play, bro.
Will:And note there was a slash I
Christian:Yeah.
Will:be so disrespectful.
Christian:Unless he's playing for Todd.
Jerrell:a three center back set. Cool. Cool. Good deal. Good deal. We had Euro Europa Conference, playoffs, crystal palace's, first ever European tournament. They had their playoff winner gets into the group stage. Crystal Palace played at home, sell Hearst Park. Matea scored for Europe or scored for Crystal Palace, first European Goal four.
Will:Fuck you,
Jerrell:Or Europe. Yeah, for Europe and France. He scored. Puts them ahead 1 0 1 aggregate. They traveled to Norway today, and it was a zero zero
Christian:Shit cp.
Jerrell:Yeah, so CP is moving on. Europe is still
Christian:I need them to win a third trophy so I can call'em CP three
Jerrell:CP three
Christian:Basketball reference for our non basketball listeners.
Will:Happy 2K release day guys. It's
Jerrell:Oh, that's, that's today.
Christian:Look out.
Will:technically, but by the time they're listening to this, the fucking bangers fc pickup squad on 2K,
Jerrell:No.
Will:that on our socials social plug. We missed that. We are the football fellows at. X, I'm sorry, Twitter. On Instagram we have a website. Football fellas.com. Yes. Drill. Thank you for setting that up. No Buzz Prout don't need them. We do need them. I'm taking it back. We have an email, the football fellas@gmail.com. Send us an email our way and we might send you a picture back with Christian Left Nipple. I'm missing something, right?
Jerrell:No, I think you're good.
Will:Blue Sky's there. Yeah. Yeah. Football fellas. Look us up. Look us up. And if you see some other cowards that aren't us, fuck'em. Not literally, but
Jerrell:They're not real.
Will:I'm locked in today guys. No fatigue today.
Jerrell:Tristan, you wanna give us the match Day two
Christian:Let's do it. All right. So be alright. Match.
Will:He said yes, however
Christian:No,
Will:he said yes, I do, but let's talk about
Christian:no, no, no, no, no. OO off camera I guess, but yeah, match day two review. Started off Hot Polle with Chelsea Pudding in five goals against Westham. We got Man City losing to Tottenham at home. Two zero Bemo. The cherries one zero against Wolver Hampton Burnley. The, the, the game everybody was waiting for. Burnley versus Sunderland. Burnley scored two Mexican Twitter was not happy. We're still, we're Mexican. Twitter is still there. There's still support. Sunderland,
Will:they exist, as Christian said
Christian:Let's see. Ooh, the chair. We, not the chair, I'm sorry. The
Will:young MA referenced. Ooh,
Christian:the bees beat the villains, the bricked up bees versus the bricked up villains One zero. I'm, I'm, I'm still gonna try to get that for the rest of the season. Arsenal, it was a big
Will:Everybody bricked up the season.
Christian:arson. O is a big game for Yokota hair beats five zero leads, crystal Palace and the tricky trees. It won a piece. Everton Beats Brighton, two zero Fullham tied against Manu. It was beautiful. I love seeing Manu Twitter after a loss slash tie that they should have won.
Jerrell:You should, man. You read it.
Will:More on that soon.
Christian:then we got Newcastle losing. Oh no, this is backwards. Liverpool beating Newcastle. Three, two.
Will:We were testing you.
Christian:I knew my games.
Jerrell:He watched the game. He watched the game.
Christian:Dock. It was wrong fellas.
Jerrell:no, not the docket.
Will:There's only one place for us to start, right?
Jerrell:Yeah. Westham and Chelsea.
Will:Oh, alright. Fine Drill. You win this time.
Jerrell:Westham, I don't know. You thought it was gonna be competitive for a minute. PTA with this, a huge strike from what? 25 yards out. Beautiful. Lovely. It was great. I was like, wow, Westham, you might do it. Chelsea had other plans. Five goals, five different players. They were just like, yeah, the westham still can't score. They did get one disallowed on an offside, very close offsides. It. They could have been two, one Westham at one point, but not to be westham still, negative seven, goal differential. It's, it's looking really rough for them.
Christian:it was a scary start for Chelsea. Cole Palmer hopped off in pre-game warmups with an injury that gave Esteve the sixth. 17, 18-year-old. The young man, the young man. 18. There it is. A start. They moved. They moved Pedro into the number 10 role and it was a scary start because Cole Palmer being out. Chelsea always questions on being too relied on Cole Palmer, and they conceded the first school within 10 minutes. Shout out to Chelsea for bouncing back and just destroying them. Destroying them. Five, five goals. Westham actually got booed off in, in the half, so not a great start. Not a great start for Westham.
Will:Yeah. All of Chelsea's goals coming from out wide, whether corners or crosses. Pretty much west Ham after two match days. Negative seven goal differential.
Christian:Mm.
Will:love to see it Hmm. I'm over them.
Jerrell:Unless you're a hammer,
Christian:They've only won two games, two Premier League games since February, so
Jerrell:that's
Christian:great.
Will:They had the whole summer off,
Jerrell:that's
Will:had a little bit of a surprise just in the, depending who you ask, spurs are able to take a two oh win over city on the road.
Jerrell:definitely depending who you ask, because I think Pep has lost seven times to the Spurs. So yeah, toss up. But. That was an interesting one to watch. John Stone, slipping in a buildup, allowing Rich Charleson to assist the Brendan Johnson busted it open and then James Rafford just
Will:the
Jerrell:look looking, looking a little scared out there and also had a bad pass. Lazy pass really led to another Tottenham score. No, no Edison in this one.
Christian:Was battling a flu. He was a little sicky sick. He was getting a decision. He was available to play for this game, but pep to.
Jerrell:Abundance of caution.
Will:he's been rumored on the outs for a while and that Donna rumor deal they were looking to fix right there. He's a little sick. He's a little he might be, he's been on the outs I feel like for almost 18 months where he is been rumored he is gonna go like Saudi or
Christian:Yeah.
Will:So I'm gonna check on that
Christian:But yeah, spurs got five goals in the first two games, zero conceited, strong start from the Spurs. Their only problem is that they are shit. They're, they're the,
Jerrell:Oh,
Christian:they're their team. But this is a, a great start for the Spurs. They're new. Their new players were involved heavily in this win with Bina on loan and Gurus, which they spent, I think it was around 75 mil. So shout out to the new additions. Playing a big role in this one.
Jerrell:Yeah, ton.
Will:money and I think they're rumored also to be in on Javi Simons out of light Zig as well. So watch out for that. They're looking to fill up, the space they miss out on as they're still looking to bring in reinforcement for that forward line.
Jerrell:man. City definitely looked flat in this game, but shout out to Tandem for just taking advantage of that and finding their opportunities.
Christian:He also had a pretty solid goal goal game. He saved the goal point, blink. Range from Mar Moosh so it could have man City definitely had their chances, but shut out. We glad you also had a pretty soggy game.
Jerrell:Absolutely. did not catch the next two that we're gonna talk about.'Cause Brentford was on at the same time. But yeah. Bournemouth's one zero. Same story with Westham. The wolves are just. Really struggling at the start of this season. Were you guys able to catch this one?
Will:Sometimes you just need to go up early at. Home drill and then you hold on for the three points. Marcus
Jerrell:Hold on. Hold on for dear life.
Will:he was able to get a goal early and then to Gomme. Goms in the second half, picks up a red. So burn myth I mean there was moments for wolves at points, but relatively comfortable one out, oh, at home in a much deserved three
Christian:Yeah, this could have been a bigger differential. And the scoreline cherries did have a few more chances that they weren't clinical about, and it's tough for the wolves. They were rattling relegation last season. It looks like it's, they're heading in that same direction. And they're struggling with injuries. And now with that new red card, they're also suspension. Tough to be wolves fan, but gotta keep chugging along.
Jerrell:Yeah, yeah. Westham did lose to the wolves in the CarVal cup, which we'll talk about a little bit later. But have you guys back more westham or the wolves?
Will:I'll let you know in two weeks. Burnley. Sunland ended up being two oh fucking up. A parlay that I had set up for this weekend through Phil on my proxy burn. Why is that
Jerrell:Proxy, Phil.
Will:Yeah. Burnley they were able to get two second half goals. And Cinder Lynn chased the game, couldn't, couldn't find the back of the net. Burnley gets their first three points of the season
Christian:Did we jinx them?
Jerrell:teams got
Christian:Did we jinx them?
Will:I, I saw a vision for Cinder Lynn, but I also should have recognized that barely finished 24 points above them last year in the championship.
Christian:It was
Will:here we go. We move forward.
Christian:Last, last week when I, I forgot who it was. Someone mentioned that it's, there's only been three teams that won their first two games after being promotion promoted forgot who mentioned it, but unfortunately that might've been the jinx that caught Sunderland the win. But yeah, shout out to the new promoted teams. Last year. It took until October for one of the new promoted teams to finally win a game this year, two weeks. And all three have already claimed to win. So
Jerrell:They said we could do
Christian:shout out to promoted teams this year.
Will:Oh, 36 more match day, so to say that. So we'll see. But yeah, three points early on is a good start. we're not on they, everyone passes 11 points sooner than later this year. I'm not trying to watch that for the rest of the season. Outside of that drill, you wanna talk about something, some, something break up.
Jerrell:Yeah, the Bees Brentford host the villains and I was stressing'cause I was just like, oh shit, it's Aston Vlo. Brentford wasn't able to have a really good defense in the first, first week. I was very concerned about this one, seeing which way it goes. Hey, they got the goal. They won. New signing, Dongo. Al Tara, I don't know.
Will:out.
Jerrell:Yeah, there you go. Opens up his bank account at Brent Brentford. I think he is a 46 million signing. So good to
Christian:Did you say he opened up his bank account?
Jerrell:yeah. Brentford. Yeah. Yep. Got the goal.
Will:he's a new Brian.
Jerrell:Doms guard also almost had a goal that was disallowed. He interfered with Nathan Collins interfered with the keeper on that one, so they called that one back. So Brentford could have gone up two zero second half we're just parking the bus. Boys, we just parked the hive right there on the goal line. Nobody was getting in. And that was, that was super stressful, especially those last 15 minutes when National Bill was like, you know what? We actually probably should
Christian:You could say they swarmed the ball'Cause they're bees.
Jerrell:did swarm. Michael Oliver was the fourth official for that game. I thought that was funny. So he was holding up the board telling me how much stoppage time there was left. But
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:I think the bees got a little, they got their goal and they defended it. So
Will:at home, you just gotta get your goal, hold onto your ankles and pray for your ass.
Jerrell:that's it.
Will:no. Yeah, tough start to the season For the villains they had 17 shots taken against the bees on the road. Good amount of mouth control, about three quarters of possession. Some of that as drill mentioned, is just like the game script. Brentford grabbed their lead maybe saw that there a little bit lighter. Man for man. And we're able to hold on and just keep another clean sheet Aston Villa. Alarm bells sounding a little bit. You go two weeks, no goals. You're starting zero points to start the season. But Brentford great win for them considering the upheaval and change they're looking at and how hapless they looked last week.
Jerrell:one point. What's the difference?
Christian:To one point.
Jerrell:What about you, Christian? I think they, they drew last week.
Christian:Yeah.
Will:zero zero draw my fault.
Christian:Speaking of trust.
Jerrell:And then. Now what? What draws This one's a five. Oh.
Will:Christian threw his out for his favorite striker in the Premier League. Victor Kore is with a brace. Jian Timber has a brace as well. Arsenal Rules five oh. At the Emirates over leads. I don't have much to add onto this. I'm outside of, odegaard picked up a shoulder injury early on in Saka. Also looked like he picked up a mu muscle injury, like a hamstring injury. So we'll see if they're available for this Sunday against Liverpool.
Jerrell:I think will be.
Will:Yeah, I don't, I don't, I don't think honestly either. But considering that first week was a little weird against Manchester United. Good result at home against leads United that was able to, to try to show something for about 20 minutes, 30 minutes. But once the kind of dam opened, it was, it was, it was all, it was all red in North London.
Jerrell:Up to the point Leads was unbeaten in 11 matches, and then they ran into Arsenal. Yeah. Also, and their only real chance really k came from the corner where they had had a nice header, but RA's reactions, yeah, it went right above'em. But the reaction speed for that one was, I was like, oh shit. Okay. I was just counting. The gold differentials is to be, to be put ahead of Tottenham, top of the table, which something Arsenal did not do last
Christian:Little bit of.
Jerrell:So for one, for one weeks, we got one
Christian:A little bit of deja vu as far as injuries. I think last year we struggled with injuries to sock out or guard and Kai Habs. Now we are having the same issue again this year. Thankfully this year we at least have some backup. We got Isaiah that can fill in some of that role. We have Yodi finally picking up steam. And then we still have the youngsters when Ari has shown that he's a solid player. And we also have the emergence of Bowman, so we do have.
Jerrell:Du Duka had a really good game. It is leads, but he had a really good game going from the left and then having to move to the right to play soccer. I, he, I think right, is his, is his natural position, but he slotted really well on both sides of the field.
Christian:Good
Will:You
Jerrell:Yeah, that, that
Christian:need it,
Will:of dynamism. Oh, my fault.
Christian:Just saying. Yeah. It's a good thing we have death this season because we actually, we once again need it.
Will:Oh, I'll, I'll say on the flip side that none of the injuries Kai Averts had his surgery. He, it is looking like more like weeks versus months. Same thing, aka it's not like AKA's gonna be missing for three, four months. Ode guard, he came out early, but I don't, it's a shoulder knock. So hopefully we're not missing him for a long period of time. Not ideal with the upcoming weekend, but hey, it's before the first international break. You get your rest in and get prepared for like the full run of the season. But yeah, definitely more death que shows more dynamism on those wings. Him being able to play on both sides. He had a good showing. He was able to get some applause from the home in his Emirates Day route, be you, which is big considering just a lot of haters over the off season about that deal being done first. Good show for him. Good show from Peace. Kafi had a good game year in temper. Two goals as well. Braces off the corner yeah, good all around for Arsenal.
Jerrell:We had, and the Everton Brighton shut down first game at Hill Dickinson Stadium for Everton, and it was one for the history books.
Christian:Did we skip Palace Game?
Jerrell:had no, it's, it's after this, did I have, do I, I might have my notes back.
Christian:Yeah.
Will:doc, but it's not a, it's okay. We'll get there.
Jerrell:Grish had two goal contributions to assist, so that's huge. Pickford blocks a penalty. Good game. Good game for Everton. Honestly, Brian just looked a little flat but the script demanded a home win in your brand new stadium.
Will:Get the trivia out. Have it ready first goal score at Hill Dickinson Stadium in 23rd minute. So have that ready for our EPL trivia night. We're gonna do a Thursday trivia night later in the season.
Jerrell:James Gardner has a super nice gold too in the second half. It's really good.
Will:And Molly bushel's proud.
Christian:Shout out to her toffees.
Jerrell:Do you wanna talk about the which one did I skip? The Crystal Palace non enforce Christian.
Christian:Not much to say. It's a one, one draw. Shout out to both teams are still undefeated. To start off, it's only granted it's only been two weeks. I think we have, nor the trees are sitting fourth, right? They're still in the top of the table, if I'm not mistaken.
Jerrell:If you go to the Football Fellow's website, you will see that the non enforce is
Christian:ah, top five, top five, top top, top five.
Jerrell:Top five.
Christian:But yeah, just another draw. Solid game, crystal Palace. Pretty good game. I think both. Goals were within 20 minutes of each other. One was the first half, one was in second half, but shout out to sar, crystal Powell showing that they could still play some balls still. Hang in there even with after Isaiah's gone. So shout out to that.
Will:Yeah, I feel like while there's a game played on the field, a lot of the noise right now with these two teams is off the pitch with the issues with the Santo nine four suspicious. Go ahead Joe. Go off.
Jerrell:They brought up the complaint of why they couldn't compete in the Europa League, so
Will:I
Jerrell:they filed it.
Will:I mean at that ESP Santo, he guided them to like their best season ever. It looks like he's fell off with their owner Makis or Marinakis, I'm sorry, I'm fucking that up. Olympiacos owner as well. Lot of rumblings about him being fired. That's with, arsenal's former, transfer director there, I forgot his name off of the top of my head. He's been, but butting heads with him. So Ingham force, despite probably the most prevalent they've been in a while maybe looking at a new coach as just things have fallen apart over there. And Crystal Palace, of course, Oliver Glasner leading them to, their first trophies and whatnot. Now looking at the fact it's like, Hey, I keep on losing guys. Mark Gay. He still might be out as Hs left. And just looking for investment and just saying, Hey we're not playing Europe, but we're still in Europe. We need reinforcement depth. So a lot of the stories with these two teams have been off the pitch. So a one, one result probably not the most important thing that's gonna happen for them over the next I don't know, I guess rest of the transfer window and going forward. So we'll see how it goes.
Jerrell:Definitely Fullham Man United. So Manu Reuben Immerman comes into this game saying we played a good game against Arsenal. We could beat any team in the Premier League. They can't beat Arsenal and they can't beat Fullham. So one, one Draw United took the lead on an own goal. Off of a weird push, so say what you want. But they, they did go up one. Oh, and then super sub ESR ties the game. I forget the minute. I think it was like the 73rd. There it is. And Fulham get the draw against. And Ailing Man, United, I don't know. They spend a lot of money on your forwards.
Will:Sometimes you need a little bit a little while to get it all together. I know we're probably gonna touch more on Manchester, United in a little bit given the bigger, this, this was not the worst thing that happened this week to Manchester United. So we can get, dive a little bit deeper into just like. What's going on over there in a bit. But shout fullham. Two, two straight weeks. They're down down in gold. They get, are able to turn around and hold on for a point. Hopefully that gives'em a platform to make a little bit more noise going forward. Yeah, we'll, we'll see.
Jerrell:And then jumping down to, Newcastle, Liverpool, who was cheering on who's, was cheering on Newcastle for this one, because I definitely was
Will:Newcastle playing really fucking well in this one, but
Jerrell:Oh yeah.
Will:Jesus Christ. Yeah, they lost a battle. They might have lost a fucking war too, on the fucking way, but what a fucking great game. Liverpool against maybe the run of play, they go up one. Oh, Anthony Gordon, a little too amped up trying to make too much of a play. He gets a red on Virgil Van Dyke on in Liverpool's. Half right before the half.
Jerrell:I thought it was.
Will:yeah. Then Liverpool get another goal. They go up 2.0 and down to Mante. They're just like, fuck it. We're playing at home. Mac's able to get two goals and level it by the 88th minute. For who had this on their Bingo card Real. I'm gonna fuck up your name and the fucking 99th minute is able to score a game winner with the last kick of the game on the road for a debut. Yeah. fuck New Castle. You tread your best, but yeah. I'm gonna borrow drum Liverpool. I guess it's just inevitable this week, but what a fight by Newcastle.
Christian:16
Will:showing
Christian:bro.
Will:Yeah. But then outside of just losing the points, they also have to deal with. So Anthony Gordon's out the next three games. Sandra Ali picked up an arm injury. He had to get sub Bruno Gui Madre. He picks up a growing injury. Fabi and Shar, he has a concussion. So you have four starters who are out against leads next week and you're looking at Europe going forward. They just did get Nick Tama, which will be big for them. They're trying to keep investment going, but. fucking week for Newcastle, given the fight that they showed. Yeah, no, I've been one to say fuck'em. Good on them. Good on them. Good.
Christian:Yeah. And, Hmm, I'm just gonna call him Rio. Rio turns 17 tomorrow. Shout out to Rio's early birthday. I could do three letters,
Will:I'm over here in my head, just like, why didn't I do that? Jesus Christ.
Christian:but yeah. What a, what a dream debut. For, for the 16-year-old, just scoring at the last second. Saw it on his half end, happy yearly birthday.
Jerrell:Definitely, yeah. And yeah, I don't know. Liverpool, they go up two zero At halftime they have a one man advantage, then you can see twice in the second half. It just they keep letting teams back in. That very much could have. They, they should have won two. Oh, they should. New Castle shouldn't have come back, but they did and they, they eed it out and they got the win.'cause that's what champions do. But Liverpool's Defense has been looking suspect like since the Community shield honestly. So something to, they get an excuse because they are champions. But something to like, maybe it could be exploited. Come Arsenal in in a couple days. We'll see.
Will:Darrell's play the X-Files music after that draw. I, I noticed the seeds you've been planting since that
Jerrell:Yeah.
Will:so we'll see 36 more match weeks for the Premier League. So we'll see how that goes. Yeah.
Jerrell:Yeah. Yep. Yep. got time to fix it. Care about Cup happened. I don't wanna go like too much into it, just focus on the Premier League teams. But Westham they did loose to wolves. Bourmouth loss to Brentford. Those were the Premier League matchups that week. Sutherland loses to League one side hunters field in Pence hunters Field's. Sponsor is Spud Bros. So I thought that was pretty funny. Yeah, that. Lead's also lost to champ side. Sheffield Wednesday also in pens. Leach did not make a pen penalty. They, they either got blocked or they missed. Sheffield Wednesday are moving on. And then the one that everybody's talking about, United getting eliminated by League two, side Grimsby town 1211 on pens. That game was. to watch, especially if you were tuning into Man United Reddit where everybody was just in shambles and were just funny people everywhere.
Christian:I did not catch any of the Karaba games.
Will:No, that's crazy.
Jerrell:That's fair. We're a Premier League podcast. That's,
Will:We are a football. I'm kidding. We don't have to do this again.
Christian:Yeah, I just my one, my cousin is a heavy Manu fan and he, he's going through it and it's, it's, it's pretty great after him talking all that shit about how Manu played Better than Arsenal in the opener. I'm just here just ah, yes, yes.
Will:That's crazy. so
Jerrell:yeah,
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:Yeah. The big, the big talking point is Man United, of course, in, in this
Will:I
Jerrell:round.
Will:of the day, it's just kinda like, how much of this do you put on Amaroon? How much do you put on the field?'cause at the end of the day, it's just like you're talking about players in fourth division football. Who have probably have part-time jobs. This is not like their only focus versus all these Manchester United guys. Outside of the money spent on the front line, I'm willing to like seed like, Hey, sometimes you need time to get things going, but just you shouldn't be losing in your man to demand matchups the end of the day. It's not
Jerrell:No.
Will:a tactic. Things at the end of the day, being down two. Oh is insane. And you get to penalties. Yeah. Shit just happens. It's almost a coin flip at times, but being down two oh and not, not just grabbing this by the neck and just taking, like taking over, building off of, even though they lost against Arsenal, they played pretty well against Arsenal just. Yeah, the vibes are terrible. And I understand people are just kind of like, oh, Ammar M needs to go.'cause the, at what point is it the players though? I think his tactics is weird. He's like really sticking to this 3, 4, 3. You have complaints about Kao not being able to play. He is not putting him with Bruno Fernan in the Middlefield. So it's like a casimiro forand mid. And it's just like they're not getting going in attack. They're getting week to week, typically over the last couple years to over in, in the midfield. So at what point do you move away? Because now it's just if you move off of this guy, you now just spent all this money bringing in players to fit his system. And then your new manager might not want these players. So it just feels like we're stuck in this vicious loop on a down the hill that they should have gotten rid of 10 heck after they won FA cup two years ago. To give him a full preseason to see what's really going on. I feel I'm not a Manchester United fan, so I don't have skin in it, but I feel like you have to let this ride till December one way or another.'cause you're three games into what was a crazy investment on like just front three by itself. It's just weird. I feel like it has to be like some type of at some point, yeah. I mean you don't wanna just blame the players and I think maybe Amm, outside of his tactics, he needs to focus on winning players over and having them fight. But at some point you just have to have professional pride because Manchester United losing to Grimsby Town and Kara be Cup that like as Arsenal feels, we chose we didn't even get to, we didn't even join the competition yet. Like you, that's fucking crazy.
Jerrell:And. Man United is the first time they've even bounced. From the first round they've entered the competition is the first time they've lost to a league two sides. So it's ac, they're not even accolades, it's things you just don't want to be known for. But every week with Man United, it always seems like a new issue, like creeps. They make a New ex, not necessarily Man United, but just like the pundits on the desk and everything. They make new excuses for Men United as to why they're not clicking. But in the Gson game, it was just like a perfect storm of everything that everyone has complained about. Just fucking happened right there. so I know the day before when they were talking about the match somebody on Glaso network was like, oh, men United, normally, like you wouldn't, you wanna put a lot, lot of pressure on this game. It doesn't matter. But like you have one, one point in two games, you have not scored your own goal. You have not scored a goal in Premier League outside the own goal. Like you have to win this game. You have to like, it needs to be like a five oh result. And it just didn't happen. They worked down two zero at halftime. Again. You bring in 200 million on forwards who aren't meshing. Cisco is the 10th penalty taker. So I know there are questions on that too where they're like, how are you gonna pay this 99 million for this guy and he's gonna be your 10th penalty taker in the shootout. What's going on there? Does he not have the confidence? What's happening? Ameren, you've seen it hiding in the corner while penalties are being done. He's on his tactic board that that's been meme to death already. It's, I don't think you sack him.
Will:I'm
Jerrell:it's gotta get better.
Will:he was on the tactic board, it was two nothing. After he got on that
Jerrell:No, no. Yeah.
Will:Two. So I'm
Jerrell:No.
Will:know, everyone's
Jerrell:You right.
Will:I was like, I, I know it's like a funny meme, but i'm still stuck on just say, say what you want tactic wise in week to week. Okay, I'll talk about it like Premier League, where I think they're probably the best coaches in the world. But you're playing Grimsby fucking town, bro.
Jerrell:Yeah.
Will:I, I'm just kinda in shout at the end of the day, shout out Grimsby Town because they went up
Jerrell:Absolutely.
Will:they saw an opportunity to do something big and blowing the lead tutu. They could have easily folded and yeah, they were able to get, get it, get it done at the end of the day. Yeah, I'm sure we'll talk more about Manchester United shortly, but then the vibes continue not to be cool out there to go
Jerrell:I didn't know. I didn't know Harry McGuire's nickname was Slab Head, and I owe that to Reddit for telling me that.
Will:was not aware of that
Jerrell:Yeah
Will:I
Jerrell:he scored the header and, and then Reddit was just like, yeah, slab head. You never let us down. I'm like, that's crazy.
Will:Actually, we also had UCL draw today. Were you guys able to catch any of the ceremony?
Jerrell:I caught pot the second half of pot two and then three and four.
Will:I saw the first 10, 15 minutes, it was giving two dystopic bonds villain is winning just like really weird vibes for me anytime I watched my of these events.
Jerrell:Was odd.
Will:of waited and like they did another slot on commercial. They kept on hamming that up. Chelsea won a got a little, some silverware for being the first team to win, six, the, six European competitions that have been there before. So that was a nice little moment, but it's just really weird, right? It is just very corporate, very so I kind of like tuned out until there was a, we had the ties announced. I saw the first ha, I saw the All pot one and up to Arsenal and Pot two, and then I was like, all right, I'm gonna check this on the back end. What are you guys' takeaways from the initial pots?
Jerrell:Before the draws though Kyra from Kazakhstan beat Celtic to qualify for their first ever Champions league. I did watch that one. That was. That was a fun watch. Actually.
Will:Joe's watching a lot of fucking
Jerrell:I was there.
Will:this week. Fucking
Jerrell:was just, I was like, I need, I need a Cinderella story. And this is the one, this is the one I picked.
Will:us like clips, like midday or whatever. I'm at work and you're just like, yo, this game's kind of crazy right now, guys. Like
Jerrell:Yeah,
Will:missing out. I was like, that's wild, bro. Shout
Jerrell:need to repeat this. Yeah. Kyra, yeah. I think two other teams are making their Champions League debut, but yeah, Kazakhstan gets representation in this four.
Will:think it's a total of four. So Chira club Bruge was definitely one union.
Jerrell:Was there last year?
Will:No, sorry. What is it?
Jerrell:Debutantes,
Will:four. Wait for it. Wait for it.
Jerrell:pathos.
Will:is one. It's not Bruce.'cause they, you're right, they were in my, they, I have played them in fifa.
Christian:Holy shit.
Will:team I played before.
Jerrell:I don't have the list.
Will:there we go. Bo going.
Jerrell:Yes, the toothbrush Army is in the Champions League
Will:That's crazy.
Jerrell:and they get a rematch against Tottenham,
Will:Oh
Christian:in there last year.
Jerrell:is also amazing. I, I think they were in the playoff and they got eliminated there. So then they went to the Europa and they played Tottenham in the
Christian:So shout out to PAOs.'Cause I think that's my new favorite logo. I don't know if you guys ever seen their, their emblem. I'm need you to look up the emblem real quick. I wanna know who the fuck that is.
Jerrell:C
Will:Oh, I thought that was someone you
Christian:Absolutely not.
Will:Oh, that's, that's Pao
Christian:I think so. Yeah,
Will:That's Mr.
Christian:it's the, the team name's actually Pao apostrophe s.
Will:Oh, we're all PAOs. When you really look in look deep down inside. gonna
Jerrell:Cyprus, which is.
Will:in. We're locking in. I saw Kyra was it Chira? Kyra? Sorry. Chira is racist. Chira, they're gonna have to travel 6,295 kilometers for one of the legs.
Jerrell:Think that's Arsenal leg. Yeah. But they host Madrid.
Will:they were celebrating as they were like announced to go to yeah, north London and all of them. So really wholesome content. If you get a chance to see them reacting to their draw,
Christian:Oh my God.
Jerrell:be watching them play.
Christian:Madrid, enter
Will:should say,
Christian:Arsenal, Olympia Sporting CP Copenhagen. Oof. Shout out to them.
Will:hey bro. They're just happy to be there, bro.
Jerrell:Yeah, this will take a little bit of time to go over and see who's like really Got it rough.
Will:Oh yeah, definitely gonna be cross-eyed going all over it. Arsenal, not the cleanest, nothing too crazy. But they at Pot one, they got Byron into it. They have they're gonna be playing at Letty at home. And they also have athletic club Bill be on, on the road. So couple took a couple teams. There was the, get AK Club, Olympia Sja, but just Byron and Inter, inter made it to the final. Obviously Byron made it deep. They knocked us out two years ago, so a little tougher there.
Jerrell:Hosting Byron? No. It would be a good eye test.
Will:And then shout Newcastle as well. Newcastle made it in Pot four. They're gonna be playing. Bara. PSG, Benfica Lever. Cuson. PSV Marse. bill be and then union sg.
Christian:Shooting guard.
Jerrell:Nice.
Will:Catch me on 2K, bro. Catch me name, union. Last name's sg. Christian, how do you feel about the rail Majo draw.
Christian:Tough matchups. We got Man City at home, and then Liverpool. Juventus has been on a slide recently, so they're, they're not as scary as they used to be. Famous last words. No, it's, it's, it doesn't look like a tough draw for Ram Madrid, apart from the man city and Liverpool games. Pretty, pretty good. I feel pretty good. I know Barcelona got PSG somewhere in there, right? Yeah.
Jerrell:Yeah.
Will:PSG was like the big, big fixture I circled. Chelsea was probably like one of the teams I prefer out of pot one. And then I track Frankfurt so they can get revenge on them for when they crash out. Europa League like two, three years ago. Club Brew. Olympia, Slavia, Raja, Copenhagen, and then Newcastle on the road. So they'll be in St. James Park. So that, that should be a fun matchup depending on, Newcastle's Health with all the injuries they were dealing with
Jerrell:Very nice. Very nice. that's how the draw worked, right? It was just two from each pot and you couldn't play
Will:So
Jerrell:domestic, A domestic club. Okay. Very interesting. All right. Can't wait for Champions League and.
Will:Yeah, I think that starts in three, four weeks.
Jerrell:Yep. I think it's the 21st. 22nd. 23rd
Christian:don't play anybody. I thought it was just pot one, but you don't play anybody from your.
Jerrell:not until the knockout round, I believe, unless I changed that too.
Will:It's definitely not so knockout round. I think they were talking about changing. If you could play like someone. Like in that round of 16, even though I think even like Real Madrid and Athletical Madrid was cool to see in round of 16 last year, but I don't, I I, we'll, we'll review that deeper as we get into
Christian:Holy shit. You'll never guess who plays for PAOs fc.
Jerrell:it's me.
Will:Mr. Pao
Christian:he's played for Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG.
Will:wait for it.
Jerrell:I
Christian:He made me cry in 2014. David, David Lewis,
Jerrell:I? I'm not gonna be able to.
Will:Oh, oh, good for him. Cool. Losers.
Christian:David Lewis.
Jerrell:and losers, Christian, who's your
Christian:My winner is between Yotis hair and the three promoted teams.
Jerrell:And yo himself the
Christian:yeah. Promotion teams are my winners. Like I alluded to earlier.
Jerrell:I wanna
Christian:Two, they each got a win, and it only took two, two weeks for each of them to get a win. So shout out to the promoter teams this, this time around and you at his hair. He's been made fun of because he had more hair flick than touches on the first game. And he came back, scored his first solo goal, and went straight to the camera and fixed his hair. So shout out to him.
Jerrell:Yeah, I think it's a nervous
Christian:A nervous, sick is crazy.
Will:This
Christian:You've never had your hair in your face.
Will:but get off my dick. Oh yeah. I touch my hair all the time.
Jerrell:it was like leads us winners this week. They're not feeling like winners, but yeah, no, team's getting wins. I like that. My winner hits g Grimsby Town. Just such a, I don't know. I was watching that. I was like, shit, if G Grimsey town loses this going into, like after halftime, if they concede like five goals in the second half, whatever. I was like, this team had fucking heart. I think
Christian:What's his name?
Jerrell:more a week than the entire payroll of Grims Street Town. Huge shout out to the League two side. I don't know who they play in the next round, but that, that was a big win for them. Big, big win for the community. So g Grimsey Town, my winner.
Will:My winner's gonna be Spurs, spurs. They start on six points to start the season. Liverpool Arsenal will play next week, so depending on results. And Spurs playing burn myth at home next week. They have a chance to be first in the league three weeks in considering where they finished last year, the injuries they dealt with and whatnot. My winners gonna be Spurs. They were able to get a big one at that, the hud and it looks like they have the foundation to. Do something this season, maybe meet some expectations I had for them last year. Yeah, yeah. Sprays are gonna be my winners for this week. Just a good start to the season for them.
Jerrell:All right. What about you? Loser?
Will:My loser, I don't wanna say Manchester United'cause I feel like that's just like consistent. I'll, I'm gonna give a soft, no, I'm gonna give it to Westham. I might have said it last week, I don't remember, but I'm gonna give it to Westham because. Shit's trash, bro. It's just not looking good. I don't, and last year at least, I was like, I can see the talent, I can see what they're trying to do. I don't see the vision out here. Grand Potter, he, he needs to figure something out fast because you're on negative seven after two match days. I'll give you the Chelsea game, but considering last week they lost to a team on the ascendancy. I don't know where they go from here. I, yeah, so my lose is gonna be West End.
Jerrell:My loser is gonna be lead united.'cause not only did they lose Arsenal five, oh I mean there was, I don't, I didn't have an expectation of them winning that game, but I expected to be a little bit tighter, but also falling outta care about Cup to Sheffield Wednesday as well. So after going unbeaten in 11 competitions, they have lost two games in a row. Leads most struggling this week.
Will:Damn, we can't lose the plot at the Emirates, bro. It's scary out there, bro.
Jerrell:It is scary.
Will:They held off for a good 30 minutes and they were like, oh, fuck.
Jerrell:And then the sequel. The sequel. A Sheffield Wednesday
Will:I, shit happens on Wednesdays.
Jerrell:in Sheffield. Yeah, I get it.
Will:I don't know.
Christian:My loser is gonna be the wolves. They're started the the season with two straight losses. They need help. They need creation. They need a little bit of inspiration.
Will:But they have, they
Jerrell:That
Christian:They do have a 10.
Will:Who he's, he's on my, he's on my boys preseason 11. Like he's gonna be good. They'll be
Christian:He, he might, he's gonna be good.
Will:to Chelsea for 40 mil. Gearhead, carry
Jerrell:have they
Christian:Hopefully we got Matt Fernandez, as you said earlier, he's coming in in the mid and hopefully he's able to, give a little bit of inspiration, be able to feed our new 10 some, some goals this season. So my.
Will:E Everyone knows Wolves is a second half
Jerrell:Yeah, in game and in season.
Will:I was like tough start of the season for them to be fair. So they had man city last week. They got dog walked and then tough, tough, tough, tough road game against Bare, bare Smith. We
Jerrell:Yeah, they have a 10, but they haven't, they haven't scored so tough. Yeah. The Wolves final forum is the second half of the season. The second half of the game. That's when they, that's when they're truly realized. We'll see what happens. All right. Match day three, preview will. We
Christian:down again.
Jerrell:to.
Will:Morris Soccer. I'm busting it wide open. Chelsea Fullham is gonna start off the week for us. Then followed by Manchester United. They have a chance to get right against Burnley or Burnley. Gets a chance, has a chance to do the funniest thing this weekend. Cinder versus brentford.
Jerrell:Yeah.
Will:The bees hit the road Spurs versus Mout, Wolverhampton Wanderers versus Everton and Molly. Bushels Toffees LEED United tries to get right against a depleted Newcastle Brighton. Looking to do something against Manchester City, Nottingham Forest v Westham, Liverpool Arsenal in the match of the week, the game of the week followed by Aston Villa. Against Crystal Palace as we hit the eve of our transfer window closing.
Jerrell:Woo.
Will:are you guys looking forward to this week?
Jerrell:There's, I'm not even gonna pretend, but it's, it's the Arsenal, Liverpool game.
Will:Hoping someone would be like Cinder Lynn Brentford, but
Jerrell:that's always
Christian:He's probably a is looking out for Sunland Brentford.
Will:Oh, he
Jerrell:Absolutely. Yeah. No Brentford they. They need the three points. It's weird to say that so early in the season, but when looking at their next matches after Sunland, it's gonna be Chelsea the rivalry of Fullham, whatever Man United is three weeks or four weeks from now. And then Man City. So they have a tough outlook in the next couple games. So getting three points for Sutherland wasn't expected for Ashton Villa either. So hopefully they can get six points heading into those grueling matchups. It, it is a team that still struggles to score, so you gotta get the points where you can get them.
Will:of the week was Liverpool Arsenal, right?
Jerrell:Yeah, but that's for obvious reasons.
Will:fault, my fault. I felt like I mis you and that was on me.
Jerrell:But yeah, Liverpool Arsenal, that, that, that's the game that's, that's huge. Liverpool looking, a little leaky in the back. seems to be rolling. Is
Christian:It's never good to be leaky in the back.
Jerrell:gonna be sad? It's, it's really gonna, it's really gonna be that game where it's like. Is Arsenal ready to compete?
Will:I think it might be a game. We talked about like some injuries we saw before. So it's gonna be like, how do some of these pieces mesh? Do we look more like we did against lead? More? Like we looked against Manchester United two weeks ago. Yeah, it'll be a tough game. It's at Anfield. So Liverpool, as you guys have talked about on the pod, they've looked a little less, sturdy than they have been previous than they did last season in they're back. And they've been able to be got at, but their frontline hug has looked really good to start, start his career so far with Liverpool. So they do have options in Moala I've been told is inevitable. So it should be a fun matchup with repercussions for the rest of the season. You guys have predictions or you guys don't wanna jinx anything?
Christian:Mm.
Jerrell:anything.
Will:Ah
Christian:interested in,
Will:hmm.
Christian:I'm also interested in the Aston Villa Crystal Palace game. Crystal Palace Two back to back draws against, top seven teams from last season. Drew against Chelsea, drew against Crystal drew against the trick trees. Now up against Aston Villa who's, is depleted, struggling on their own. It's gonna be an interesting matchup and I'm pulling for Crystal Palace.
Will:A village just needs to score some goals this week actually. Yeah.
Jerrell:Just score something. Tottenham Portmouth should be, can be a fun one.'Em, beating Man City, they, they're sitting on Six Points. Bournemouth. They fought their way back in the Liverpool game, and they did get the win last week. So this, this could be back and forth. This, this could actually just be a draw too, to be honest. Bournemouth are fighters. They're unquote more I say it, but Giant Killers. So we'll see what happens in this game.
Will:Yeah. Outside of that which version of Chelsea are we gonna see is they're gonna look like match day two, Chelsea match day one. Can Fulham figure something out to try to eke out another point, another three points as they're on the road and whatnot. But outside of that I think I'm mostly good with everything. I think that leads United, I see highlighted on the dock. Newcastle game should be interesting. I still expect Newcastle to figure out a way to get a result, but Leads United did show they had pieces here and there, so that might just turn into a game script, match who scores first. So we'll see.
Jerrell:Let's go. And with that, we covered it all. Guys. We did it.
Will:episode.
Jerrell:They stay perfect.
Will:Okay. And then next week we have our 50th episode Extravaganza Guys who would've thought the podcast, no one ever asked for that. We continue to deliver every week. Looking at. Most weeks is fair. We'll be reviewing match day two. We'll do a little preview. Oh, that's a lie. Is that from last week? Jesus Christ. We'll be reviewing match day three. Maybe we'll do a little preview of match day four as we're headed towards that international break. If I'm not mistaken.
Jerrell:And maybe we'll talk about European, so
Will:about whatever obscure soccer you wanna talk about. Drew, I'll be locked in this week and between 2K I'll have it on the side.
Jerrell:I'll send you my games.
Will:Oh, thank God. He was just, all right boys, this is what we're watching today. I'm gonna have four games a day. He said three. Three. Three. Well-balanced meals and a snack will,
Jerrell:Hey, get your notepad ready.
Will:do.
Jerrell:I wanna hear your thoughts. All right. We've been football fellows. We're on all the socials. Instagram, Twitter, blue Sky at the Football Fellows. Jerrell:Yeah. Oh boy. Can barely do one.
Will:we're doing great. Thank you again for we have jokes, at least Thank you guys again for listening. We really appreciate you. I appreciate you guys as well. Anything else you guys wanna cover?
Christian:Orlando City got robbed.
Jerrell:I did not
Christian:Orlando City got robbed.
Will:Okay. May, maybe we'll talk about it next week. All right. Thanks again guys. Have a great one. Peace.
Jerrell:Bye.
